The Ministry of Personnel released the SSC MTS job profiles in its official notification. The Ministry released combined work assignments for the SSC MTS Posts because many works can be assigned to a single person in an office. The Head of the department can assign the work to the SSC MTS posts. The Staff Selection Commission will also mention the SSC MTS Department List in the official notification. The candidates can see the SSC MTS job profiles as released by the Ministry of Personnel.

SSC MTS 2024 Job Profile, Salary. Department List: The SSC MTS Job Profile and the work assigned was released by the Ministry of Personnel. Since the SSC MTS Posts are the Central Government Group C posts whose salary, department and job profile are notified by the Central Government of India. The Ministry of Personnel released a common work profile for all the posts because the work is assigned at the local office level and all the SSC MTS posts may or may not be available in the office. The candidates should note that the SSC MTS posts are Group C posts and the Office Superintendent can assign any ad-hoc task in addition to the task mentioned by the Ministry of Personnel. SSC MTS 2024 notification will be released soon. 

SSC MTS job profile is notified by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) from time to time for all the Central Ministries and associated departments. The concerned department analyses the notified work and raises their requisition for the post to the Staff Selection Commission, which then includes the required vacancies in the exam notification. Some of the SSC MTS posts and job profiles are obsolete now because of the outsourcing of the tasks in the departments. The Commission will mention the SSC MTS department list where the recruitment will be done. The Staff Selection Commission conduct the SSC MTS exam to recruit candidates for the Multi-Tasking Staff (non-technical).

Q:   How SSC MTS exam centres are alloted?
A:

The Staff Selection Commission allots the SSC MTS exam centre based on the choice entered by the candidates in the SSC MTS application form on the first cum first basis.

The candidates are required to select three exam centres in a region. The Commission can allot any of the three exam centres selected by the candidates. The candidates are not allowed to change their SSC MTS exam centre once it is allotted.

Q:   Is the SSC MTS exam centre list notified?
A:

Yes, the Staff Selection Commission mentioned the list of SSC MTS exam centres for each state with its code in the official notification. The Commission notified the official SSC MTS exam centre list 2025 in the official notification. The candidates could check the SSC MTS exam centres in every state and select the exam centre of their choice.

But, the candidates are required to select three exam centres from the same region in their SSC MTS applications. Before the exam, the candidates are required to download their SSC MTS admit card from that regional website.

Q:   Will the Havaldar Vacancies included in the SSC MTS vacancies?
A:

The Staff Selection Commission mention the SSC MTS Posts vacancies and Havaldar Vacancies separately. The candidates should note that the SSC MTS Havaldar selection process and the SSC MTS cutoff are also separate. 

For the Havaldar posts, the candidates will be required to qualify the physical test while there is no physcial test for the SSC MTS Posts (Non-Technical).

SSC MTS Eligibility and Age Limit

SSC MTS Job Profile

As the names of the posts show these are the post belonging to the lowest level of permanent staff. The candidates recruited for these posts do the lowest level of work. The below given functions are taken from the official document released by the Department of Personal and Training (DoPT).

  • Physical Maintenance of records of the Section.
  • General cleanliness & upkeep of the Sectional Unit.
  • Carrying of files & other papers within the building.
  • Photocopying, sending of FAX etc.
  • Other non-clerical work in the Sectional Unit.
  • Assisting in routine office work like diary, despatch etc., including on computer
  • Delivering of dak (outside the building).
  • Watch & ward duties.
  • Opening & closing of rooms.
  • Cleaning of rooms.
  • Dusting of furniture etc.
  • Cleaning of building, fixtures etc
  • Work related to his ITI qualifications, if it exists.
  • Driving of vehicles, if in possession of valid driving licence.
  • Upkeep of parks, lawns, potted plants etc.
  • Any other work assigned by the superior authority. 

Some of the works above may be obsolete, but the departments add new work as per their priority. The above list of duties is only illustrative and not exhaustive. Ministries and Departments may add to the list, duties of similar nature ordinarily performed by officials at this level.

SSC MTS Promotion and Career Growth

There are very few chances of promotion in the SSC MTS service. The candidates serving in the SSC MTS get a time-bound increment in their salaries. The candidate gets the increment mentioned in the 7th Pay Commission matrices after each three years. Accordingly, other components of the SSC MTS salary are also increased.

The candidates should note that, the Central Government will merge the Dearness Allowance in the Basic pay when it exceeds 50 per cent.
