Pros and cons of joining in the department of environmental studies, Panjab University.
Placements: I never heard of the placements on the campus. Neither two of my senior batches nor my next two (current) batches have heard of it in our department. The professors are a kind enough to direct you towards the different avenues of placement. Not a single company was ever called to the campus for the placements.
Infrastructure: A total of two classrooms, four staff rooms, two labs, which is used only for practical examinations, one computer lab, and the office are on the campus. A bit difficult to find the department of environmental studies, which is located at the back side of the building, usually where people will not enter. I've heard that the labs have an adequate quantum of chemicals, but I've never seen single equipment specialised for the department of science. We have the basic number of equipment like pH meter, furnace, centrifuge, spectrophotometer, etc., but they are covered with thick plastic sheets. I hope that they work.
Faculty: This is the one thing that I am proud of my college. The faculty members are a bit straightforward, and initially they might sound rude, but eventually, they are soft and knowledgeable. Around, 1/4th of faculty members (I won't name) took a total number of 12 (maybe less than 20) lectures in two years without a paper, the lectures were completed and the rest of the three faculty members as well. I don't think anyone can beat the quality of them. The course is completely relevant and justifies to the subject itself. The rest is fine.
Other: The department is excellent for those, who are preparing for the other exams like SSC, UPSC, etc. This department gives you a decent amount of time to focus on the other things. Also, the burden and the course fee is less, so it is in favour of the students only. The smart ones will utilise the spare time and may achieve well in their life without showing any gap in their studies.

The department can be averagely rated.
Placements: The department does not offer any placements. No company visits the campus. 0% students get internships and jobs with the help of the department. It is with their individual efforts that they can get placed somewhere after the course ends.
Infrastructure: The university Wi-Fi is accessible. There are a departmental library and a computer lab. Also, the labs are available for the practicals. The classroom has sufficient furniture and the necessary equipment. Each classroom has a projector. Backup for the electricity is also provided.
Faculty: The faculty members are qualified and experienced. There are post-doctorate and doctorate students also in the department which increases the exposure to the research. Each of the faculty members has their own area of expertise which helps the students to get information correctly.
