NGO Management is a course meant for candidates who wish to take up social work as their career or join a non-government organization (NGO). The course trains an aspirant for a career that includes working for the upliftment of the underprivileged, and in areas like environment, health, education, social services, and community development. The course includes Sustainable Development, Strategic Management, and Planning, Operational Planning, Communication, Leadership, Fundraising, and Project Management. It focuses on the organization’s goals and objectives, their execution, and supervision.
The main objective of the NGO Management course is:
- To provide managerial training and skills to NGO workers
- To impart the latest and most relevant skill set to a student for a career in this field
NGO Management is offered as BA, MA, MSc, MBA, and Certificate courses. This programme is offered in regular as well as distance learning modes.
The admission process to the courses for NGO Management varies from course to course and institute to institute, but in most cases, the candidates have to take an entrance test and/or personal interview/group discussion. In the case of distance learning mode, admission is done on the basis of merit only.

The minimum eligibility criteria for NGO Management varies are different levels.
- For an undergraduate or certificate course in NGO Management, the candidate must have completed Class 12 with a minimum of 50% aggregate in any stream from a recognised board or university.
- For a postgraduate course, the candidate must have a graduation degree, preferably in social work or and related subjects.
- For MBA in NGO Management, the candidate must fulfill the basic criteria of the MBA, i.e. 50% aggregate in graduation from a recognized university.
- Prior work/field experience in social work is desirable.
