Things Not To Carry in IIT JAM 2027 Exam Center
- Devices: electronic devices (mobile phones, smart watches, Bluetooth, and any other communication devices) are completely prohibited.

- Food/drinks: including snacks or drinks that are not water (drinking water must be in a transparent bottle), and

There have some serious consequences when bringing prohibited items to take any IIT JAM exams:
Disqualification from the Exam: You can be disqualified from the exam, meaning your test could be taken away from you, and you could leave the examination room with the exam immediately invalidated.
Seizure of Items: Any prohibited item found on your person will be taken from you by the exam officials.
Possibly Criminal Action: Depending upon the item and the terms of the examination centre, in some cases bringing a prohibited item may incur some form of charges.

Exam Day instructions
On exam day students need to follow the instructions provided by the examination authority. Students can check the information brochure to know the exam day instructions. Here we have provided few of them.
- Aspirants need to carry JAM admit card and a valid photo id on exam day. An original copy of the photo ID card needs to be carried by aspirants as a scanned copy of the photocopy will not be accepted. Photo ID cards that candidates can carry to their IIT JAM exam centre are- College ID, Employer ID, Driving License, Passport, PAN Card, Voter ID, and Aadhaar-UID.
- The print of the IIT JAM admit card has to be taken on A4-size paper by using a colour laser printer (preferably). After taking a printout of the admit card, candidates need to ensure that their signature and photograph are clear.
- Aspirants are advised to visit or locate their exam centre at least a day prior to the exam.
- Candidates need to ensure that their fingertips do not have any coating (example: ink, mehndi, henna, or tattoo) as a biometric system of verification will be done on the exam day.
- Aspirants need to report to their allotted IIT JAM exam centre at least 90 minutes before the exam starts for identity verification.
- Candidates will be allowed to take the IIT JAM exam only after their credentials have been verified by JAM Officials.
- Candidates will be allowed to sit at their allotted seat for the IIT JAM exam 40 minutes before the exam is scheduled to start. Further, 20 minutes before the exam starts, candidates will be allowed to log in and read the exam instructions.
- Candidates will not be able to log in 30 minutes after the exam has started.
- Candidates will not be permitted to leave their exam hall before the exam ends.
- In the IIT JAM exam, candidates will be provided with a 'virtual scientific calculator' on their computer screen. Candidates are informed that they will not be allowed to carry any personal calculators, mobile phones, watches/wristwatches or any other electronic devices inside their examination hall. Also, JAM exam officials are not responsible for the safekeeping of the personal belongings of candidates.
- Candidates are advised against carrying any charts/tables/papers to their exam hall. For rough work, aspirants will be provided with scribble pads. Scribes were arranged for those PwD candidates who had requested to be provided with a scribe at the time of application.
Qualification of the scribe arranged by test centre will NOT be more than the minimum eligibility criteria of JAM. However, the qualification of the scribe is be matriculation (10th) or above. If there are Y candidates who require a scribe, it will be ensured that a panel of (Y+1) scribes is available at the exam centre so that every candidate can have an alternative scribe to choose for the services.
In case a candidate is not able to download his/ her admit card then the Chairman JAM of the IIT/ IISc under which the first choice of test city falls may be contacted through phone/ fax/ email. However, while contacting, the candidate should provide his/ her “online enrolment ID, name, email ID, mobile number, mailing address, and city code of the desired test centre (first choice) to get information about the registration number and the name of the test centre allotted, ” informs the official website.
While uploading files candidates must ensure that they do so in suggested resolution. In case PDF file or printout does not display a clear photograph or signature candidates need to PDF resolution again and check for clarity. If it is still not clear enough, then they have to approach exam authorities and seek solutions.
