A great college and campus life with lots of fun.

Placements: About 83 percent of students in chemical engineering are placed during the placement season. The highest package is somewhat around 50 to 55 LPA, the lowest is 10 LPA, and the average is around 22.76 LPA. The median package is 20 LPA. Top recruiting companies include Cisco, JPMC, Capital One, Goldman Sachs, Amazon, ITC, Amex, Morgan Stanley, etc. Roles mostly are in consultancy, data analytics, and a few get software development roles as well. Internship opportunities are not as good as placements. About 30 percent get internship roles, mostly in consultancy, pharmaceuticals, data analytics, etc.

Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is available unlimited, labs are well-equipped, and classrooms are good, but they are located about 3 km away from some hostels. The library is open 24/7. Bus transportation facility is available from hostels to the classroom complex. Quality of food is okayish. Canteens are available, and the food served there is good and affordable. Some hostels are equipped with gym instruments. Medical facilities are available in the nearby hospital.

Faculty: Teachers are highly qualified and very professional, but at the same time friendly and cooperative. The course curriculum is good, but most students do not opt to go for core industrial jobs, about 95 percent go for non-core jobs only, for which they need to prepare by themselves. Semester exams are moderately difficult, though some papers have high difficulty. The pass percentage varies from subject to subject. In some subjects, like advanced calculus, the pass percentage is higher, around 90 to 95 percent. In others, like PDS, it drops to around 70 percent.

Other: Based on my JoSAA rank, I think this course is most suitable for me. This course is less stressful compared to other courses. This gives ample time to learn coding and DSA stuff. Probably a bit more application of AI in the field and removing some obsolete chapters would make this more useful.

The largest IIT and the first IIT.

Placements: Around 1% of students go into the correct jobs. The packages are around 19 LPA, 5 LPA, and 9 LPA. Top opportunities are available in pharmaceuticals. Around 1% work as pharmacists, chemists, or HODs. Students can also pursue higher education by completing their Master's. Students can even pursue a Ph.D. and become professors at renowned institutes with top-level salary packages.

Infrastructure: Asia's largest library is available here. Excellent food and sports facilities are at the next level. The ground is bigger than some colleges themselves. The campus has full Wi-Fi, so everywhere you get free Wi-Fi and enjoy high-speed Internet access. BC Roy Hospital is also in excellent working condition.

Faculty: Faculty members are highly qualified. The teaching is excellent. Sometimes, you may not understand what the teacher is even saying on the board. That level is incredible. The curriculum is relevant. It doesn't make students industry-ready, but it makes them CEOs and founders for those industries. The difficulty level is average.

Other: The curriculum is easy. There are more placement opportunities. Asia's largest Techno-Management fest, Kshitij, and Spring Fest are also organized.

Matters about your dream college.

Placements: Top roles offered are mainly Software Development Engineer (SDE) and Quant roles. In my course, most students generally opt for core placements. But some students are also interested in coding, data science, product management, and consulting roles. The average package of our department is around 22 LPA.

Infrastructure: Lab facilities are medium. New labs, such as electronics labs, are well equipped, but older labs like high-voltage labs are not properly equipped with sufficient devices such as rheostats. The hostel food is average, and the cleanliness is okay.

Faculty: This time, there have been changes in the curriculum, especially for second-year students. The evaluation system now follows a 30-30-40 weightage pattern. Where 30 marks are for mid-semester exams. 30 marks are for end-semester exams. 40 marks for teacher assessments. These 40 marks have made things difficult for students because professors put a lot of pressure on them through frequent surprise tests, assignments, and class tests.

Review of IIT Kharagpur - Indian Institute of Technology.

Placements: Placement statistics are excellent for circuital branches. The highest package goes around 1.2 crores per annum for quant companies. The median package lies around 20–22 LPA. Software and core companies are the top recruiting companies here. Most of them are either software, analytics, or consulting companies.

Infrastructure: In Rajendra Prasad Hall of Residence, the overall infrastructure is not up to the mark. In many halls, renovation work is being undertaken, and the rooms are quite sleek and modern. Wi-Fi connectivity in the rooms is very good. Labs contain adequate equipment. Classrooms are modern and equipped with projectors.

Faculty: Teachers are highly qualified in their respective subject areas. However, students may not find their teaching methods very appealing because of what they are used to in coaching centres. Faculty is knowledgeable. The examination schedule can prove to be quite hectic as well.

Other: I chose Electrical Engineering because it is a circuit-based branch. You are open to various company interviews. This is the best I could get for my rank. Events are going on round the clock. Fests are really good and organized on a large scale. Scholarships are awarded to students from lower-income families.

Placements: Up to 90% of students get placed in our course. The average package is around 12-15 LPA. The highest package depends on the performance of students in placements and the companies offering the roles. Structural and transportation engineering have many benefits, and more students get placed in our department. Overall, the placements are good.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure of IIT Kharagpur is just awesome. Even though it is the oldest IIT, it resembles the best among all. Labs and everything are just perfect. There are no issues with Wi-Fi for students across the whole campus. The Wi-Fi strength is very good. The hostels are also good. The laboratories and auditoriums are also very good. The infrastructure of the classrooms is good.

Faculty: Faculty is very good and friendly. The way they teach is just too good. The exams are conducted very strictly with high security. Exams are also a little bit tough.

Other: Every event at IIT Kharagpur feels like a festival. Everything is perfect in IIT Kharagpur.

Good placements in 2026. Good infrastructure but okay faculty members.

Placements: 75% of students get placed in my course. The highest package is 50 LPA, the lowest is 7.5 LPA, and the average is around 18 LPA. The top recruiting companies are LAT Aerospace, ITC, HUL, Google, Microsoft, Bajaj, Suzuki, Schlumberger (SLB), and Jaguar. Only 10% of students get an internship this year in the first phase of the internship season of 2026-2027. The companies in which students get internships are ICICI Bank, Capital One, LAT Aerospace, Bajaj, Suzuki, and ITC.

Infrastructure: We have very good Wi-Fi, with Ethernet also available. Labs and classrooms are among the biggest, with air conditioning available. There are multiple rooms for studying as well. The library is probably the biggest in India. It has one of the largest collections of books that we can borrow. Even though we have a hospital on our campus. The medical facilities are really bad. The doctors in the hospital are not really that qualified. The mess is not very hygienic, and the food is below average in taste. The hostels are not good.

Faculty: Faculty members and teachers are really helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable. However, only one of four teachers is actually interested in teaching and knows how to teach. Some teachers are really bad. They use very strict marking schemes, which affect students' mental health. Thankfully, the number of such teachers is low. The course curriculum is relevant and makes students industry-ready, mainly in terms of internships. However, for off-campus placements and internships, we need much more knowledge. The semester exams in my college can be really difficult, and the difficulty level depends on the teacher.

Other: I chose mechanical engineering because it is the best option I got based on my rank in JEE Main. However, it is better to choose industrial engineering as a branch instead of mechanical because it is less demanding and semi-circuit-based. So, it offers better placement and internship opportunities.
