OUAT Entrance Exam MSc 2020: Exam Dates, Application Form, Eligibility, Syllabus, Results

This exam is held for all those students who want to make their career in the Agriculture fields and other related fields like horticulture and veterinary science. The exam is conducted once a year for all students who wish to get admission through OUAT to their preferred courses.

To get admission into B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture / B.Sc.(Hons.) Horticulture / B.Sc. (Hons.) Forestry /B.Sc. (Hons.) Community Science, combinations of either P.C.M or P.C.B in Class 12 Science/equivalent are mandatory.

The university reserves the right to change the number of seats if required. The latest rules and regulations in any matter of admission, specified by competent authority will be followed during the admission process. 3.1.2. When there is one seat for both SC & ST candidates, the seats are allotted on an alternate basis every year as specified in the prospectus.

The applicant has to submit online application Form-A and Form-B through the official website (Academic section>admission section > Candidate login). Candidate has to log in providing e-mail ID, mobile number and OTP to submit Form-A and Form-B. The candidate has to log in to edit Form-A & Form-B and download acknowledgement to Form-A and Form-B submission. Entrance mark, weightage. 

Candidates must go through the following points to appear for the OUAT entrance exam:

3. Submit the application fee after registration
4. Select the nearest exam centre
5. Upload all the required documents
6. Download the Admit Card
7. Submit the application form after filling all the details.
8. Download the admit card to appear for the OUAT exam.

Candidates without having Mathematics or Biology will have to make up for their deficiency by taking pre-requisite courses in the subject (Mathematics / Biology) to be offered during the first two semesters. For admission into B.V.Sc & A.H and B.F.Sc. subject combination P.C.B. in + 2 science/equivalent is mandatory. Similarly, for B.Tech (Agril. Engg.), subject combination P.C.M in + 2 science / equivalent are mandatory.

Five per cent (5%) of seats are reserved for Persons with Disability (PwD). The candidates applying under the PwD category have to produce the original PwD certificate issued by the competent authority at the time of counselling and admission.

Candidates applying under the AFP quota shall produce the original Bonafide Certificate issued by Rajya Sainik Board, Govt. of Odisha, Bhubaneswar-2 at the time of counselling and admission, failing which his/her admission to AFP category seat will be denied.

The Kashmiri Migrants/ Kashmiri Pandit (Non-Migrants) / Kashmiri Hindu Families (Non-Migrants) living in Kashmir Valley are not required to appear in the OUAT PG Entrance Examination - 2024. Interested candidates must apply online, without which admission is not allowed. The selection of these candidates will be made from a separate merit list prepared based on the highest OGPA/percentage of marks in Under Graduate programme. Without OGPA/marks of qualifying examinations, the application will be invalid. In case of a tie, it will be resolved considering the percentage of marks in the qualifying examination followed by Class 12 science and 10th standard in that order.

The OUAT exam questions majorly comes from the NCERT. The OUAT Exam syllabus 2025 include subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology courses from the Classes 10+2 syllabus, with questions based on the syllabus.

A Master’s Degree Programme is a full-time study of two years which includes both coursework and research for a thesis. The maximum permissible period for completion of a Master’s degree is five consecutive academic years for direct students and six consecutive years for in-service students.

A candidate who is appearing for the exam this year should know that the difficulty level in general is moderate to tough. Also, candidates need to score well in classes 10 and 12 so, that when they appear for the OUAT Exam 25 per cent of their class 10 and 12 scores will be added too.

The OUAT 2025 Answer Key is available between June 20, 2025, for UG candidates to be able to evaluate their OUAT 2025 Scores and to rasie any objection till June 24, 2025. 

Candidates need to visit the official website of OUAT and login with their registered IDs to donwlod the OUAT Answer Key PDF. The start and end date to raise objection is June 20 to 24, 2025. 

Yes, the end date to challenge the OUAT Answer Key is June 24, 2025, once the objection window is over no candidate is allowed to raise or challenge the OUAT Answer Key. 

A Doctoral Programme is a full-time study of three years which includes both course work and research for a thesis. The maximum permissible period for completion of the course is seven consecutive academic years for direct students and eight consecutive years for in-service students. An academic year consists of two semesters each having a minimum duration of 110 working days consisting of 95 Net Instructional Days (NID) and 15 examination days.

The entrance examination will be held in CBT mode for the Master’s programme and the entrance examination for a doctoral programme (Ph. D) will be held in offline mode in the third week of July 2025, tentatively. The exam is conducted for Veterinary Science candidates in Bhubaneswar only. The OUAT Admit Card can be downloaded from the OUAT website) and the candidate must bring the Admit card with original identity proof to the Examination Centre for verification. Without an admit card and original ID proof, the candidate will not be allowed into the examination hall and hence, will be debarred from appearing in the entrance examination.

The sequence of steps to be followed by each examinee for appearing in the Examination using the Online Examination Portal will be as follows:

• The students will have to enter their application number as Username and DOB (Date of birth as mentioned in the application form) as Password and click on the “Sign in” button. 

• The student’s details will appear on the screen as submitted in Form-A, which must be verified by the student and acknowledge the same by clicking on the “I Confirm” button. 

• Go through the general instructions and then click on “NEXT” and move to subject-specific instructions. 

• Once the candidate has gone through the instructions page, the candidate needs to select the language as “English” and click on the check box on the left side of the declaration.

• The “I am ready to begin” button will be enabled as per the examination scheduled time and the candidate has to click on the “I am ready to begin” button to start the examination. 

• The student has to proceed to answer the questions one by one by clicking on the small grey circle next to the chosen answer.

• The examinee can move to First, Last, Previous, Next and unanswered questions by clicking on the buttons with respective labels displayed on the screen throughout the test.

• The answers can be changed at any time during the test and are saved automatically. It is possible to Review the answered questions as well as the unanswered questions.

• The time remaining is shown in the Right Top Corner of the screen. The assessment will get “auto submit” when the time limit is over, OR if the examinee finishes the exam on time, he can quit by pressing the ‘Submit’ button.

• The candidates must not click the “Submit” Button until the candidate wants to quit from Examination. However, no candidate can leave the examination hall before completion of the examination.

The ICAR/Departmental candidates sponsored by State Govt./Foreign Candidates nominated by ICAR/ICCR/any other statutory bodies of Govt. of India are exempted from appearing in the Entrance Examination. All other categories of candidates including ICAR Fellowship holders are required to appear at the Entrance Examination.

The exam conducting authority released a notice on April 5, 2024 which mentions that the exam dates of OUAT entrance 2024 are changed due to unavoidable reasons. Hence, now the exam will be conducted on June 4 and 6, 2024. 

Applicants are advised to download the admit card from May 22, 2024 in online mode. 

To appear in the online entrance examination (CBT mode), the candidate must have the admit card and original ID proof. Submission of application Form-B (online) is mandatory for the admission process. No hard copy of application Form-A, Form-B or any other document will be accepted. For admission, the candidate must appear entrance examination and submit Form B. Even if a candidate appears in the entrance examination, but does not submit Form B, the rank will not be generated and the candidate will not be eligible for admission.

No, there is no such procedure to take direct admission in the OUAT exam. Applicants are required to fill the application form and appear in the OUAT entrance exam for their desired course. 

Since there are two entrance exams OUAT UG & OUAT PG, hence applicants who want to take admission in their desired course need to apply accordingly. 

The application form, release of admit card, answer key & result will be released in online mode only.  

Candidates who are invited for counselling and admission are required to submit the following documents in original and two sets of self-attested photocopies before the Admission Board. 

1. Intimation letter

2. Downloaded application Form

3. Domicile certificate if relevant (As per clause 2.3.1).

4. Class 10th & 12th Mark sheet and certificates

5. UG Certificate and Mark sheet

6. Master’s Certificate and Mark sheet for Ph. D. admission

7. PwD Certificate

8. In the case of NRI/PIO Candidates all the following documents:

• Sponsorship Certificate (Annexure- III)

• Passport of Sponsor

• Visa/permanent residential certificate of sponsor

• Residential proof of sponsor(electric bill, water bill, telephone bill etc.)

• Govt. document or affidavit indicating the blood relationship of candidates with the sponsor

9. Domicile certificate from respective states for Other State Candidates.

10. Medical Fitness Certificate ( Annexure- II).

11. Declaration certificate for discontinued study ( Annexure-IV).

12. CLC, Conduct and Migration Certificate from the Head of Institution last attended.

13. Aadhaar Card with recent photograph.

14. Five passport-size colour photographs.

The application form of OUAT 2024 will be released along with the release of the notification. According to observing the previous year's trend this year's authority may release the OUAT online form tentatively by the last week of April or the first week of May, 2024. 

Applicants who want to appear in the exam are advised to check the eligibility criteria before applying online. Along with filling out the form, students need to pay application fees as well and uploading the documents.

There will be 180 general multiple choice questions (Non-crop specific) in part A and 40 crop specific (Field crop and Horticultural crops in equal proportion) questions in part B following the common syllabi of Agriculture and Horticulture faculties. Candidates have to attempt all the questions in part A and any 20 questions from part B.

No, there is no negative marking applicable in the OUAT entrance exam. This led to an increase in the cutoff of the OUAT entrance exam. Since there is no negative marking hence applicants attempt the maximum number of questions they can or even sometimes they do wild guesses. 

Questions that are marked correct give the applicants extra marks even without knowing the correct way of solving them.

It is advisable to the students to attempt all the questions in the exam hall.  

The entrance examination for admission into the Master’s programme in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode and for the Doctoral programme is offline at Bhubaneswar. For the M.Sc. (Ag) course programme, the question of entrance test will be comprised of two parts Part- A and Part B.

The Entrance Examination will be of 2 hours duration with 200 multiple choice questions of one mark each in English language only. There will be no negative mark for the wrong answer. The multiple-choice questions (MCQ) will cover the subjects taught at the Bachelor’s Degree level and Master’s Degree (major discipline) for the Master’s and Doctoral programmes respectively.

No, the seats that are reserved for SC & ST candidates, who appear for the OUAT Exam and clear the exam, are not allowed to interchange their reserved seats separately.

OUAT has rescheduled the release date of OUAT 2025 Admit Card to accommodate application process and to ensure a better experience for OUAT Applicants. 

The OUAT 2025 Answer Key PDF will be released between June 20 to 24, 2025, on the official website for candidates to use their login credentials to access the Answer Key PDF.
