The VIT Vellore Library is also called the Periyar EVR Central Library. Spanning over six floors, the total area comes to 7,770 sq. m, (excluding the ground floor). Inside, you'll find resources across engineering and technology, mathematics and sciences, biotechnology, humanities, social sciences, and management.
Books, e-books, journals, back volumes, and online databases, students get all of it under one roof. National and international journals too, in both print and electronic form can be found at VIT Vellore Library.

How many books are available at VIT Vellore Library?
According to the university's library page, the Vellore campus library has 2,54,027 books and 18,350 back volumes (as recorded on VIT's official website, as of November 28, 2025). It also listed 412 print journals and magazines, including 330 national and 82 international publications. The library had 3,64,806 e-books and access to 16,829 online databases/e-journals.

VIT Vellore Library Rules

- Carrying VIT ID card while visiting the library is mandatory
- Visits are tracked via Biometric entry and exit
- Maintaining silence is also compulsory
- Phone calls aren't allowed inside VIT library
- Bags and larger personal items need to be left at the designated area near the entrance.
- Books issued to another student cannot be borrowed on someone else's ID card.
- Once a book has been stamped and issued, it shouldn't be brought back inside the library.
- Marking, underlining, or clipping pages in library books isn't permitted.
- Books are issued based on availability at the time.
- Sub-lending books to others is not allowed.
- Students get one online renewal per book through WEB-OPAC.
- Reference books, newspapers, magazines, and journals generally stay within the library, though select reference books can be issued overnight.
