IIT Madras Energy Consortium gears up for its annual Energy Summit that is being held from December 5 to 8, 2023. With a participation of over 300 delegates, the event boasts more than 40 distinguished international speakers hailing from Australia, the UK, the US, Italy, South Korea, and Japan. 

Global leaders, industry experts, academics, policymakers, and government agencies converge, collectively working towards the advancement of technologies essential for steering the energy transition toward a low-carbon future.

  • Carbon Markets, Energy Economics and Climate Finance

Major Outcomes from IIT Madras Energy Summit 2023

The important outcomes from the IITM Energy summit include: 

  • Launch of the CO2 capture demonstrator, to aid industries and researchers in demonstrating technology scale-up
  • Increasing collaboration with more academic and industrial partners to address the technology transition for the decarbonisation goals of the government
  • Launch of Energy Audit app for use by MSME, Energy auditors and other industries

At the summit, a carbon dioxide capture demonstrator was launched, offering crucial support for industries and researchers in showcasing technology scale-up. Additionally, delegates pledged to bolster collaborations with a wider array of academic and industrial partners, aligning efforts to propel technology transitions in line with the government's decarbonization objectives. Another highlight was the launch of an energy audit application designed for use by MSMEs, energy auditors, and various industries.

Making a major announcement during her address, Ms. Sarah Kirlew, Australian Consul General for Chennai, said, “With Australia being one of the earliest partners of The Energy Consortium, the next edition of The Energy Summit will be held at Australia next year (2024)."
