Jamia admission to all the BA (Hons) specialisations is based on a candidate's performance in the University-conducted entrance exam called Jamia Millia Islamia Entrance Exam. The JMI Entrance Exam is conducted annually in offline mode at seven examination centres, including Thiruvananthapuram, Delhi, Lucknow, Guwahati, Patna, Srinagar and Kolkata. The application window for Jamia Millia Islamia BA (Hons) admission generally opens in May every year. Jamia Millia Islamia is considered to be one of the top universities to pursue undergraduate, postgraduate, and advanced Diploma programmes, and students from all around the country and abroad aspire to be a part of this renowned university. Jamia conducts JMI Entrance Examfor admission to most of its undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Each year the bar is raised and the exam along with the competition only becomes tougher. To successfully clear the JMI Entrance Exam, candidates have to study hard, prepare well, know the exam pattern, marking scheme and the syllabusthoroughly. A candidate must put in plenty of time and dedication to ace the exam. A step-by-step preparation strategy for the exam is as follows:
- Know the JMI Entrance Exam syllabus thoroughly.
- Understand the JMI Entrance Exam pattern and marking scheme and prepare accordingly.
- Get all the study material for Jamia Millia Islamia Entrance Exams such as prep books and previous years' question papers to help better understand what to expect in the exam.
- Create a monthly timetable on how much material to cover daily.
- Solve question papers, sample papers and mock tests.
JMI selection criteria includes shortlisting of candidates on the basis of scores obtained in JMI exam. For some courses candidates are required to also appear for Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI). The cut off for each course is released after the selection procedure is over and candidates are called for counselling and document verification. Like all other exams, the minimum marks have been set for the candidates to qualify in the Jamia Millia Islamia entrance exam. As per the general guidelines released by the university, candidates obtaining less than 15% marks in the Objective Type/ Multiple Choice questions will not be shortlisted for interview/admission. Similarly, candidates obtaining less than 30% marks in the descriptive part of the Entrance Test, wherever applicable, will not be shortlisted for interview/ admission. As the minimum qualifying marks are fixed, the candidates should prepare themselves in such a way that they can get more than the prescribed marks in the exam and get selected for the next level.
The eligibility criteria for each course is different. Candidates are advised to check the eligibility criteria before applying for the Jamia Millia Islamia Entrance Exam. For Undergraduate course, candidates must have passed Intermediate with at least 50 per cent marks from any board and for Masters course, graduate degree with at least 50 per cent marks from any recognised university is required.
