What is Alphanumeric Series?
Alphanumeric series is formed by combining both alphabets and numbers. Questions from this topic are mostly asked in all the exams. Questions from this topic are easy to solve. Candidates can strengthen their command over the alphanumeric series by solving previous years’ question papers.
Types of Alphanumeric Series
Missing Series: In this type of series, alphabets and numbers may be given in a particular pattern. Candidates will have to fill in the blank space with the required element.
Alphabet-Number-Symbol: These questions may also be asked in a format where a series with alphabets, number and different types of symbols and questions may be asked based on them
Only Alphabetic Series: Series with either missing element or questions with sub-parts are asked. Such questions comprise English Alphabets and no numbers, set in a specific pattern.
Only Numerical Series: Such kind of series comprises only numbers, set in a specific pattern. Questions based on this type may be asked in the form of rearrangement of numbers or digits with the number in ascending, descending or any other order.
Tips & Tricks to solve Alphanumeric Series
Given below are a few tips and tricks to solve Alphanumeric Series questions in RRB NTPC exam.
- In pattern-based series, first, analyse the given Alphanumeric Series question given to you. Try to crack the pattern that is being asked. Mostly the pattern changes in terms of either the number of the alphabet.
- In abrupt series, which include number-symbol-alphabet, no pattern needs to be followed. Candidates need to move to the sub-part of the questions and straightaway answer them.
- For missing number series, you need to recheck the entire series after finding an answer. This will reduce the chances of error.
- Practice various types of Alphanumeric Series questions from the previous years’ question papers.
