NGO Management is a course meant for candidates who wish to take up social work as their career or join a non-government organization (NGO). The course trains an aspirant for a career which includes working for upliftment of the under privileged and in areas like environment, health, education, social services and community development.

The course includes Sustainable Development, Strategic Management and Planning, Operational Planning, Communication, Leadership, Fundraising and Project Management. It focuses on the organization’s goals and objectives, their execution, supervision.

The main objective of NGO Management course is:

  • To provide managerial training and skills to NGO workers
  • To impart latest and most relevant skills set to a student for a career in this field

NGO Management is offered as BA, MA, MSc, MBA and Certificate courses. This programme is offered in regular as well as distance learning mode.

Admission process to the courses for NGO Management varies from course to course and institute to institute; but in most cases the candidates have to take an entrance test and/or personal interview/group discussion. In case of distance learning mode, admission is done on the basis of merit only.

NGO Management Eligibility Criteria

The minimum eligibility criteria for NGO Management varies are different levels.

  • For an undergraduate or certificate course in NGO Management, the candidate must have completed Class12 with a minimum of 50% aggregate in any stream from a recognized board or university
  • For a post graduate course, the candidate must have a graduation degree, preferably in social work or and related subjects
  • For MBA in NGO Management, the candidate must fulfill the basic criteria of MBA, i.e. 50% aggregate in graduation from a recognized university
  • Prior work/field experience in social work is desirable
