National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER) has started the online application process for appearing in the National Entrance Screening Test (NEST). Candidates who wish to pursue an Integrated MSc programme in NISER Bhubaneswar and Mumbai University- Department of Atomic Energy Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences (UM-DAE CEBS) can apply online on the official website latest by April 19, 2020 (extended). The steps involved while filling the online application form of NEST 2020 are registration, filling of personal and educational details, uploading of documents, and payment of application fee. Only the candidates who have successfully completed the NEST 2020 registration will be issued admit card for appearing in the exam.
Around 60,000 candidates take the exam every year in order to qualify for admission to the Integrated MSc program in these prestigious universities. This year, the NEST examination will take place on June 06, 2020 (Saturday) in two slots- morning (9:00 AM- 12:30 PM) and afternoon (2:00 PM- 5:30 PM).

Prerequisites for NEST 2020 Online Application
First of all, you must meet the eligibility conditions before you proceed with filling the NEST online application form. NISER reserves the right to cancel the candidature of any applicant at any stage of the admission process if found ineligible. Check whether you are eligible for appearing in National Entrance Screening Test or not below.
1. NEST eligibility criteria
- Age limit: Candidates belonging to General/OBC category must have a valid proof of Date of Birth which indicates that they are born on or after August 1, 2000. For SC/ ST/ PwD candidates, there is a relaxation of five years.
- Educational qualification: Candidates from General/OBC category must have passed Class 12th board examination with a minimum of 60% marks in Science from a recognised Board in India. Those belonging to SC/ST/PwD categories will be given relaxation of 5% marks.

2.Class 10th/Class 12th details
- Class 10th roll number
- Name of the education board, passing year, and percentage of marks for both Class 10th and 12th
Stepwise NEST 2020 Application Process
Aspirants can go through the steps they need to follow when filling the NEST application form below. For convenience, you can check out the video to understand the step-wise process to fill the application form.
Step 1: Register for NEST 2020
This step is for the candidates who have not registered for the exam. One needs to proceed with this step if they do not have a User ID and Password. On the other hand, registered candidates can log in straight away by clicking on “Already registered (Click Here to Login)” in the application window.
For a new registration, follow the steps given below.
- Personal details: In the first window, you need to enter your Full Name, Date of Birth, Class 10th Roll Number, Gender, Mobile Number, Email ID, and Captcha Code.
- After entering the prescribed details correctly, an email containing Login ID and Password are sent on the candidate’s registered Email ID.
- The next window will display the candidate’s Registration Number as well.
Step 2: Fill NEST Application Form
After successful registration, candidates need to click on “Go to Application” to proceed with filling the application form.
- Personal Information: Under this section, one needs to provide the following details:
- Personal Details: Father’s/ Husband’s Name, Category, Address, Domicile, Pin code
- Details of Guardian: Name of Guardian and his/her Mobile Number
- Exam City Preference: Any five preferences
- After entering the prescribed information, click on “Save & Next”.
- Qualification Details: Candidates need to fill in the particulars with the following information.
- Class 10th/ Equivalent Details: Name of Board, Year of Passing, and Percentage of Marks
- Class 12th/ Equivalent Details: As prescribed
- Uploading of Documents: When uploading the documents such as passport size photograph and signature, ensure that they meet the specifications as mentioned below.

Step 3: Pay NEST Application Fee

Important details regarding NEST 2020 Online Application
The candidature of an aspirant will be considered valid only if they fill the application form correctly. In case of any discrepancy is found in the NEST application form, candidates may lose the opportunity to get admission even after qualifying the exam.
Below are the important things to remember while filling the online NEST application form.
- At the time of registration, one must provide an accurate mobile number and email ID. This is because the NEST office will share updates regarding the exam or admission process through email and SMS only.
- Scanned images of the photograph and signature must meet the specifications provided above.
- Ensure that no field is left empty. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
