NLU Assam BA LLB (Hons) Courses & Fees 2025: Admission, Eligibility, Important Dates, Seats

NLU Assam offers BA LLB programme specialised in law. The table below covers the total tuition fee for popular courses offered at NLUJAA:

For admission to BA LLB (Hons) course at NLUJAA candidates have to register through CLAT portal. Registered candidates for CLAT 2025 counselling will be called by NLUJAA through five provisional merit lists, each released by the Consortium of CLAT. Candidates, who have been allocated a seat in the provisional lists and applied for revision, should check the status of their seat in the CLAT provisonal lists. Those, who have been allotted a seat in the NLU Assam Provisional Allotment Lists, must complete the process of exercising any one of the actions mentioned below:

1. Accept the allotted seat
2. Apply for Revise
3. Exit from the CLAT admission process

If alloted seat is accepted by the candidate. After, that the candidates need to report to NLU Assam for admission. The admission confirmation requires, documents submission and fees submission by the candidates through the official portal of NLU Assam.

The closing rank for CLAT Fourth Provisional Allocation List for NLUJAA BA LLB course is 2271 for the General category students. Consortium of National Law Universities (CNLU) releases institute wise and course-wise CLAT Provisional Allotment lists on the official website at consortiumofnlus.ac.in/clat-2023 for NLU admissions 2023 to BA LLB course. For admission to NLU Assam for the LLB or LLM course, the result of CLAT 2024 can be expected by the last week of December 2023 After the release of result, the exam takers will be able to download their CLAT scorecards from the official website using their login credentials for NLU Assam admission via CLAT counselling and seat allotment.

CLAT 2024 result contains details like the candidate's overall and sectional scores, and merit rank. Those who will qualify CLAT 2024 by meeting the required minimum cutoff as per the merit list are called for counselling process for seat allotment.

Note that for admission to the 5-year LLB or LLM courses, the candidate will have to meet the CLAT 2024 cut-off in their respective category. The CLAT 2024 merit rank list will be shared at the time of admission and seat allotments. Candidates ranked higher in CLAT 2024 merit list will be given preference during the seat allotment process.

For admission to the one-year LLM or five-year LLB at NLU Assam, the CLAT test was conducted on Dec 3, 2023. Aspirants of NLU Assam were required to appear for the exam in offline pen-paper mode at the allotted test centres. Candidates could complete the CLAT registration 2024 until Nov 3, 2023 in online mode. The exam took place in more than 125 cities listed as CLAT 2024 test centres in 22 states and UTs. The detailed schedule of CLAT 2024 was declared along with the CLAT Exam Centers 2024.

• The CLAT question paper for undergraduate courses has total 120 passage-based objective-type questions from five subjects - English Language,  Logical Reasoning,  Legal Reasoning, CLAT Affairs including General Knowledge and Quantitative Techniques. 

• The CLAT LLM question paper has both objective- and subjective-type questions. However, last year, the CLAT Consortium removed the descriptive section from the LLM paper. Check complete CLAT 2024 exam pattern for LLM.

The NLU Assam placement report is yet to be released on the official website. Once it is released, the placement rate will be updated here. However, as per the NLU Assam NIRF report 2023, only 1 student was placed out of total 57 students in 2021.

Top law firms including AZB & Partners, Fox Mandal & Associates, Majmudar & Co., S & R Associates, Seth Dua & Co., P & A Law Offices, Khaitan & Co., and many more take part in the NLU placement process and recruit students. Placement at NLU Assam happens all year long because the training and placement office organises campus recruitments for final-year students. The highest package reported in NLUs was INR 16.50 Lacs per year, and the lowest package recorded was INR 6.5 Lacs per year, according to NIRF data.

Candidates aspiring for NLU Assam admission to BA LLB and LLM courses must have a valid score in CLAT in order to be eligible for the further CLAT Counselling for the final admission. Also, as per the opening and closing ranks for NLU Assam General category candidates with a rank of 862 are eligible for admission. The NLU Assam CLAT Cutoff 2026 was released till Round 1 for admission to various law couses at UG and PG level. The cutoff was published in the form of opening and closing ranks for all categories belonging to the All India and Home State quota. 

The NLU Assam Cutoff 2026 ranged from 1322 to 1764 for enrolment in the BA LLB (Hons) and LLM course for the General AI category, according to the Round 1 closing ranks. Students who belong to this category need to attain a rank between this range to increase their chance of grabbing a seat.  Students can refer to the table below to know the cutoff for all available courses for the General AI category.

After filling out the application form for National Law University & Judicial Academy, Assam admissions, candidates must appear for the CLAT exam followed by the exam's counselling process. The university evaluates the forms of candidates and grants admission to candidates based on the CLAT marks. However, the time frame of admission confirmation has not be specified by the university. 

National Law University offers admission based on merit and entrance exams. Aspiring candidates qualify the eligibility criteria set by the univeristy for the admission.
