The criteria for PhD at LPU is mentioned below:
- Master degree with 55% to 65% aggregate or equivalent grades
- One year PG degree with 55% aggregate marks or equivalent grades after a four-year/ eight semester bachelor degree.
LPU PhD fee structure is a combination of several fee components including tuition fee, hostel fees, examinaition fees, caution deposit, and other fees. The LPU PhD tuition fee ranges between INR 3 lakh - INR 7.2 lakh.
The fees for the other components is yet to be revealed by LPU for PhD students. The LPU fees might be charged on either per semester of per annum basis.
LPU does not offer direct admission. However, admission to few courses is merit-based. Aspirants scoring a 65% aggregate have a good chance of getting admission in LPU. Candidates seeking admission must visit the official website of the university to apply online. To apply for LPU, aspirants need to register for LPUNEST for admission to undergraduate and postgraduate courses. LPU admission to most of the courses is based on LPUNEST score. However, national-level entrance exam scores are also accepted for admission to BA LLB (Hons), MBA, BTech, etc. Candidates must complete Class 12 for UG courses and graduation for PG courses. The selection rounds are followed by counselling and document verification.

Candidate passed with mentioned aggregate marks or equivalent grades prescribed by UGC in the Master's Degree (2 year or 4 semester Master’s Degree after a 3 year Bachelor’s Degree ) or equivalent in the relevant subject are eligible to apply.
Candidate who has completed 1-year/2-semester master's degree in M.Tech. or M.E. or MS ( with Power Systems or Solar Energy or Energy Systems or Power Electronics or EE or I&CE or EI & CE or Robotics & Automation) or equivalent with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks or equivalent grades prescribed by UGC after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree is also eligible.
If an institute has conversion factor of 9.5 then CGPA of 7.5 will not result in 75% marks and hence such a candidate will not be eligible.A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC or ST or OBC (non-creamy layer) or Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time.
