UPCATET 2026 Application process is tentatively to start in the third week of March 2026. Students must visit the portal of UPCATET to submit their application form along with the application fee. They need to use the online payment mode to submit the fee for the UPCATET Application form 2026.

The UPCATET Admit Card will be released online on the official portal before the exam. The expected date of the UPCATET hall ticket is May 27, 2026. Students should carry their UPCATET entry ticket to the exam centre. No one will get entry if they do not carry their admit card.

What is UPCATET?

The UPCATET is a state-level entrance exam which is conducted once a year. The UPCATET exam is conducted to evaluate applicants' performance who wish to get admission into various undergraduate and postgraduate programs in the agricultural fields.

This entrance exam is conducted for candidates who possess a domicile of Uttar Pradesh State. These courses are offered at Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture & Technology, Kanpur; Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University of Agriculture and Technology, Meerut; Narendra Deva University of Agriculture and Technology, Kumarganj, Banda University of Agriculture and Technology, Banda, etc.  The UPCATET exam is conducted for a three-hour duration, and the test mode is offline (pen & paper) only.

Q:   Is there any offline counselling for UPCATET exam?
A: 

Normally, UPCATET offline counselling is not be done in offline mode. Applicants who want to take part in admission process must participate in online counselling done by Narendra Deva University of Agriculture and Technology ( Ayodhya). Candidate must note that after declaration of UPCATET results the exam conducting authorities will release the dates of UPCATET counselling schedule. 

But authorities also releases the special schedule of offline counselling. Candidates who want to take part in counselling must prepare the required documents as well as security fees which needs to be deposited during counselling process. 

Q:   What is the mode and timing of UPCATET entrance exam?
A: 

The UPCATET exam is 3 hours long. This provides sufficient time to answer 200 questions. The exam is held in offline mode at exam centres. Students must use a pen and paper. The UPCATET paper comes in Hindi and English. This helps students choose the language they are more comfortable with. 

Q:   Am I eligible for UPCATET if I pass the compartment exam for Class 12?
A: 

Yes, applicants who pass the 12th standard exam with compartment will also be eligible to appear in the UPCATET exam. There are no passing percentage marks for the UPCATET exam. Candidates need to just pass the exam. But there are wise criteria which must be abided by. Students should be between 16 and less than 22 years of age on December 31, 2026. Applicants who fulfil both criteria need to fill UPCATET application form and appear in the exam. 

Q:   What are the options for in the UPCATET Question paper?
A: 

Applicants, while filling their application form, will be given four choices: PCB, PCM, PAG, and PHS. Students will have to choose any of these choices in the form according to their educational qualification. They will be given a paper of their choice in the UPCATET exam. There will be no change in the examination hall for any paper under any cicrumstances hence applicants must choose carefully while filling the form. 

Candidates will be given admission to a similar course for which they have appeared in the exam. There will be 200 questions in the exam, out of which 20 questions will be from the General Knowledge topic, and the remaining 180 will be from the group for which they have applied.

The eligibility criteria for UPCATET 2026 for different courses i.e BSc and BFSc are given below:

  • BSc (Honours) Agriculture/ BSc (Honours) Horticulture/ BSc (Honours) Forestry: One must pass their class 12 with Agricultural Science/ Physics, Chemistry, Biology (PCB)/ Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics (PCM)/ Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology (PCMB) subject to meet UPCATET eligibility criteria.
  • Bachelor in Fisheries Science (BFSc): They should have cleared Class 12 with Agricultural Science/ Physics, Chemistry, Biology (PCB)/ Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology (PCMB) subject to meet UPCATET 2026 eligibility criteria.
  • BSc (Honours) Home Science: Students should have cleared Class 12 in the Arts stream with Home Science/ PCB/ PCM/ PCMB/ Agricultural Science subject to be eligible for the UPCATET exam. According to the official website, only female candidates can opt for this course.

Age limit: As of December 31, 2026, students should be more than 16 years old and less than 22 years old. For the BVSc & H course, they should be a minimum of 17 years old and a maximum of 25 years of age as of December 31, 2026. If they belong to the SC/ ST/ OBC category have an age relaxation of five years for any course they apply for.

UPCATET 2026 Application Process

UPCATET Registration 2026 is expected to start in the third week of March 2026. The deadline for candidates to submit the UPCATET 2026 application form is extended to May 18, 2026. After completing the UPCATET registrations, candidates need to fill out the application form in online mode on the official website of the exam.

Students first had to visit the official website, click on the 'New Registration' tab and then click on the 'I agree' checkbox. Upon clicking on the 'New Registration tab, candidates had to fill in their basic details, including contact details, after which the registration credentials were generated. After this, they need to log in, fill out the complete UPCATET application form and pay the application fee. Candidates need to pay the application fee online (via net banking/ debit card).

The Application fee for General, OBC Male candidates, EWS is INR 1350 (without any late fee charges), and the application fee for Female candidates from UR, OBC, SCT, ST category, and SC/ ST students is INR 1100 (without any additional charges of late fee).

There are different eligibility criteria decided by the exam conducting authorities whcih includes both age as well as education for UG courses. There is no age limit for PG and PhD courses.  

For BVSC & H course the minimum and maximum age limit of candidate need to be 17 and 25 by December 31While for all other course the minimum and maximum age limit of candidates need to be 16 and 22 by December 31

Note: Person with Disability (PwD) will be given a relexation of 5 years in upper age limit.

UPCATET 2026 Cutoff

The UPCATET cutoff is the minimum mark required to pass the exam. The UPCATET 2026 cutoff will be out after the counselling process is done. Q:   What are the details which will be printed on the UPCATET score card?
A: 

The exam conducting authorities will release the result as well as the score card of applicants in online mode only. Candidates who have appeared in the exam can check the below-mentioned details in their score card:

  • Candidate's Name

  • Candidate's Roll No.

  • Qualifying Status

  • Individual and total passing marks

  • Rank of candidate

Applicants who have secured the minimum passing marks will be declared qualified in the UPCATET exam and must participate in further process. 

Q:   What will be the validity of UPCATET Results?
A: 

The validity of the UPCATET result is only considered for those candidates who qualify for the exam. The validity of UPCATET results will be valid for one year. Applicants need to use their score card to appear in the counseling for their respective courses in the same year only. After the completion of one year, students will be able to appear with a different scorecard. 

 

 

Q:   Will the hard copy of the UPCATET scorecard be sent to the candidates?
A: 

Applicants who have appeared in the UPCATET exam and whether they have qualified for the exam should note that the exam conducting authorities don't send any hard copy of the result or score card to the candidates by post.  

Since the result & score card of UPCATET will be released in the online mode and it will be in PDF format only. Candidates need to note that no document is shared via post, whether it is an application form acknowledgment, admit card, or result.

Q:   Is there different exam pattern for UG and PG programme?
A: 

Yes there will be different exam pattern of UG and PG courses in UPCATET exam. The UG courses i.e BSc & BTech and Post graduate courses i.e MBA, MSc have different pattern. The number of courses for UG is 200 while for PG it is 100. The total marks allotted for UG courses is 600, while for PG it is 300. 

Though each question from UG and PG weigh same 3 marks only

Time duration for both UG and PG is also different, UG is of 3 hours and PG is of 2 hours.

UPCATET 2026 Counselling

UPCATET 2026 Counselling Process will start in the fourth week of June 2026, for Round 1 as per the last year's schedule for the BVSc and AH courses. The end date to register for candidates who wish to pursue different Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses in the Agriculture field will be in the same month, June. Only candidates who appear for the UPCATET Exam 2026 and qualify for the exam are eligible for the counselling process. Candidates need to first register themselves by visiting the official website to be eligible for the counselling process, and need to submit the counselling fee as well. Once the registration process is done, the selected candidates will be eligible for further rounds of the counselling process.

Q:   Can a student from Bihar appear for UPCATET exam.
A: 

No a student who belong to Bihar can not appear in UPCATET exam. As according to UPCATET eligibility criteria:

A) Such students who are living in UP from the last 5 years and have completed the required qualification from state only. 

B) Such citizens of India whose father’s residence or place of origin is UP and he/she also belong to UP. 

C) Such citizens of India whose father’s residence or their residence is not from UP but they acquired and have been living in the state for 5 years.

Q:   What are steps for UPCATET counselling?
A: 

Candidates can follow the below mentioned steps for counselling

Step 1: Online UPCATET counselling registration (fees submission) and documents upload.

Step 2: Online choice filling and Locking.

Step 3: Seat allocation and Security fee deposit.

Step 4: Report at respective universities.

By following these steps the admission process of a candidate will be completed after declaratio of UPCATET results.

Q:   What is the difficulty level of UPCATET?
A: 

The UPCATET exam is compratively easy in comparison to JEE Main, BITSAT etc. exam. Applicants who have secured atleast 60 % marks in their academic exam are more likely to qualify the exam. Since it is state owned examination and number of users are also less in comparison to other competitve exam. 

Applicants just need to complete the syllabus within time and practise more and more to qualify the exam with good marks. 

 

 

Q:   Is there negative marking in UPCATET exam?
A: 

Yes, there is a negative marking scheme in the UPCATET exam. For each correct answer applicants will be given 4 marks. For each incorrect answer, 1/4th of the total marks or 1 mark will be deducted. 

The calculation of the score for the respective programmes will be taken into consideration by taking into account all correct & incorrect answers. After preparing the list of all candidates the authorities will prepare the list of successful applicants based on the availability of seats

Q:   What to do the after declaration of results of UPCATET?
A: 

Applicants who qualify the UPCATET exam for the respective courses for which they have applied further need to appear in counselling. Applicants need to join counselling process possess the following items i.e Mobile phone, email id, date of birth, roll number and scanned copy of documents. 

The process of counselling includes registration, choice filling, seat allotment, uploading of document, document verification, dowloading of allotment letter and last admission process of the allotted universities.

 

Q:   What is the application fees to fill the UPCATET Exam form?
A: 

The UPCATET application fee is required to be paid after filling out the form. otherwise the form will not be accepted by the authorities. Every year, the updated fee structure is given in the UPCATET 2026 notification. But according to the previous year's information, male students who belong to the General & OBC categories have to pay INR 1350. Other students, both male and female, have to pay INR 1100 application fees. 

The application fees need to be paid online via Debit card, Credit card, Net banking, etc. Once the fee is paid, students are required to download the receipt of fees. 

Q:   Is there any eligibility criteria to apply UPCATET exam?
A: 

There are different eligibility criteria decided by the exam conducting authorities whcih includes both age as well as education for UG courses. There is no age limit for PG and PhD courses.  

For BVSC & H course the minimum and maximum age limit of candidate need to be 17 and 25 by December 31While for all other course the minimum and maximum age limit of candidates need to be 16 and 22 by December 31

Note: Person with Disability (PwD) will be given a relexation of 5 years in upper age limit.

Yes, the syllabus is different at the individual level. The UG syllabus is based on Class 12 Science subjects. The PG syllabus is based on what students learn in their Bachelor's degree. The PhD syllabus is deeper and more detailed. It includes in-depth information in one specific area.
