Vellore Institute of Technology has been established with the purpose of delivering excellent higher education on par with global requirements. The alumni committee at VIT maintains a record of each student's occupation, address, phone number, and other informational contact details. Former classmates frequently plan many meetings and host events, produce newsletters and journals, participate in university fundraising efforts, and serve as role models for their university and profession. Members can connect professionally, organise events, and take part in reunion activities. They can support their institution by maintaining contact with their connections. Also, students can maintain relationships with individuals who have successfully completed a variety of educational experiences at the same university.

There are several national and international branches of the VITAA (Vellore Institute of Technology Alumni Association) network, which is continuously growing. Chennai,

Bengaluru, Mumbai, Kolkata, Delhi, Pune, Hyderabad, Vellore, Chittoor, Puducherry, Coimbatore, Salem, VGA (Vijayawada, Guntur and Amaravati), Visakhapatnam, and Bhopal are among the cities where the national chapters are active. The "Distinguished Alumni Award" is given to alumni who have distinguished themselves in the fields of Academia, Research, Business, Entrepreneurship, and Social development. Every year, the Young Alumni Achiever Award is given to a successful young alumnus under 30 years of age who has made significant advancements in their area of specialisation. Every year, meritorious students are also given VITAA Scholarships.

"TRACKS" is an annual publication that reports and covers the alumni accomplishments as well as events and developments at VIT. Additionally, VITAA engages in a variety of charitable endeavours to enhance the good of society, including tree planting, visits to orphanages etc. Every year on January 26th, alumni gather at the campus of VIT for the Annual Alumni Meet, where they catch up with friends, teachers, and staff members.

Some of the notable alumnae of Vellore Institute of Technology:

Dr. Gautam Dasarathy: He finished his under-graduate degree in B.Tech ECE at Vellore Institute of Technology in the batch of 2004–2008. Then, he completed his doctorate degree at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. He is now an Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering at Arizona State University in the United States. He has professional experience of around 12 years.

Mr. C. Srijith Menon:  Residing in Chennai, he finished his under-graduate degree in BBA at Vellore Institute of Technology in the batch of 2011 to 2014. He later completed his postgraduation at the University of Greenwich in London with an MBA. He is now in the position of a Senior Trade and Investment Adviser within the Department for International Trade. He has professional experience of around 8 years.

She completed her undergrad degree in B.Tech Bio-Medical Engineering at Vellore Institute of Technology in the 2013-2017 batch. Post which, she had completed her doctorate degree at the National University of Singapore. She is now in the position of a Research Fellow at The National Institute of Health. She has professional experience of around 3 years.

Ms. Sakshi Mishra: She finished her under-graduate degree in B.Tech Electrical & Electronics Engineering at Vellore Institute of Technology in the batch of 2010 to 2014. She is now pursuing her doctorate degree at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. She is currently in the position as Senior Autonomous System Engineer at Microsoft. She has had professional experience of around 11 years. She is a Forbes 30 under 30 honoree.

Mr. Abhishek Kumar Garg IAS: Belonging from Jharkhand, he finished his under-graduate degree in B.Tech Mechanical Engineering at Vellore Institute of Technology from the batch of 2013 to 2017. He is now in the position of Assistant Secretary in the Ministry of Finance, which comes under Indian Administrative Services.

I, Ponnila SM born in Salem and brought up in Mayiladuthurai, completed my undergraduate in Electrical and electronics engineering at SASTRA University.
