The total marks of VITEEE question paper are 500 with -1 negative marking, and 2.5 hours time limit. VIT Vellore is the main campus and the most demanding one out of all four campuses. These campuses have a more relaxed cutoff and go up to 2 lakh rank. However, for core CSE branch at VIT AP or Bhopal, a rank under 30000 is usually enough.

• Number of safe attempts - 80 to 90 questions with 85% accuracy

How to score 450 marks in VITEEE 2026: Section-Wise Breakdown

Here is a section-wise breakdown on how to allocate each section timely without causing burnout during the exam. Before we begin to discuss, students must go through VITEEE 2026 exam hall instructions carefully. 

As per the notification issued by authorities, candidates are not allowed to sit idle for more than 20 minutes and they are closely monitored through CCTV. Any misuse in code of conduct can lead to candidature rejection. 

• Maths: This section is usually tough with lengthy questions at times. Many students run out of time while solving Maths section itself. Now, with negative marking, accuracy with number of safe attempts goes hand-in-hand. So, what’s the solution? Aim for at least 32 to 35 correct attempts.

Tip: Solve VITEEE PYQs and pay attention to VIT high-weightage chapters. Avoid starting anything new.

• Physics and Chemistry: With a total of 70 questions together. Start with easiest section, which is Chemistry. As per the previous analysis and trends, Chemistry questions are usually direct and comes straight from NCERT or PYQs. Try attempting Chem section in 30 minutes maximum. Aim for 27+ questions for Physics and Chemistry.
