FTII JET Eligibility Criteria 2025: The examination body, the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) prescribes the FTII JET eligibility criteria for all candidates planning to apply for the exam. As per the eligibility criteria of FTII JET 2025, there are set parameters to which candidates need to adhere while filling out the application form. FTII JET 2025 will be held on July 27, 2025, and the FTII JET 2025 application form can be filled from June 15 to July 11, 2025. Candidates planning to take the FTII JET 2025 exam can check the detailed eligibility criteria here.

FTII is India’s premier Film and TV institute and offers specialised programmes for candidates who want to make a career in the Film and TV industry. The programmes offered through FTII are divided into two wings (Film Wing and TV Wing) under which there are different courses of different duration. The courses are as mentioned in the table below:

Q:   What is the passing marks for FTII JET?
A:

The minimum passing marks for the Film and Television Institute of India Joint Entrance Test varies, however, the minimum final cut-off marks to qualify for admission in FTII are: i) 50% for General category. ii) 45% for OBC NCL category. iii) 40% for SC/ST category.

Q:   How much to score to qualify the FTII entrance exam?
A:

There is a cut off which is defined after the exam is conducted. The FTII JET cut off is defined based on various factors such as the difficulty level of the exam, total number of applicants who appeared in the exam and the shifts under which the exam is conducted. Candidates who score equal to or more than the FTII JET cut off will qualify in the exam. As far as the minimum passing marks of FTII JET varies, the minimum final cut-off marks to qualify for admission in FTII for General Category is 50% for General category while that for OBC NCL category is 45%.

Q:   What if I have not completed graduation by the time of FTII JET? Can I still apply?
A:

If candidate has not completed their graduation or if they are awaiting their graduation results by the time of FTII JET exam, they can still take the test. However, they will have to submit the proof of their graduation qualification during the document verification process. If they fail to do so, their candidature will be rejected, no matter if they qualify in the test.

As per the official website of FTII JET, the lower age limit for candidates to apply is 21 years. For every course, candidates must have a minimum of a bachelor's degree in any discipline. However, for Art Direction and Production Design courses, candidates must have a bachelor's degree in Applied Arts, Architecture, Painting, Sculpture, Interior Design or Fine Arts. For Sound Design and Music Production course candidates must have Physics in 10+2. 

Q:   Can I apply for more than one course at FTII?
A:

Yes, candidates can apply for more than one course from each of the three groups on the FTII JET application form. However, candidates will have to pay the application fee for like wise as the FTII JET application fee for one course is INR 2,000/-, for two courses it is INR 3,000/- (2000 + 1000) and for three courses it is INR 4,000/- (2000 + 1000 + 1000).

Q:   How are candidates selected in the FTII JET exam?
A:

As per the admission process of JET exam, candidates first need to quaify in teh FTII JETe exam and subsequent rounds of the Orientation / Interview process. On the basis of performance in JET, the list of candidates shortlisted for the next level of selection will be made available on the website of the Institute. The institute will send interview letters to the shortlisted candidates directly. Students final selection will be based on their JET scores, and performance in the orientation & interviews rounds. The criteria for short listing may vary for different courses for this regard canddiates are advised to check the official notification in detail as well as the counselling page of FTII JET exam.

Q:   Which institutes can I get via JET exam?
A:

On clearing the Joint Entrance Test (JET), students can get admission into Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) as well as the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute of India (SRFTI). These two premiere institutes are the conducting body of FTII JET as well. Candidates who qualify in this exam will be eligibile to take up film making related courses in either of the two institutes.

FTII Admission Process 2025

To get admission to the coveted FTII, candidates need to first visit the official website of FTII and click on the online apply link for JET as and when it is released. After that, candidates will have to fill out the detailed FTII JET application form. While filling out the application form candidates are supposed to upload their required documents and then pay the FTII JET application fee to successfully submit the application form. 

Candidates who successfully submit the application form will be issued the FTII JET 2025 admit card to appear in the written exam. Candidates who qualify in the exam as per the FTII JET result 2025 will be called for subsequent rounds of Orientation / Interviews. The students will be selected based on their FTII JET score, performance in orientation as well as the interviews.

Q: What are the eligibility criteria to appear in the FTII JET exam?

A: As per the eligibility criteria of the FTII JET exam candidates must attain a minimum age of 21 years. They must hold a minimum of a Bachelor's degree to appear for the courses offered by FTII. However, for Art Direction/Production Design programmes, candidates need to have graduated in the Arts stream. For Sound Design and Music Production programmes, they need to have Physics in 10+2.

Q: What is the FTII admission process?

A: As per the official FTII admission process, there are two stages in the FTII JET exam - Written test followed by the FTII JET Counselling. The Counselling process will be held in 2 rounds of personal interviews and orientation after which a Medical test will be done after which candidate's will be finally selected for the programmes.

Q: Can you go to FTII after the 12th?

A: No candidates can't to FTII after completing their 12th as the minimum educational qualification required to be admission into FTII is a Bachelor's degree.

Q: What is the qualification for acting in the Pune Film Institute?

A: To be admission into an acting course at Pune Film Institute candidates need to have a Bachelor's Degree in any discipline. They will have to qualify in the written examination of 03 hours duration (JET) for 100 marks, conducted at FTII JET examination centres around the country and appear in the counselling round after which they will get admission into FTII JET.

Q: How can I get selected in FTII Pune?

A: Students will be selected in FTII Pune on the basis of their JET scores and performance in the interview round. On the basis of their performance in the FTII JET, the merit list of shortlisted candidates will be made available on the official website of the Institute.

Q: Is it hard to get into FTII?

A: FTII is one of India's premier TV & Film institutes and students all over India plan to take admission into it. It is one of the toughest exams but not tougher as compared to other popular government competitive examinations like JEE, NEET NDA or UPSC CSE. However, due to limited seats which is around 100-110 for all courses combined and a lot of candidates applying the competition level is tough. As per the past year's FTII JET analysis, the difficulty level of the FTII JET exam is moderate to difficult level. If candidates practice and prepare well for the exam, they can easily qualify in the JET exam.
