PhD is offered in full-time and part-time mode. PhD (part-time) is offered in three to six-year duration divided into six to 12 semesters, respectively. Candidates can gain admission to PhD through the Visvesvaraya PhD Scheme for Electronics and IT-Phase II or the AICTE QIP Scheme.

SRM Chennai PhD admission is a multi-step procedure. Admission to the doctoral-level programme is entrance-based. The steps involved in the admission procedure are registration, application form filling, document upload, application fee payment, document verification, provisional order and enrollment. Yes, all full-time PhD scholars who are shortlisted for provisional registration are paid INR 25,000 per month for a maximum period of three years. Those who have qualified in UGC NET (including JRF)/ CSIR NET (including JRF)/ GATE/ GPAT are paid INR 31,000 per month for a maximum period of three years. The eligibility for availing stipend every year, subsequent to the provisional registration, is based on the progress made in research during the previous year, as part of PhD.
