AIBE 2020 was conducted on January 24. Read here what students had to say about the difficulty level, subjects, and type of questions asked in the bar examination.
The Bar Council of India (BCI) conducted AIBE 15 on January 24, 2021, across more than 45 test cities across India. All India Bar Examination (AIBE) was held in pen-paper based test mode from 10 am today.
AIBE 2020 question paper carried 100 multiple-choice questions based on 19 law subjects and the test paper was printed in 11 languages which candidates could select based on their preference.
AIBE is an open book exam, which means candidates are allowed to carry books, previous years’ solved papers, and hand-written notes to their allotted AIBE test centre.

Candidates from the General and OBC category are considered to have qualified AIBE exam if they have scored atleast 40% in AIBE XV exam, while the cutoff mark for reserved categories is 35% marks.
Shiksha spoke to students who took AIBE 2020 exam and most of the students shared that the AIBE test pattern was similar to previous years’ papers and the exam comprised questions of moderate difficulty level.
AIBE 2020 Student Reaction
Dhananjay Mittal who took the exam from Kolkata shared that AIBE 2020 was not very easy but not that difficult as well. He shared that, “I did not prepare for the exam much but I found that many questions were from past year’s papers”.
Shiela Khanna said, “I found the exam to be difficult, I don’t think I will be able to qualify it. Questions asked were very high-level and seemed to be from a trained lawyers expectations not from an aspiring lawyer’s viewpoint”.
Neeraj Raut also did not have a good experience of giving AIBE 2020. “I got confused in many questions of AIBE exam. I could not find sub-sections of some topics asked in the question paper. It was not good for me”.
Sehaj Mishra felt that the exam was of moderate difficulty level. Majority of the questions asked were based on case studies, I had solved all the previous years’ papers and that proved extremely helpful in attempting today’s paper”.
Another candidate, Shivangi Sikarwar shared, “A few questions were tricky but overall my paper went well. I think I was just lucky because majority of the questions asked were from study material that I was carrying to the centre and I quickly found all answers”.
Gaurav Arya said that the exam was easy and questions asked in AIBE XV were from the syllabus only. He added AIBE question paper carried case studies from recent cases and he was able to solve the paper on time. AIBE exam pattern was well defined including the sections, meaning, and internal conflicts between the sections.

No, you can not appear for AIBE Exam if you don't have a hall ticket. AIBE Exam is conducted in pen-and-paper mode. Candidates can not appear in any other mode. Candidates can print the admit card by visiting allindiabarexamination.com in case they loose their hall ticket.

No. As per the BCI rules, candidates can not practice in the court of law until they have a certificate of practice. The CoP will be issued only to those who clear the AIBE Exam.
