Pros and cons to consider before taking admission in this college and choosing it.
Placements: Out of 120 students enrolled in my course, around 70 to 80 are placed at the end of the semester, the rest went for Master's, UPSC, or in other fields. The highest package of Chemical Engineering is around 55 LPA, the average is around 16-17 LPA, and the lowest is 8 LPA. Top recruiting companies are HUL, BPCL Dr Reddy's, Microsoft, Adobe, Infoedge, Urban Company, etc. Around 30 to 40 students got on-campus internships in companies like Amazon, Infoedge, Microsoft, and PayPal. Top roles offered are SDE, graduate engineer trainee, Business analyst, product manager, etc.
Infrastructure: The department and all the lecture halls have AC installed and a projector for teaching. The Wi-Fi speed is also quite good. Hostel rooms are also decent, and the mess food is also good, it has a variety of food options to eat from. In the first year, you get shared rooms, but after 1st year, you get single rooms. The hostels have a good vibe with 2 canteens and multiple small playgrounds.
Faculty: All the teachers are mostly from an IIT or have completed their Doctorate from a reputed foreign university, with a good amount of experience. They are helpful too, exceptions are there too. The curriculum keeps changing as per the requirements of the industry. Exams are really tough as we move forward in the course, even getting an average 7 SG takes a lot of hard work.
Other: I was getting this course and college at my rank, and I thought it was the best option for me because I could study chemical engineering and study for SDE roles side by side. Also, I wasn't so sure which field I had to choose, so I chose this to explore my interests and make a good network.

World-class infrastructure.
Placements: Around 90% of students were placed in our course. The highest package offered in our course was 32 LPA. The lowest package was 8 LPA. The average package was 12 LPA. Top recruiting companies were Siemens, Bharat Biotech, etc. Almost all students got internships.
Infrastructure: The facilities and infrastructure available for our course were of a premium class. Wi-Fi-enabled campus. Modern design library with huge books. The laboratory was also equipped with all the updated instruments and machines. The hostel was also very nice. Multiple sports complexes are available.
Faculty: Teachers were helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable in their respective domains. The teaching quality of our faculty members was extremely good. The course curriculum was relevant. It makes students industry-ready. The semester examination was at a moderate level.

Decent branch and, excellent college.
Placements: After phase 1 of placements, 69 students out of 120 students were placed. The highest was around 50 LPA, the lowest was around 6 LPA and the average was 17-18 LPA. Top recruiting companies like Flipkart, Accenture, Meesho, Flipkart, Barclays, Reliance Industries, Deloitte, SRF Limited, and BPCL. 20% of students got internship offers from Adobe, Amazon, ITC, Accenture, Microsoft, Worldwide Technology, No Broker, and Kenvue. The top roles offered are SDE, Data scientist, analyst, and R&D.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is quite good, a good amount of labs, and libraries ( a central and a department one) are present. There is central IITR Wi-Fi which sometimes fails but is okay. Classrooms are quite good, whether in LHC or the department. Some were renovated recently. Many canteens are present all over the campus, sports facilities are excellent, medical facilities are free for students as we have insurance covered in the feels. Mess food is poor-average.
Faculty: The teachers in our department are quite good. They are knowledgeable and pretty helpful in academics and non-academics. The teaching quality depends upon proof to proof. Course curriculum was updated in our year and they have tried quite well to match it with ongoing things in the world. Semester exams are not too tough. The Pass percentage is more than 90%.
Other: I chose this course because it was the best option I was getting according to my JEE rank. More practical knowledge should be introduced in the course. Events and fests are excellent, the alumni network is strong, and many scholarship opportunities are provided.

Life at Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee.
Placements: Placements are fair enough at IIT Roorkee. If you maintain a CGPA greater than 7, it would be sure that you will be placed. Although most of the students get PPO from companies where they have done internships. For internships, there are fewer companies comparatively. In my batch of chemical engineering, out of 120, only 26 students got internships. While for higher branches, opportunities are at speak.
Infrastructure: Our hostels are clean and have a lot of facilities like a gym room, common room, TV room, laundry, and high-speed Wi-Fi. The mess food is decent with varieties of every region. Almost every festival is celebrated in all hostels. There are Bhawan days celebrated for each hostel. The library contains over 3,000-4,000 books with a lot of E-journals. There are medical facilities on campus.
Faculty: All faculty members hold Ph.D. from top universities either in India or abroad. Every student is allowed a faculty advisory to which they can discuss their academic concerns. Exams are conducted twice a semester. We have mid-term and end-term exams. Quizzes are conducted for each subject twice. You can easily maintain an 8 CGPA if you are consistent in classes.
Other: The most amazing thing about IIT Roorkee is its fests named Thomso and Cognizance. Another exciting thing is the location of my college which is between hills like Mussoorie, Valley of Flowers, Lansdowne, etc.

IIT Roorkee college life.
Placements: About 70-80% got placed, and some are going abroad for higher studies. 7-8 are going to IIMs, and others are preparing for GATE. The highest package is around 55 LPA, offered by Zomato and Microsoft. The lowest is 8 LPA, and the average package is 14 LPA. Top recruiting companies include Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Zomato, Sprinklr, JP Morgan, Reliance, Axxela, Future First, Sun Petro, etc. Around 60% of students got internships on campus, while others have done off-campus as everyone has to do an internship in the third year. Top roles offered include software developer, quant, machine learning engineer, data analyst, chemical engineer, etc.
Infrastructure: The college infrastructure is good, and all classrooms have AC and projectors. The whole campus has Wi-Fi availability. There is one central library where anyone can go anytime to study. You can get any book; if not available in the library, they will order it for you. Labs are good; they have very costly equipment and machinery. In the hostel, you will be given a separate room. Every hostel has an attached mess. Every room has a fan, chair, table, and bed. In the mess, you get breakfast from 7:30 to 9:30. After breakfast, you get lunch around 12:30 to 2:30 and dinner from 7:30 to 9:30. All mess workers are very friendly; you have to take the food by yourself. There is an institute hospital where you can go anytime for treatment. There are four large grounds, and every hostel has a gym and indoor games facilities. There is one central gym and a student club for indoor games. There is a swimming pool where you can learn to swim if you don't know how; they will train you.
Faculty: The teaching quality is the best. All teachers have done their Ph.D. or Masters from foreign universities; they all are well qualified. They are very helpful and friendly. The course curriculum is relevant to making you a chemical engineer; you will become industry-ready after a core internship. Semester exams are average; they do relative grading, which makes it easier for students to get good grades. Minimum marks depend on the teacher; some may have 20% or 30%.
Other: I chose this college because I got it according to my score. The course is good if you want to build a career in chemical engineering. There is one cultural fest once a year called Thomso, which is Asia's largest cultural fest. It is a three-day event full of enjoyment and different activities.

Dissatisfied because of bad placements in 2024.
Placements: IIT Roorkee has a 100% placement rate for several courses, including MBA. Top recruiting companies: Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Uber, Ola, Swiggy, and Zomato. Top roles offered were software development-fronted data scientist. The highest average package is 40 LPA, and the lowest is 20 LPA. 60% of students got internships.
Infrastructure: The entire IIT Roorkee campus is Wi-Fi enabled and provides the best high-speed internet connectivity for students. Mahatma Gandhi Central Library is one of the best libraries in Asia, housing a vast collection of books. Classrooms are well-equipped with modern learning aids, and various departments have specialized labs.
Faculty: Yes, teachers are very helpful and knowledgeable. Teaching quality is awesome. The course curriculum is relevant, and it helps to grow in every field and helps with core placements. And yes, it also makes students ready for any kind of industry job. Semester exams are moderately tough.

Absolutely dissatisfied. Here is also rat race, nothing new.
Placements: According to official Placement and Internship cell APP, last year means our +1 batch, 83 got on-campus placements out of near 120 students. As for the internships for our batch, only 46 got on-campus internship out of near 120 students. It includes companies like BIS and Future First which give stipend of 20-25k. As for this season, Placements are going on, but only 20-30% companies are opening for Chemical branch. Most companies have the branch criteria of circuital branches only. If we talk about the lowest package, there are mostly 7-8LPA packages. But some extraordinary get good package which make the average a little higher, otherwise the median is 8LPA. Top roles are : SDE Data Analyst Quant Researcher Means there are 5-10 max core companies.
Infrastructure: Chemical department conducts all of its classes in its department building only, which isn't that much advanced. Classes are poorly maintained, would rate 4 out of 10. Though AC and fans work fine but seats are mostly damaged. Department library is like it doesn't even exist. Main library is good but books are limited, near exam when all students try to issue the books, at that time we face problems. Wi-Fi is good but not upto reputation, like usually there is thing that IIT Roorkee has the fastest Wi-Fi, that is a lie. Hostel (Rajiv Bhawan) facilities are very poor. Lifts in bhawan mostly don't work. Cameras bhawan don't work. Many students have lost their cycle and never found the Thief. Inside Bhawan also there were many cases of stealing things. Though canteen is good. Sports in Bhawan is just for name, not maintained.
Faculty: I am interested in cyber security, so never focused that much on Chemical courses. Though at this age we shouldn't expect that much from professors, we just have to study on our own. Chemical professors are cool. Curriculum is easy not that much hectic.
Other: I chose just because of IIT tag, but only being in IIT doesn't matter, your branch matters a lot. Fest and campus life are okay.

Our campus life is very good.
Placements: Around 300 companies visit our college for recruitment. The highest salary package offered was 43 LPA. The minimum salary package offered was 11 LPA. The average salary package offered was 19 LPA. The minimum salary package offered was 17 LPA. Almost 35% of students got internships in this course.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is very good. The lecture hall is air-conditioned. Our campus is Wi-Fi enabled. There is a decent library in this college. Our campus has greenery all around. The hostel building is very old. Around 3 hostels are under construction.
Faculty: Professors are highly qualified and experienced. Few professors are not good. They do not have an interest in teaching. The course curriculum is relevant to make students ready for the industry. Every course has laboratories and tutorials related to industries. Semester exams are tough. Two exams are conducted each semester. Around 2-3 quizzes are organised in each semester.
