Most Repeated Topics in CLAT Exam: The candidates will be required to mark the answers on the OMR sheet provided by the exam-conducting body. The CLAT question paper does not ask direct questions but most of the questions are passage-based. After analysing the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) previous year question papers, we deduced that the CLAT paper ask the prevailing themes in each section. Why Prepare Repeated Topics in CLAT Exam?

It is suggested that the candidates must prepare all the topics given in the CLAT syllabus but after analysing the previous year question papers, we can say that the candidates must assign some more time to the Most Repeated topics of the CLAT syllabus because the probability of these topics being asked in the exam will be higher in comparison to others.

These topics can provide more marks with equal proportional effort because there is certainty that some of these topics will be asked in the paper. Legal Reasoning and Current Affairs, including GK, together account for close to 50 % of the paper, so identifying which themes are frequent in these two sections is very helpful in preparation.

Top 10 Repeated Topics in CLAT Question Papers.

In the English and Quantitative Techniques section, the candidates do not need to the most repeated questions because scoring in both of these sections will be practice-based. The more practice, the better the accuracy. Since the question figures do not repeat, there is very little relevance of repeated topics in the English and Quantitative Techniques section.

The relevance of frequently asked topics or repeated topics in Legal Awareness and General Knowledge is far more for the candidates because these topics has multiple facets and the Consortium can ask any aspect of the topic, which makes it more difficult to prepare. Pinpoint information will be required to answer these questions because no calculation can be involved, unlike the quantitative questions. The following ten topics are most repeated in the CLAT exam.

1. Indian Polity and Governance

This is fundamental to the CLAT preparation because Indian Polity and Governance have their roots in the Constitution of India and the Statutory Acts passed by the Parliament and State Government. The questions asked in the Indian Polity and Governance involve the powers and duties of the executive agencies of the Union and State governments. These include

  • Union Territories
  • Separation of Powers
  • Powers of Union and State Executives
  • Constitutional Bodies, their structure and powers

The above list is not exhaustive. It is an inclusive list only.

2. Constitutional Law

The candidates should note that the CLAT paper does not ask the whole Constitution of India in the paper but there are specific themes which are asked in the paper. These most repeated Constitutional Law themes are

  • Fundamental Rights
  • Directive Principle of State Policy
  • Check and Balance of Powers
  • Federal structure,
  • Power of Judiciary and Parliament
  • Three Lists of Subjects
  • Indian Judicial System

These are the dominant themes in the Constitution of India. In addition to the above, the candidates are suggested to prepare Articles 1 to 150 in their entirety because in passage-based questions, they can be asked.

3. Criminal Law and Bharatiya Nyay Samhita

India recently shifted from the Criminal Procedure Code to the Bharatiya Nyay Samhita. Most of the questions asked from these topics will be based on the Bharatiya Nyay Samhita, Evidence Act, Important Concepts such as Mens rea, alibi, General Exceptions and categories of offences. The candidates need to prepare the context only as there is no need to learn all the sections of the Acts.

4. Contract Law

It is a very important code because the whole of commercial transactions are governed by this set of rules. The candidates must prepare the important concepts of the Contract

  • Law such as
  • What is an offer
  • Performance of contracts
  • Breach of Contracts

Above are some of the concepts but there are various other sections which are important but not that frequent, but they can't be ignored.

5. Law of Torts

The Consortium ask the question based on the Law of Torts, but actually they are only based on the landmark judgement and important concepts of Law of Torts. The candidates must read and understand the Bare Act of the Law of Torts to know the basic premises of the subject.

6. International Relations and Conflicts

The second-most repeated GK theme in the CLAT question paper is International Relations and Conflicts. Questions have consistently centred on groupings like BRICS and G20, India's bilateral relationships with China and Bangladesh, and major global conflicts — Russia-Ukraine, Israel-Hamas, US – Iran. Pakistan and Afghanistan that were active in the news before the exam. We can anticipate one question on the US-Iran conflict this year

7. Science and Technology

The candidates are suggested to prepare the Science and Technology initiatives taken by the Government of India and the Mission announcements made by ISRO in the last one year preceding the exam. The mission should be non-commercial in nature and it should be announced for the Social good.

8. Current Supreme Court Judgement

The candidates should study the important Supreme Court Judgements where it has given observations on important Constitutional Law and Articles of the Constitution of India. Ram Janambhoomi(Mandir) Case, LGBT Case and the like were asked in the paper.

9. Critical Reasoning Patterns in Logical Reasoning

Rather than one topic, this is a repeated question format: assumption, inference, strengthen, weaken, and evaluate-style questions built around short argument passages. Candidates who internalise these five thinking frameworks can apply them to any passage, regardless of subject matter.

10. Data-based Quantitative Techniques

Quantitative Technique questions carry the smallest weightage in CLAT, but the questions that do appear are consistently built around short passages with embedded data — percentages, ratios, and basic data interpretation drawn from a paragraph rather than a plain arithmetic problem.

The above topics are deduced after analysing the CLAT question papers of previous years.

Both formats have their advantages. Institutes like CLATPrep by T.I.M.E., IMS and Coachify offer classroom and online access. This lets students combine in-person interaction with online flexibility, based on their schedule.

Batch timings vary by institute and change with each admission cycle. Aspirants should confirm current weekend or flexible-batch availability directly with the institute before enrolling.

Compare city presence, batch size, mock-test volume and teaching format before choosing. Visiting the centre and checking past student outcomes can also help build a stronger CLAT preparation plan.

Most institutes do not publish independently verified success rates. Aspirants should ask each institute directly for past selection results and NLU placement data before enrolling.

Institutes offering online and hybrid formats, such as CLATPrep by T.I.M.E., IMS and Coachify, generally suit working professionals better. These formats let students attend sessions without a fixed classroom schedule.

Yes, you can apply for admission to Techno India University for the BA LLB (Hons) course without a CLAT score. You just need to appear for the TNJEE entrance exam.

Students can increase their reading speed through consistent practice. They should build a strong vocabulary and practice passage-based questions daily.
