A good experience overall.
Placements: Placements in psychology aren't that great because of the kind of subject. But still, Jamaica offers placements, especially those who specialise in OB because PG is the required qualification, but in clinical MPhil is mostly required. In our senior batch, the highest placement in OB went to 60k p.m, and in clinical it went to around 30k p.m.
Infrastructure: One thing I like the most about Jamia is it's great library and reading halls. We spend most of our time there. Very good environment to study. In the psychology department specifically, the infrastructure isn't that great but the university has plenty of resources. Hostel facilities are also good but there are fewer seats and not everyone who applies for a hostel gets it.
Faculty: The teachers are great and exceptional in there respective fields and if one has interests in research and academia, they'll be of great help. Classes aren't very regular and strict; they're flexible. I feel that the course curriculum is a little outdated. It's easy to pass the exams.
Other: One of the best things that Jamia offers is the diversity. You meet and interact with people from different parts of the country, different backgrounds and different ideologies, which helps develop your knowledge about things, encourages critical thinking and pushes one out of their comfort zone. It results in a kind of holistic development of a person.

Poor hostel facilities, infrastructure, and unavailability of classrooms.
Placements: Only 6-7 students are normally getting placed every year, that too only in the field of organizational behavior as HR, etc. Placements in the counseling field are very rare and most students find work on their own efforts. Placement percentage could be 1-2%. Students have to find internships on their own and the department is not responsible for it.
Infrastructure: The lack of facilities and infrastructure is a great concern because we don't even have proper classrooms and this is a field that requires a laboratory with updated instruments and equipment, which we lack. We often have to wait 2 hours for another class because we don't have a classroom. We do have enough hostels but the facilities provided in each hostel differ. In my hostel, we get very oily foods and often have to wait for a long time to get food. They are not even willing to change the mess contractor; poor hygiene; no Wi-Fi; the lift often gets stuck.
Faculty: Almost all facilities are qualified but some of them at times behave like an uneducated one by the way they talk and interact with the students, often being sarcastic for not knowing Hindi properly. The syllabus is not updated but the pass percentage is high; almost every student passes the examination but we do have to write a lot for a single question itself.
Other: I chose this course because I have interest in my subject and wanted to explore more in this field. It would be better if they can include more fieldwork like in other universities, such as national conference, case studies discussions, etc. We do have programs in the department as well as association programs.

Great professors, good infrastructure, good vibe.
Placements: My department do have a placement cell but it's not functioning and as far as I know no one got any placement anywhere but there are some other departments. They're providing 100% placement for their students like MSW, faculty of engineering, tourism etc.
Infrastructure: Many faculties of Jamia is providing best infrastructure for their student and one of them is faculty of engineering and students are getting free wifi everywhere. We also have huge reading room facilities which is a big advantage for students which is open till 12:00 am but when it comes to psychology department we're struggling with the availability of classroom as we don't have that much classroom so my department is lacking in this aspect.
Faculty: Im really satisfied with the professors and everyone's highly qualified in many areas like research etc and they're all very much engaging in class as well. Professors are the highlight of my department and they all are very encouraging for every thing be it academics or other events etc.

My journey in Jamia Millia Islamia
Placements: In my class, there are 46 students. The pass-out batch (our seniors) are placed in many places. Some of them enrolled for PhD and MPhil. Some of them have qualified NET and are working as assistant professors. Some of them are working as consultant psychologists.
Infrastructure: We have free Wi-Fi access, huge library facilities, and reading halls. But the psychology department has poor infrastructure.
Hostel facilities are good. Veg and non-veg foods are available there. Separate study areas and free Wi-Fi facilities are also there.
Faculty: Faculties are very helpful. Their teaching quality is good. They are very supportive in our academic journey. But the psychology syllabus is not updated. That is a minus point. That's why it is easy to get scores. We have two sessional examinations and one final exam in each semester.
Other: The campus life is good. Community feeling is better there. Many scholarships are available, including governmental and non-governmental organisations. Also there is Jamia's own scholarship is available.
There are many events happening in every department. We can enjoy every fest. Campus crowd is good. Social connection there is good.

Best campus, bad infrastructure of Psychology department, and best faculties.
Placements: As I am a psychology student, placement in this course is not that active on my campus. But there is a placement cell with which we have affiliation. But the thing is, my seniors (the previous passed-out batch) have been admitted to different universities for M.Phil. and PhD.
Infrastructure: Hostel is good. There is good infrastructure and mess. But the Department of Psychology is bad. There are no separate class rooms for PG and UG. Programmes are conducted on corridors. There is free WiFi on campus. We have a vast library and large reading halls with air conditioning. We have many canteens where Veg and Non-Veg are available. We have fee consultation facilities at the hospital. We have a big sports complex where we can practice.
Faculty: Faculties are really helpful. But syllabus is not that updated. There are two sessions before every semester exams, and every exam was conducted on time.
The semester exam is not that difficult for those who studied. At least two modules from every subject come in the exams.
Other: It was my dream to study in Jamia. By God's grace, I cracked the entrance exam and got admission. The campus is perfect, and the events here are entertaining.
Only negative is the bad infrastructure of the psychology department. Also, the best thing about my course is the compulsory internship during the third semester; it was a really good experience and will make us capable of becoming good psychologists.

I had a great experience here.
Placements: Jamia has its own central university placement cell. This department takes cares and manages all the matters related to placements. So we don't have specific placement event for our course. Every department has its own placement cell coordinator who communicates between the board of placement cell and students, with the help of other student volunteers.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college is great. The entire campus is green and pretty. The central library is huge, with great facilities. Along with the central library, every department has its own library. Classrooms are pretty good. Wi-Fi facility is available for the students. Students can seek free treatment from physiotherapy department and dental department.
Faculty: Faculty and staff members here are pretty helpful. They all try their best to complete the syllabus on time. Curriculum sometimes seems too much, but it's really good. As the internship programme is a mandatory part of the curriculum to get the exposure, it is something I really like about our curriculum.

Review of Jamia Millia Islamia.
Placements: Our department does not provide any placement. However, there is a central placement cell of Jamia Millia Islamia, which provides placements in all departments. The notification is sent to all the relevant departments, and the students can opt for internships.
Infrastructure: The psychology department has its computer laboratory with internet for students. The lab is updated with recent software like SPSS. The environment and infrastructure of the university are very pleasant. The campus is lush green, which makes it look pretty.
Faculty: Faculty members of the psychology department are well-qualified with at least a PhD degree. Teachers are also experienced and skilled in their respective fields. The courses curriculum covers all the different branches of Psychology. Every semester, they provide practical papers.

I have applied for psychology and my marks in 12th is 85%. Will I get admission?
