'NEET SS Seats Must Not Remain Vacant', SC Directs Centre to Resolve Issue for Smooth Admissions

The Apex Court bench comprising Justices BR Gavai and KV Vishwanathan has directed the Central Government to resolve the issue and ensure no seats are left for the NEET SS programme.
The Supreme Court of India has directed the Central Government to conduct a meeting with stakeholders and States/UTs along with private medical colleges to fill up the vacant NEET SS seats for the upcoming academic year.
The Apex Court bench comprising Justices BR Gavai and KV Vishwanathan has directed the Central Government to make the necessary amendments and resolve the issue within a duration of 3 months. The directions were issued by the top court bench owing to the petitions filed by successful candidates who have resigned from their allotted seats, as reported by Medical Dialogues.
"We would appreciate the Union of India taking a decision on this issue within a period of three months to ensure that there are no complications in the admission process for the next academic session." The bench comprised. Reportedly, the matter will now be heard by the Supreme Court in the month of April. The Apex Court has also directed the Central Government to ensure that the medical seats cannot go vacant.
The court further directed the Central Government to conduct a meeting with the stakeholders and consider the necessities as guided by the Apex Committee.
The committee, which has been constituted by the Union Government, highlighted the importance of filling National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Super Speciality Courses seats to ensure no seat goes wasted and the shortage of good doctors could be met. Consequently, the Centre has been asked to set up a committee consisting of all the stakeholders including representatives of states and private medical colleges to find a solution.
