Applicants who want admission to Bachelor of Technology at Vellore Institute of Technology should have cleared VITEEE or Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main)

After qualifying entrance tests, admission to MBA is provided based on the student’s performance in the group discussion and personal interview rounds.

With the goal of offering excellent higher education, the Vellore Institute of Technology has been established. This continuous goal of excellence is motivated by the international guidelines required at VIT in the fields of education and research. The courses are grouped in accordance with the specifications of the government regulators and the Choice Based Credit System is used. Studies for skill and talent development are included in the programs.

This institution provides nearly 90 courses at the undergraduate level, postgraduation level and doctorate level. These courses are divided into various categories such as Engineering, Technology, Science, Law, and Management. Admission is provided based on the entrance exams conducted by the institution. Entrance exams conducted by the Government of India are also accepted for admission.

The top courses provided at Vellore Institute of Technology are:

  • Bachelor of Technology (BTech)
  • Master of Technology (MTech)
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA)

For BTech 

Applicants who want admission to Bachelor of Technology should have cleared VITEEE or Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main). Students who score the highest percentage in the VITEEE exam or more than 75% in JEE exam are eligible. Eligible students are called for admission. Admission is provided based on the total marks scored in class 12 and the percentage scored in VITEEE or JEE  Main exam.

For MTech 

Applicants who want admission to Master of Technology should have cleared VITMEE. Students who score the highest percentage in VITMEE are eligible and are called for admission. Admission is provided based on the percentage scored in undergraduation and the percentage scored in the VITMEE exam.

For MBA 

Applicants who want admission to Master of Business Administration should have cleared VITBEE or Common Aptitude Test (CAT) or Management Aptitude Test (MAT). Students who score the highest percentage in the VITBEE exam are eligible. Students who score more than 50% in CAT or MAT exams are eligible. Eligible students are called for admission. Admission is provided based on the percentage scored in undergraduation and the percentage scored in VITBEE or CAT or MAT exams.

Exam Dates

VITEEE: VITEEE is an entrance exam conducted by the Vellore Institute of Technology for students who want to pursue their education in bachelor’s degree courses. This exam is held once a year in June. Applicants have to apply for the exam on the respective institution’s website from March to May. Admit cards for the exam can be downloaded one week prior to the exam. Results are announced in the mid of June. Based on the results, admission to BTech is provided.

VITMEE: VITMEE is an entrance exam conducted by this institution for students who want to pursue their education in master’s degree courses. This exam is held once a year in June. Applicants have to apply for the exam on the respective institution’s website from March to May. Admit cards for the exam can be downloaded one week prior to the exam. Results are announced in the mid of June. Based on the results, admission to MTech courses is provided.

VITBEE: VITBEE is an entrance exam conducted by VIT for students who want to pursue their education in management courses. This exam is held once a year in June. Applicants have to apply for the exam on the respective institution’s website from March to May. Admit cards for the exam can be downloaded one week prior to the exam. Results are announced in the mid of June. Based on the results, admission to MBA courses is provided.

JEE Main: Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main) is an entrance exam conducted by the Government of India for students who want to pursue their education in Engineering and Technology. This exam is held twice a year in the month of April and May. Applicants have to apply for the exam on the respective website in March or April. Admit cards for the exam can be downloaded one week prior to the exam. Results are announced within one month after the exam takes place. The duration of the exam is three hours. Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from classes 11 and 12 are covered.

CAT: Common Aptitude Test (CAT) is an entrance exam conducted by the Government of India for students who want to pursue their postgraduation in management. This exam is held once a year in the month of November. Applicants have to apply for the exam on the respective website from August to September. Admit cards for the exam can be downloaded in October. Results are announced in January. The duration of the exam is two hours. Verbal & Quantitative Ability, Logical Reasoning, Data Interpretation and Reading Comprehension are covered.

MAT: The Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is a general aptitude test conducted for students who want to pursue their career in management studies. This exam is held four times a year in the month of February, May, September and December. Applicants have to apply for the exam on the respective website one month before the examination. Admit cards for the exam can be downloaded one week prior to the examination. Results are announced after one month of the examination. Language Comprehension, Data Analysis & Sufficiency, Mathematical Skills, Intelligence and Critical Reasoning are covered.

GD/PI: For admission to MBA, group discussions and personal interviews are conducted for students who have scored the highest percentage in VITBEE or CAT or MAT exams. Admission is provided based on the student’s performance in the group discussion and personal interview rounds.

I do go with Thapar. A friend did M.Sc there and had a good experience with faculty and research exposure. VIT is also good, but personally I'd rank it Thapar > VIT > Banasthali for M.Sc Chemistry.
