Good placements and faculty.

Placements: In our college, the placements are handled by the training and placement cell under the supervision of the faculty through a process that optimizes the interest of both the students and the companies. The students' committee gets involved in the process right from corporate interactions to the pre-placement talk and coordinating activities during the placement process. I am in the pre-final year so the placement process hasn't started for our batch. As far as the placements of my senior batch are concerned, 80% of the batch is placed till date and the placement process is still going on for them. The highest salary offered is approximately 9.5 lakhs and the lowest salary offered is approximately 3.5 lakhs. The average is about 5.2 lakhs. Companies like Reliance, KBR, Bechtel, UOP, Vedanta, Petrofac, Loreal, Jubilant Life Sciences, Nestle, Cadbury, Cairn, Infosys, Akash Institute, Britannia, Coca-Cola, Haldor Topsoe, EXL services, Evive Health Care, ZS Associates, Zycus Infotech etc. recruit the students. Roles that are offered in different companies are of business operation associate, technology analyst, business analyst, data analyst, programmer analyst, graduate engineering trainee, management trainee, etc. This year 70% students have got an internship from the college. The highest stipend that was offered was Rs. 50000/- and the lowest stipend that was offered was Rs. 5000/-. The average stipend rounds out to Rs. 20000/-.

Infrastructure: The entire university has been centrally connected to a hi-speed Wi-Fi network. Books and volumes of journals, thesis/dissertations, rare books, reports, government documents, back files of newspapers and a priced collection of manuscripts are available in the library. The online catalogue can be accessed through the campus Wi-Fi network. The classrooms are big and have a laddered structure for the better visibility of the board. Each classroom has a projector and has ACs. There is a medical centre inside the campus and has a 24*7 ambulance service available. The university highly encourages students for sports and has various facilities for football, basketball, lawn tennis, badminton, tall tennis, swimming, squash, archery, shooting range, gymnastics, kho-kho etc. Our college has a wonderful location, it is close to the student centre (STU-C), it is close to the central library and it is also close to gate no. 1 of the campus, so the students have easy access to public transport. The hostel rooms are pretty nice, they have Godrej cupboards, bed-boxes, study tables , book racks, etc. Our college has facilities of Pilot Plant, Unit Operation Lab, Central Facility Lab (Purse Lab) Engineering Laboratories and Workshops, Chemical Laboratories, Computer Lab, Petroleum Engineering laboratories, Research Laboratories, Environmental Engineering Laboratories, etc. I personally haven't faced any infrastructure related issues during my tenure at my college.

Faculty: The faculty is highly, knowledgeable, qualified and helpful. They are one of the greatest assets that we have. They are not only knowledgeable but all of them have an experience of working in a corporate industry or a multinational companies. They help the students in choosing their career paths and guide them whenever required. The teaching methods that the professors use are classroom teaching, through presentations and for live examples taking through labs. The student to faculty ratio is 40:1. We have had industrial exposure through the summer industrial training that is included in our course. The curriculum is very carefully designed and is highly useful for different job appointments.

Other: Our college has courses in bachelor of engineering (chemical), bachelor of engineering (chemical) with MBA(Dual Degree), M.E. (chemical) (chemical engineering thermodynamics, chemical reaction engineering, heat and mass transfer, distillation, process dynamics and control, engineering materials , process modelling and simulation), M.Tech. (polymer) (chemical technology, chemical process calculation, unit process, industrial pollution control), M.E. (food technology) M.Sc. (industrial chemistry) and Ph.d.

Panjab University should be your number 1 preference.

Placements: Placements of the department are very good and as per the calibre of the students. Around 60% of the students get placed. The average package offered by the companies is around 4.5 LPA. The students are offered the post of data analysts by most of the companies which come for the recruitment.The companies visit the campus for around a period of 6-8 months thereby providing students with a great window of opportunity. According to the policy of the department, any student who gets a placement once is not allowed to sit for subsequent companies which provide equal opportunities to all students.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the department is as per the standards and requirements. All the labs and classrooms are well equipped but need some amendments. The campus is fully Wi-Fi enabled. The labs have recently been replaced by new equipment and the grants received by the department are utilised in a proper manner. The classrooms are now air conditioned. Projectors are provided in each class. The administrative staff is very efficient and helpful. Hostels are clean and the food is provided to the students at subsidised rates.

Faculty: The faculty is very helpful. They are always keen to help the students in all sorts of problems. The faculty is easily accessible in the department and at any time as per the requirements of the students. All teachers leave campus at 5 pm in the evening and research is done even on weekends. All teachers are highly qualified and most of them are PhD holders. Even the guest faculty appointed are research scholars who are student friendly and easily available at all times. The course material is relevant and to the point. More emphasis on practical knowledge is put rather than theoretical knowledge.

Other: The campus is aesthetically perfect. There are green areas and gardens all around. Many symposiums and international conferences are organised on a regular basis which helps the students to grow. The campus comprises of students of all cultural and economic backgrounds and there is a huge diversity to experience for its students.

Satisfactory placements, experienced faculty and improvement in infrastructure required.

Placements: The placements are satisfactory. At least 60% of the students are placed. The highest package is 7.5 lacs per annum. Reliance, Honeywell UOP, Mu Sigma, Vedanta, Jubilant Life Sciences and many other companies visited our department. Roles offered to the students are of junior engineers and that of junior managers for the ones with MBA profiles. Internships are good and about 70% of students have got the internship opportunities with a stipend of around Rs. 5000 per month.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure is satisfactory too. Projectors and other equipments are there in each classroom but some of them are not working properly, so regular service is required . Also, the labs are well-maintained with proper air-conditioning and lighting. Wi-Fi is accessible almost everywhere. There is a shortage of books for MBA courses in the library. .

Faculty: The faculty members are experienced, knowledgeable and helpful. The methods adopted include well-prepared presentations and other activities. Various workshops are.organized. But sometimes the teachers are appointed bit late which leads to added burden of covering the whole syllabus within the limited time.

A great place for wholesome development of students.

Placements: The placements at our campus are good since a long time. Our department, being one of the oldest departments of the University, holds a very good reputation. Therefore, it is not very difficult to attract good companies here for recruitments. Companies like Reliance, Jubilant Life Sciences, EXL, Evive Healthcare, Spray Engineering have been the recruiters in the past. The average pay package is around 3-4 lakhs per annum while the highest is 8.5 lakhs per anum. Our seniors are holders of prestigious positions in the public as well as private sector companies which is a great help to the juniors.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure is good. Labs are well equipped. Lab staff is very helpful. The campus is full Wi-Fi enabled. High speed internet has been a great help for the students to grow. There is a separate dispensary where all medical issues of students can be resolved. Canteens have clean food and a lot of variety. Hostel rooms are average. They are low on maintenance however. Classrooms are spacious and proper lighting is there. Each classroom has a projector and is air conditioned.

Faculty: The faculty is knowledgeable and friendly. They create a free atmosphere for discussion in the classroom. You can ask as many questions as you want. There are around 40 students in our class. Teaching is generally done through presentations. The course material is relevant and sufficient. There are however no industrial trips organised by the department. This area needs improvement.

Other: Panjab University has a world class A.C. Joshi Library. It is fully digital in nature. Fully Wi-Fi enabled. Books are arranged in a highly ordered manner. Every festival is celebrated with great pomp and show on campus. It has a great culture. Students from different fields interact with each other which shapes their personality for the better. This place is perfect for the wholesome development of students of all disciplines.

Good placements in 2016 and quite satisfied with my chemical department.

Placements: The placements of our senior batch are quite satisfactory. Most of the students are placed in reputed companies with good packages. The highest package was approximately 7 lakhs whereas the lowest package was around 3.5 lakhs. Companies like Evive Healthcare, Jubiliant Life Sciences, Reliance, Spray Engg. Devices, Godrej etc visited the campus for the placement drive. The roles offered are in banking. finance, IT, management consulting and data analysis. 40-50% got the internship from the department itself. The highest stipend offered in Jubiliant at Rs. 5000.

Infrastructure: Various facilities such as libraries, labs and classrooms are available with a good infrastructure. The Wi-Fi speed in PU campus is superb. Labs are available with each and every equipment. Food is delicious and prices are also legitimate. Hostel rooms are comparatively smaller that it should be. The room size should be a bit larger for 2 students to stay.

Faculty: Teachers who are teaching are experts in their respective subjects. They are knowledgeable and qualified and I personally have a good experience with them. Projectors and greenboards are used particularly for studying. We did not get that much of industry exposure except in training. The course curriculum is useful and relevant with engineering.
