On Fees and Eligibility
Q:   Can I get into DTU without giving JEE?
5thumbs up
A:

No, candidates cannot get admission to DTU without appearing for JEE Main as the DTU BTech counselling is done through JAC Delhi. The basic criteria for admission to BTech is appearing for JEE Mains. To get into DTU, candidates must score decent marks or at least around 220 or above marks in JEE Mains. The only way to get into DTU without appearing for JEE Main is by taking a lateral entry admission to BTech second year. In order to do this, candidates must complete a Polytechnic course of two years and then appear for an entrance exam (not JEE Main but this exam will give you entry in DTU's second year.

Q:   Can I get DTU with 80 percentile in JEE Main via JAC Delhi?
A:
Usually, the cutoff for DTU stays around 90, even for the reserved categories. Therefore, getting into B.Tech courses at DTU is difficult with a JEE Main percentile score of 90 or below. The cutoff also goes high and low every year, depending on the following factors: Number of aspirants registered, The difficulty level of the exam, Total number of seats available, total number of applications received for a particular program, and the category under which admission is sought. Therefore, it is very difficult to predict the exact cutoff and give an exact answer to this question.
Q:   How good is MBA from DTU?
A:

In the recent 2022 MBA placements at DTU, Finance turned out to be the highest recruiting sector.  Additionally, the highest salary (domestic) offered stood at INR 19 LPA and the average salary stood at INR 8.9 LPA. Additionally, the total tuition fee for BTech (Evening) programme is INR 4 lakh. This structure of DTU fees for BTech, however, is sourced from unofficial sources. Hence is indicative. Q:   Is it worth pursuing BTech at DTU?
6thumbs up
A:

DTU ranked 29 under the 'Engineering' category by the NIRF 2023. There are many IITs ranked before DTU under the same category. Also, it competes against the top-notch NITs and second-phase IITs in several specialisations of BTech. Hence, it is safe to say that DTU is as good as an IIT or an NIT in northern India. In fact, The Times Rankings 2022 ranked DTU number 1 in the Delhi NCR region for 'Engineering' category.

DTU BTech students are placed in top companies like Samsung, Microsoft, Zomato, and others. Also the BTech fee is not very high. To clear JEE Main, candidates must study according to the JEE Main syllabus and appear for as many JEE Main mock tests as possible.

Q:   What is the placement scenario for MBA at DTU?
A:

The highest and average recorded for MBA DSM course in 2025 was 16.42 LPA and 7.74 LPA. 53 offers were made and 143 students registered in 2025. For MBA USME, highest and average package in 2025 was 22 LPA and 7.55 LPA. 52 offers were made this year.

B.Tech. in Engineering Physics - Batch of 2029

Excellent infrastructure, qualified faculty, and great placements .
Placements: Students usually find themselves in non-tech and tech roles in companies like Google, Microsoft, etc. The package varies a lot, with the highest ones going above 50 LPA, while the median is around 11 LPA. Many students also go for research at IITs, IISc, or a foreign university.
Infrastructure: The whole campus has Wi-Fi. There are multiple labs for each subject. There is also a 3-floor library with a huge collection of books. Hostels are good with above-average mess. There are many eateries on campus, like Domino's, AMUL, and Mother Dairy. A health center is also there, and you can avail medicine from there. The sports ground has options for most of the games, and there is usually a sports event taking place.
Faculty: All the teachers are well qualified, some being in the top 1-2% in the world. Lectures usually accompany labs and tutorials for better understanding. Curriculum is regularly updated, and students can also join clubs/societies for working on real-life projects or gaining experience. Semester exams are moderately difficult. Though some sections may have stricter checking based on the teacher, relatively grading saves the day if you are studying well. The pass percentage may vary a lot with the subject. While some may only have 2-3 students failing, others may have only a 50-60% pass percentage.

No placement, bad teacher, good environment.
Placements: No placement literally, if you are not good at scoring, you will be asked to leave the college, as on average, students don't get placed here. prepare skill which could pay you in the future, otherwise have no hope. DTU placement is like okay and bad for average students.
Infrastructure: Nothing is available, not even cricket bats, for the students. We pay a 2.5 Lacs fee and get almost no facility at all. Everything is used, I don't know why they don't have any facilities, and the sports complex is crooked, like it seems like sometimes it's a 3-tier college.
Faculty: Some teachers are very good, but some are really bad, like they don't have any sense, they don't think about your career or life for a second. Most of them are egoistic and bad, they will only help the toppers, and they will never help you with anything.
Other: Make good friends and have a fun time, you only live once, enjoy.

DTU is one of the best engineering colleges in the nation.
Placements: Almost 60-70% students are placed in my batch, while the overall percentage of the batch is 85-90%, everyone who studies decently gets placed easily here. The highest package may go upto 85 LPA domestic, and the average is around 16-17 LPA. Google and Amazon are major recruiting companies.
Infrastructure: The classrooms are fully air-conditioned, and the labs are first class, it has all the instruments for experiments here. The quality of mess food is decent, and all the hostel buildings are decent, while some are very huge and beautiful. Not all the boys' hostels are actually air-conditioned, but APJ Abdul Kalam one is air-conditioned. The sports complex is huge, 17 acres, and the facilities are awesome.
Faculty: The teachers are highly qualified and supportive, while some of them might be arrogant, especially in the electrical department. The curriculum is somewhat outdated, and many students prepare for placement on their own. The semester exams are decently tough, you would have to study for 2 weeks beforehand in order to get a good CGPA.
Other: There are many events and fests going on in the campus throughout the year, like Engifest, Aahvaan, Invictus, yuvaan and many more small events.

It is a good college with good faculty members.
Placements: The average package offered is around 5 LPA. Top recruiting companies for our course include KPMG, JP Morgan, Yes Bank, Britannia, etc. The college also provides students with internships. Placements are good in regard to it being a new business school. It's still growing.
Infrastructure: Facilities available are really great. We have centralised ACs and centralised heaters in every classroom. We have access to Wi-Fi, and there is a library too. There is no hostel, but various PGs and flats are available near the college. There is Nescafé, and we all crave for their Maggie.
Faculty: Teachers are well qualified and have graduated from top institutes such as IIMs and IITs. The course curriculum is updated according to the NEP. We have practicals in every subject, and they teach us the practical applications of them. Semester exams aren't that difficult, and the materials provided to us by teachers are enough.
Other: The best thing is that the course curriculum is updated. The faculty is really good. Fests organised here are great. We have techfest and sports fest all year round. The biggest is the Engifest. College is really active with many societies and activities that happen almost every day. It conducts sessions with industry leaders.

I am absolutely satisfied with the college.
Placements: The placement percentage of the batch passed through my branch is very good compared to other colleges. It has 70 percent placements. The average package offered is 13 LPA for a fresher, which is very good if we compare it with other NITs and top colleges.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi, labs, classrooms, and all are well air-conditioned. Proper sunlight is there. The cleanliness is well-maintained. The library of the college is very clean. It has all books related to the curriculum. The seating arrangement is also very good for someone to study without any difficulty.
Faculty: Teachers are good and highly qualified. The teaching quality is very good. The course curriculum is very relevant. It provides us with basics and hands-on knowledge. We have workshops where we can learn new things related to our branch practically and without rote learning.

There is a difficult course curriculum for Economics Honours.
Placements: About 50 percent of students get placed. The highest package offered is 12 LPA. The lowest package offered is 3 LPA. The average package offered is 8 LPA. Top companies like Accenture, Deloitte, KPMG, and Tata hire students. About 90 percent of students get internships from on-campus internship fairs in various companies, mostly small brands and businesses. Students also get placed as founder's office interns and as social media managers. The top role offered in my course is a data analyst, as data science is a minor degree in our course.
Infrastructure: Facilities are top-notch. Projectors and Wi-Fi are good for computers in labs. There are the latest computer models in labs. Classrooms are clean and well-equipped. The library has a huge number of copies of every book that is prescribed. It has a well-managed and friendly space for work. Hostels are not available. There is no mess or canteen. The canteen reopens often when someone buys a tender, and only to face loss. Only one badminton court and a volleyball court are available. Medical facilities are good. We also get facilities like first aid and medicines.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable. Teaching quality is okay. The course curriculum is more focused on rote learning rather than applied learning. I don't think it makes us industry-ready. Exams are very difficult. Especially, the new policy has made it more difficult to pass. The pass percentage is 70 percent.
Other: I chose this course because this is all I got. The best thing about my course is the data science subject, unlike other subjects. It is something applied and skill-based. My course should be taught more practically. The course curriculum should be easy. If we compare our curriculum to DU, then what we study in semester 3, they study in semester 6. We are covering at 2x speed. So when we reach semester 4, we are actually studying what is taught in master's in Delhi University. I don't understand the point of making it so tough for a bachelor's degree.

DTU Courses and Fees FAQs 2025

Q:   What all courses are offered by DTU?
A:

DTU comprises the DTU main campus, University School of Management and Entrepreneurship (also called DTU East Delhi campus) and the Delhi School of Management (DSM). Together they offer UG, PG and doctoral programmes in the field of Engineering, Design, Science and Management. The admission process is completely online and is conducted via the official website of DTU, DSM, USME or related counselling bodies.

Most popular for its BTech programme, Delhi Technological University (DTU) admission for BTech is based on JEE Main scores and the entire process of counselling is conducted by CMAT, Delhi. DTU admission to all the remaining courses is based on national/ university-level entrance exams, such as UCEED,  GATE,  CMAT,  CMAT, among others. However, there are a few MBA specialised courses and BBA, admission to which is offered based on the past qualifying exam  (UG level) followed by an interview round.

Q:   Which are the top 5 BTech specialisations offered at DTU?
A:

As per the JEE Main Round 1 cutoff released by DTU for admission to the BTech programme, BTech CSE, IT, Software Engineering, Mathematics & Computer Engineering and Electronics and Communication Engineering are the top five and most competitive specialisations offered here. The below table mentions the closing ranks of round 1 for all these specialisations for the past three years.

JEE Main Round 1 Closing Rank (General-All India)

BTech in Software Engineering483658713680
BTech in Mathematics and Computing Engineering627161903736
BTech in Electronics and Communication Engineering927876084540

Having said that, the selection of specialisations must be dependent on the choice and interest of the candidate before anything else.

Q:   Are UCEED dates out for admission to DTU?
A:

UCEED dates are out for admission. DTU students can check the complete schedule. The university will release the scorecard between March and July.

Q:   What is the MBA application fee at DTU?
A:

The application fee for all the MBA courses at DTU is INR 1,500. This fee component for the General MBA programme is the same for reserved category candidates. However, for SC/ST and PwD candidates, the registration fee is INR 750  (for MBA in BA, FBE and Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Venture Development) which needs to be paid online. The registration process will remain incomplete till the submission of the registration fee. For all courses, the application fee can be paid while filling out the application form on the official website.

Q:   Is there a separate entrance exam to get admission in DTU for B.Tech?
A:

For BTech admission, DTU accepts JEE Main followed by JAC counselling and the entire admission process is conducted via Joint Admission Counselling (JAC) Delhi. To be eligible, candidates must fulfil the below eligibility criteria:

  • Delhi Region candidates (85% of seats): Aspirants passing the qualifying exam from a recognised school/ college/ institute located within the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi will be considered for the Delhi Region only
  • Outside Delhi Region candidates (15% of seats): Aspirants passing the qualifying examination from a recognised school/ college/ institute located outside the National Capital Territory of Delhi will be considered for Outside Delhi Region only.
Q:   Which is better college to pursue for CSE, DTU or IIIT Delhi?
A:

JEE Main rank is accepted by both DTU and IIT Delhi, followed by the JAC Delhi counselling process for admission to various BTech specialisations. According to the JAC Delhi Round 1 cutoff 2025, the closing rank for CSE admission for the General AI category was 2285. While for IIT Delhi it was 8171.

Therefore, going by the cutoff for both institutions, IIT Delhi is relatively easier for CSE admissions. Although those candidates who qualified for DTU can view other parameters to consider for a better, more knowledgeable decision.

Q:   Can I get DTU at 93 percentile for MBA admission?

Delhi Technological University accepts CAT scores for admission to the MBA course. As per DTU cut off 2024, the overall CAT percentile Cutoff was 85 for the General category student.
