Aligarh Muslim University Admission Overview 2026
Aligarh Muslim University admissions are done on both entrance and merit basis. Interested studnets can get in through AMUEE or any other national-level exams accepted by the university. Aligarh Muslim University offers a four-year full-time BTech course at the undergraduate level. AMU offers BTech across ten specialisations including Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, CSE, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, among others. AMU conducts Aligarh Muslim University Engineering Entrance Examination (AMUEEE) for BTech admission and it is not very tough for candidates already appeared for JEE Mains. Students who have prepared well for the board examination or JEE Mains can easily crack the AMU entrance test for BTech admission.
Yes, Aligarh Muslim University admission to most of the courses is based on CUET scores. Admission to AMU undergraduate courses including BSc (Hons.) Community Science, BA (Hons/Research), BVoc in Production Technology, Polymer and Coating Technology and Fashion Design & Garment Technology and BSc (Hons/Research) is completely based on valid Central University Entrance Test (CUET-UG) scores. From the academic session 2022, all the central universities along with a few state-deemed universities and private universities started accepting CUET scores for admission to their UG and PG courses.

STEP 1: Registration
Visit AMU's official website to register for counselling. The payment for admission may also be had to be paid on the same portal.
STEP 2: Provisional Admission
After counselling, provisional admission shall be granted to the shortlisted candidates.
STEP 3: Document Verification & Physical Reporting
After selection, candidates have to report physically at the university and submit a list of documents. Candidates must carry original documents.
A nationwide entrance exam called the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) is required for admission to all undergraduate degrees at all central universities. Registration for CUET UG 2024 closed at 11:50 p.m. on April 5, 2024. The online application for CUET 2024 was open. The CUET 2024 admission card was made available by the National Testing Agency via exams.nta.ac.in/CUET-UG/ on May 29. The CUET 2024 exam for Delhi centres was originally planned for May 15, but the NTA has moved it to May 29. The CUET admit card and intimation slip can be downloaded by candidates who have paid the application fee and registered for the exam.
Aligarh Muslim University Eligibility & Selection Criteria 2026
At AMU, students can pursue an extensive range of programmes across multiple specialisations. The university provides the programmes in full-time and regular modes. Aligarh Muslim University course admissions are mostly entrance-based. However, it is also important that students fulfil the preset eligibility criteria of the desired course. For AMU BTech admission, candidates must have valid AMUEEE 2026 scores. AMU MBA admission is based on candidates' performance in the AMU-CAT 2026 entrance test, conducted by the University. Aligarh Muslim University Admission Process 2026
Candidates can apply for admission to their desired courses on the CUET website and CUET taken in the respective subjects shall be eligible for counselling and admission. Some of the courses for which AMU accepts CUET-UG scores are BA (Hons), BVoc, BSc (Hons), etc. For some of the specialisations of the mentioned programmes, CUET may not be applicable. The procedure applicable for admission to AMU courses through CUET is as follows:
- Registration and form submission on the AMU website (cuet.samarth.ac.in)
- CUET exam
- Online application form of AMU (amucontrollerexams.com) by entering the CUET application number
- Release of merit/selection list or intimidated through any other means
- Registration and participation in Counselling (if shortlisted)
The process followed during AMU CUET counselling is:
STEP 1: Registration
Candidates shortlisted or selected can register for counselling. Selected students have to visit AMU's official website (amucontrollerexams.com or counselling.amuonline.ac.in) to register for counselling. The payment for admission may also have to be paid on the same portal. The fee for the same for the respective courses is made available on the official website.
STEP 2: Provisional Admission
After counselling, provisional admission is granted to the selected candidates. Aspirants shall check out the AMU official website for updates regarding the same.
STEP 3: Document Verification & Physical Reporting
After selection, candidates have to submit a list of documents for verification purposes. Candidates must carry original documents.
The documents required at the time of physical reporting for provisional admission completion are:
- Mark sheet of last qualifying examination (with four self-attested photocopies)
- Transfer/migration and character certificate (If the Certificate is not available, an undertaking on the prescribed format is to be submitted within the due date)
- High school certificate or its equivalent in support of the date of birth
- Five (2.5 x 3.0 cms) recent front-facing colour photographs (with white background)
- Documents in support of Special Categories claimed in the application form
- Leave sanction/relieving order from the employer for the entire duration of the course, if employed.
- Name removal certificate from the rolls of the concerned faculty/college/unit (if already enrolled in another full-time course at AMU)
- Two self-addressed envelopes bearing postage stamps worth INR 22 each (to be submitted in the Office of the Provost of Hall of Residence/NRSC allotted).
- Two Undertakings on plain paper – one on your behalf and the other on behalf of your parents/guardian regarding not indulging in ragging
- Latest Certificate of vaccination for Typhoid, Cholera and Hepatitis “B” – (applicable only for BSc Nursing course)
AMU Fee Refund Policy 2026
If a newly admitted student chooses to get his/her admission cancelled, the University shall follow the following five-tier system for the refund of fees deposited by the student. The amount of refund depends on the withdrawal timeline. Check below fee refund policy:

Aligarh Muslim University offers both BE and BTech courses covering seventeen specialisations at the undergraduate level. To be eligible, students must pass Class 12 or equivalent exam pass with at least 50% aggregate and English, Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics subjects. Aligarh Muslim University offers a full-time BSc course at the undergraduate level. Candidates seeking admission to AMU for BSc must visit the official website of the University to apply online. AMU BSc admission is completely entrance-based. Depending upon the BSc specialisation chosen by a candidate, the admission is provided based on candidates' marks in either AMU Entrance Exam or CUET-UG. Based on the entrance exam scores, AMU will release a merit list of selected students. As a final step, selected students need to pay the admission fee to confirm their seats.
Aligarh Muslim University offers a three-year full-time BSc course at the undergraduate level. Apart from the BSc course, the University also offers BSc (Hons) courses. Aligarh Muslim University offers an MBA (General), MBA in Hospital Administration, MBA in Islamic Banking & Finance and MBA in International Business at the postgraduate level for a duration of two years each. AMU admission to all these courses is completely entrance-based and depends' on candidates' performance in CAT or an online written test, conducted by the University. Aligarh conducts its own entrance exam to select candidates for its MBA programme. Candidates interested in taking admission to the MBA programme at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) must take the AMU entrance exam for MBA admission and should try to perform well in it. Candidates based on their performance will be selected for admission to the MBA programme.
For Aligarh Muslim University B.P.Ed admission, candidates must have passed a bachelor’s degree in any discipline with a minimum aggregate of 50% and have at least participation in the InterCollege/Inter-Zonal / District / School competition in sports and games as recognised by the AIU/ IOA / SGFI / Govt. of India. Students with a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education with 45% marks or Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with 45% marks and studied physical education as a compulsory elective subject are also eligible for AMU B.P.Ed admission.
Admission to the AMU MBA is done based on the performance of the candidates in AMU CAT.The competition level is high for Aligarh Muslim University MBA admission and it is also reflected in the entrance exam conducted by AMU for admission to the MBA programme. The entrance exam is a computer-based test consisting of 100 questions (1 mark each), divided into four sections and they are as under:
- Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension: 25 Marks
- Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning: 25 Marks
- Quantitative Ability: 25 Marks
- General Awareness: 25 Marks
Those who qualify for the entrance exam will be selected for the counselling process followed by document verification and fee payment for final seat allotment.

Gym/ Personal Trainer, Professional Athlete, Sports Journalist, Sports Administrator and Yoga Trainer, among others.
