- The GATE 2026 exam for admission to ME/MTech/PhD courses will be conducted on Feb 7, Feb 8, Feb 14, and Feb 15, 2026.
- The IIT JAM 2026 admit cards can now be downloaded from the official portal for admission to the MSc course. Further, the IIT JAM exam 2026 is scheduled to be conducted on Feb 15, 2026.

IIT Roorkee was established in 1847 and is the seventh IIT recognised as an Institution of National Importance. IIT Roorkee is NAAC accredited and AICTE &UGC approved . IIT Roorkee is a public technical research university located in Uttarakhand. The college is the oldest technical institution in Asia that was given university status in 1949. IIT Roorkee course admission is based on the entrance exam. To get admission, the institute accepts entrance exams such as JEE Main, JEE Advanced, IIT JAM, CEED, and NATA. For last year, the closing rank for B.Tech. in Chemical Engineering was 5075 which is very close to this range. This was for general category under All India quota. The IIT Roorkee JAM Cutoff 2024 is out for Round 5. The most competitive course is M.Sc in Applied Geology, with the Cutoff of 52, for the General AI category candidates. For the OBC AI category candidates, the Cutoff rank for M.Sc in Applied Geology is 109.
If the Cutoff rank is more than 232, there is no scope for admission to IIT Roorkee, for the General AI category candidates. However, candidates can get admission under the cutoff varied from 52 to 232 for the General AI category.
IIT Roorkee Admission Process and Dates 2025
IIT Roorkee offers admission to the Bachelor of Technology (Computer Science and Engineering) programme through the JEE Main entrance exam. The eligibility for IIT Roorkee admission is decided by CSAB/ JoSAA. Currently, the institute has an annual intake of 192 students for the BTech programme. At the time of institute reporting for admission, a student has to bring the following list of original documents along with one set of photocopies.

IIT Roorkee semester exam results are out within one to two months of the exam. IIT Roorkee results are announced on the official website. Candidates can follow the steps given below to check IIT Roorkee results:

The curriculum of IIT Roorkee is divided in under three categories as mentioned below:

- Integrated B.Tech. in Process Engineering + MBA
IIT Roorkee offers six specialisations under its BSc programme. These specialisations are spread across various fields of studies such as Physics, Mathematics, Computing, Chemistry and more. The course duration for the BSc courses is four years. The college also offers a five-year Integrated BSc+MSc programme for students willing to pursue a PG integrated course. Admissions to all these courses are made based on merit in JEE Main, followed by JEE Advanced.

IIT Roorkee Infrastructure
The Institute has over three campuses, namely a 365-acre campus at Roorkee, a 25-acre campus at Saharanpur, and a 10-acre campus of the Greater Noida Extension Centre at Greater Noida. The institute has UG, PG, Alaknanda clubs, and various other facilities for the students.
Library: IIT Roorkee's library has a collection of more than 3.20 lakh documents, including online databases, CD-ROMs, standards, audio-video material, specifications, theses, reports, etc. It also has access to more than 8,000 e-journals.
Medical Facilities: To keep the students and faculty physically and mentally fit and healthy. It is well equipped with all the advanced medical equipment and all the emergency services that should be there.
Hostel: IIT Roorkee has 8,000+ students, hostels, clubs, sports facilities, guest houses, 10 boys' hostels, three girls' hostels, one coed hostel, and six married couples' hostels.
How to Reach IIT Roorkee?
Students seeking to come to the IIT Roorkee campus can arrive at the Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun and take a drive of around 1 hour 20 minutes to reach the college campus. Also, students can choose to travel by train and come to the Roorkee Railway Station. From there, they can take a short drive of around 5 minutes to reach the campus of BITS Pilani Goa Campus.
