M.Tech. in Polymer Technology - Batch of 2017

A technical college with the best infrastructure, placements, faculty, and reputation.
Placements: It is the best government college in New Delhi in terms of placements. The highest package offered in our college is 1.5 crores per annum. The average package offered in our college is 8 LPA. I got placed in Accenture with an annual package of 5 LPA. The placement co-coordinator is also very supportive.
Infrastructure: It has one of the best infrastructures with the facilities like library, online access to books, cricket ground, football ground, basketball ground, and badminton court, etc. Our classrooms are well-equipped with all smart boards. The whole campus is centrally air-conditioned, and even the Wi-Fi facilities are provided here.
Faculty: Our faculty members are highly qualified. All the professors were qualified in NET, and some of them also completed their PhDs. We have temporary faculty members from some IITs. Our professors are very helpful and understanding. They always make the students understand all the concepts in a particular topic and then move on to another topic.

Infrastructure and facilities are really good here.
Placements: Placements in our college are good. Multinational companies visit the college every year and offer a good number of placement opportunities. You must be skilled in your fields to get placed in good companies. Companies like Indian airforce, IOCL, NTPC, Adobe, Texas, Adverb, Mentor Graphics, etc., visit the campus and offer good placement opportunities.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is good. The college is provided with all necessary amenities for students. All the laboratories are well-equipped with instruments, computers and software according to students' needs. We have a spacious library with all kinds of books for enhancing the knowledge of students.
Faculty: Faculty members of our college are good. It is a government college, so you can't expect good teachers from here. All the teachers are highly qualified and experienced, but their way of teaching is not that satisfactory. Our course is good. Students need to do the project very carefully.

A rollercoaster ride at DTU.
Placements: The college provides top-notch placements. Placements literally go on throughout the year, providing students ample opportunities to grab a good salary package. A student can get a maximum of 2 offers. The highest salary package offered is 39 LPA while the average salary package offered is 10-12 LPA for CSE. Most CSE students get placed with the salary package of 12-15 LPA. The lowest salary package offered is 5 LPA. Opportunities for B.Tech students are better than M.Tech as they are allowed to attend for international companies from Japan, Mexico, and UAE.
Infrastructure: The buildings and campus architecture is amazing, but labs are horrible. While the management well maintains the campus infrastructure, the labs are ill -maintained and not updated. There are no servers with a good GPU/CPU in the computer lab to support good projects in machine learning. M.Tech classrooms are horrible with broken benches. B.Tech classrooms are good. Canteen food is similar to that of any other college in India, nothing special. Hostels are very limited when compared to the huge student intake. It is a big issue as academics are scheduled in favour of hostel students rather than day scholars. Single rooms are allotted 2nd year onwards. Freshers have to opt for triple sharing rooms.
Faculty: Faculty members in the college are very poor. They are not updated of the latest technologies and are least helpful during projects. However, students are super-talented and quite helpful. There are good student societies in DTU to help you out with placement preparations or showcase your projects. The course curriculum is industry based and not at all research oriented. Not all topics are updated, and the ones which are updated, be ready to learn them on your own as the teachers are not updated about them.
Other: DTU campus life and fests are one of the best in India. Multiple cultural societies like arts, craft, yoga, fitness, robotics, etc., are there in DTU, and they are very active. Engifest is the cultural fest which is sure to rock you up with major events organised every day. Apart from these, small events are conducted inside the campus throughout the year. DTU provides the best campus life one can possibly have.

Faculty members are well educated, but there is a bit of problem regarding the infrastructure.
Placements: Placements were not that good in the case of M.Tech. Only five students out of 15 from our batch were placed through campus placements. I was placed in TCS. Most IT companies and consultancy companies visit the campus for placements. Most of the B.Tech students get placements in IT and consulting companies. The average salary package offered is 3-5 LPA.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi facility is available on the campus. The college has a three-storey library. The computer centre is also available here. Various specialised doctors are available here for medical facilities. Food served in the canteen is good. Labs are available , but some equipment was missing.
Faculty: Teachers in our college were qualified and helpful. They follow the syllabus and conduct exams accordingly. They usually prefer powerpoint presentations for teaching. The course curriculum was useful and helpful in industrial application. There was a mandatory industrial training programme for B.Tech students.
Other: Technical, cultural, and sports fests are conducted here. Various extracurricular activities are conducted every year.

Placements are good and facilities provided are also good.
Placements: Placements are really good in our college. 95% of the students were placed. The highest package offered was 27 LPA, and the lowest was 5 LPA. Around 80 companies including Microsoft and Amazon visited the campus. I'm pursuing software engineering here, and thus, the roles offered were similar to my field. 30% of the students got an internship. The highest stipend offered was Rs. 30,000, and the lowest was Rs. 15,000.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is available 24 hours, and the classrooms are also good. The library is very big, and it contains all types of books for students and faculty. Sports ground has all kinds of sports facilities like football, table tennis, cricket, etc. Food is not much good in the canteen. Infrastructure is very good because we can find all the essential things very easily.
Faculty: Teachers are well-qualified and have technical knowledge. They share their knowledge and experience in a proper manner. They are really helpful to students. They help us in finding good projects and work on it. Teaching methods are new and updated, which help us in problem-solving.

My views on M.Tech Computer Science from DTU.
Placements: DTU being one of the top-notch Engineering colleges in India attracts a lucrative package. Nearly 70 % student from M.Tech CS had got placed on the campus only. Rest either decided to join some start-up or went to try for UPSC. All of my senior and junior batch who were sincere got placed from the college only. The average salary was nearly 9-10 Lacs with the highest reaching up to 21 Lacs. A few students don't sit in placements so I don't have any idea about the minimum package. Almost all the top IT companies visit DTU and offer a lot of different roles from developers to a tester to software analyst. Students do go for internships. I had decided to opt out of it because I was working on a project of my own. I don't have any solid idea about the stipend during placements but 40-50k is a safe BET to assume. We do have placement cell and it is very useful and highly active.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of DTU is good, providing all the modern facilities. The hostels have high-speed Wi-Fi and are on a twin sharing basis. The classrooms are good and labs are well-maintained particularly for the Computer Science labs. The medical facility is available on campus with ambulance service and we also have our college team for most of the sports activities. The library is modern, with all the latest books available and have a sitting capacity of more than 250 students. The canteen food is good but mess food is not as good as expected. Few canteens remain open up to late night offering Maggi, Tea, and juice. Hostel rooms are also well maintained and equipped with all the necessities. I didn't face any problem related to the infrastructure of the college.
Faculty: Most of the teachers are well qualified and have a proper hold on the subject. They do know the content well and often encourage questions. The teaching method is pre-reading followed by the discussion in the class so that students can get a proper hold of the subject. The lab assignments are also aligned with whatever we are learning in the class. The student-faculty ratio in Computer Science should be somewhat 12:1. We do get a lot of industry exposure and many students even get PPOs. The curriculum is very useful and highly insightful.

DTU journey was inspirational due to its legacy of producing unique and great thinkers.
Placements: Placements for M.Tech is relatively lower than B.Tech but decent high package jobs are available. Placement is evenly spaced throughout the last year of course. High opportunity of being placed in core and consulting companies if have aptly worked on CV and interviews. Around 50-60% of the class got placed and rest opted for higher studies and Ph.D/research. Separate Training & Placement Cell that efficiently handles the visiting companies. A lot of companies, nearly 500 collective for all branches hire during placement season. Few PSUs also hire like HPCL through GATE score. Nice exposure and high competition during the placement process. Also ample number of startups have begun to connect with campus placements.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is good, specially classrooms and Library as per government university (although IIT has better). Laboratories need to be upgraded. Overall good. Girls Hostel number need to be increased. The infrastructure has not been developed proportionately to the fee hike in recent 3-4 years after DCE's conversion to DTU.
Faculty: Although curriculum is outdated, faculty helps in bridging the gap through teaching of relevant and recent technological advancements and through project/ presentations. In every semester, M.Tech students has one project work where they have to present short report related to any recent technological advancement or they may present their new ideas with feasibility reports. Final semester is entirely dedicated for project /dissertations which needs execution of high quality research at DTU or in premier research labs across country (can be collaborative among different branches like Biotechnology and mechanical departments may work together for biodiesel project ).
Other: Campus is very happening. Although we don't have classes throughout the day, day is immensely hectic due to workshops, events, fest (annual+ departmental+ sports), art activities (dance, music, dramatics), conferences. Apart from this, its always motivating to interact with professors as they are subject matter experts and guide every student seeking help regarding trainings, jobs, projects, higher studies or future plans.

One of the future IIT. Not less than a IIT.
Placements: The placements of DTU are not less than IIT. Every year, 95% of students got placement, internship and PPO. It is great opportunity for them to be in DTU because every startup come for recruitment in DTU which provides entrepreneurship skills to students.
Infrastructure: It has a good infrastructure in terms of proper lab for every subject, each and every classroom has a projector, canteen, Maggi Baba, Library where students spend half of their day in DTU and the most famous OAT where students can spend their free time or hangout with their friends at Nescafe.
Faculty: The faculty of DTU is well qualified and well experienced form different institutions like IITs, IIITs etc. Which help students to enhance their knowledge in a particular field. The course curriculum is very structured and organized in itself. It is designed according to the competitive exams so that students can excel in their future. They got time to prepare for other competitive exams like CAT, GRE, GATE, XAT, etc.

The last date of online registration for M.Tech programs at DTU was 13.06.2019. The GATE marks above 40 are good enough for admission here.
