About Junior Engineer
For several engineer government jobs, it is an entry-level post. Sometimes it is also referred to as an Inspector of Works. A JE works under the guidance and supervision of a senior engineer. Candidates who have completed a diploma or equivalent in the relevant engineering discipline are eligible to work as JEs. They can work in several fields, including quality control, design, maintenance, production, industrial management, infrastructure, etc. Government departments recruit junior engineers for various departments like Military Engineering Services, Central Public Works Department, Central Water Commission, etc.
Candidates who clear SSC JE exam are appointed as junior engineers in departments of Government of India to fulfill technical projects. The exam is conducted for students who have a Diploma degree in Civil, Electrical or Mechanical discipline.

- Junior engineers need to assist the higher officers according to the requirement.
- They are responsible for planning projects according to the guidance of higher authorities.
- They also manage office work, including documentation, accounting, etc.
- They also prepare project reports, employee work performance reports, etc.
RRB JE: Job Profile
It is a Group C post. The nature of the work will be technical and majorly fieldwork. After getting a promotion, they get the post of Senior Section Engineer, but it could not be an assistant engineer. They also assist in the production work, quality control, workshop maintenance, etc. They also report to higher authorities about the work.

One mark is awarded for each correct answer in the paper. There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every incorrect answer.
SSC JE Paper 2
SSC JE paper 2 is also an objective test conducted in online CBT mode (Computer Based Test). Candidates have to attempt questions from any one section - General Engineering (Civil & Structural), General Engineering (Electrical), and General Engineering (Mechanical). The questions are set in both English and Hindi languages. Candidates can attempt questions in any one language. The total duration of the exam is two hours.
