If it is considered based on the number of students placed, then it was satisfactory, but the quality of placement, i.e. the job profile was average.

Old college yet excels at modern engineering.
Placements: Around 80 percent of students got placed from our course. Among them, 15-20 students got more than 20 LPA, and around 50 students got 7 LPA-18 LPA, and the rest got less than 7 LPA. The highest package is 58 LPA, the lowest is 4 LPA, and the average is 8 LPA. The recruiting companies are Microsoft, Google, Texas, Wells Fargo, Synopsis, etc. 40 percent of students got on-campus internships, and overall, 80 percent of students got an internship.
Infrastructure: Overall, the department is okay, but it needs more space. Labs and libraries are good. Wi-Fi is also available. Hostel infrastructure is bad, and the mess is also not good since this college is very old, the building and toilets have been used for many years without renovation, so it's a bit disappointing, but now they are constructing a new 10-storey 1000-seater boys hostel with a modern look. I hope they increase the quality of the food.
Faculty: Academically, teachers are very good and friendly. They are very supportive of research and projects. I feel the curriculum is a bit outdated, it'll be better if they include more practical subjects and hopefully remove some useless subjects. Semester exams are relatively easy. Mostly, 95 percent of students pass with a CGPA above 7.
Other: I am very interested in the hardware side, so I chose this course. I feel like I made a very good decision after coming to this campus, as our branch is comparatively better than all branches except CSE. There is a very good culture among students on our campus. There is no ragging, and seniors are very friendly. Since our campus is in the city, everything is very easily available to us, so it's very easy to go outside the campus. The fests are a big thing here and are conducted with great planning, and are enjoyable.

Being an IIESTian – through my journey.
Placements: Placement statistics of my department (Mechanical Engineering) UG 2025 at IIEST Shibpur. The percentage of students placed is 88.7%. The highest package is 20.00 LPA, the lowest package is 3.3 LPA, and the average package is 7.19 LPA. Top recruiting companies are TCS, PWC, Tata Hitachi, Linde, and Aditya Birla Group. The top roles offered are in the automotive, manufacturing, and consultancy sectors.
Infrastructure: In my department, there is no Wi-Fi in classrooms. However, it is available in the library. As IIEST Shibpur is the second oldest engineering college in India, the infrastructure is old but good. Classrooms are very clean and neat, with a good number of fans and lights available. To be frank, the quality of food and water in the hostel is poor. Medical facilities are limited to minor issues, but a health card is provided. All sports and games facilities are available with a good number of opportunities.
Faculty: I strongly say that teachers here are really helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable. The teaching quality is the best. The course curriculum is relevant and makes students industry-ready. The difficulty of semester exams is average to difficult, and the pass percentage is around 90–93%.
Other: If you are interested in mechanical research studies, then this is the best option for you because IIEST Shibpur is excellent for research and has a strong alumni network. The old infrastructure needs to be replaced with new infrastructure. Regarding events and fests, many events and competitions take place, attracting a huge crowd. I do not know about scholarships as my annual income is high. Many extracurricular activities are also available, such as NCC.

Really good college, like if you make good friends who hustle and are fun at the same time.
Placements: Almost 90% of the students got placed in the department of mining engineering. The top recruiting company is Coal India. The highest package is given by Coal India of 40 LPA, and the lowest is 2 LPA. The roles offered are mining engineer, mine planning engineer, drill and blasting engineer, mine surveyor, etc. Almost 30% of the students got internship, in which some got individual internship.
Infrastructure: The hostels are pretty old and dirty, but are being maintained every year. All the hostels have Wi-Fi with a speed of up to 300 Mbps, and in the curfew hours, like around 10 pm, the speed goes to 30 to 40 Mbps. The campus is clean, but roads are very poorly maintained however, work is underway and will probably be finished in 5 to 6 months. The library is one of the best places with AC and sofas for reading journals and computer desks for studying, and a computer center which will open soon for all the students. Canteens are good.
Faculty: All teachers are very helpful and well qualified, which will help with their greater insight for a better future in the particular branch. The teaching quality is very good with smart boards and comfortable seats. The curriculum has recently been changed and has become more relevant for the upcoming students. Exams are very decent, not too hard, not too simple, but you can get help from the professor if you are active in class. The passing marks are 40% and above. All this pretty much makes us ready for the industries.
Other: This course is given by the Jossa counselling. I did not think it is that special, but after I joined the college, I realized that this is a pretty good course if you are interested in it. Almost the course is very good, but they should have kept the branch change option in the first and second year on the basis of marks. Events and fest are very healthy and very energetic, which do not interrupt the studies and help us to make very good memories. Campus crowd is very small, and scholarships are being given to many students.

College gives you all the things regarding academic as well as college life.
Placements: Approximately 70% of students of the department of civil engineering got placed in prestigious firms as PWC, some PSUs like BHEL, BPCL, and GAIL. The highest package is about 22 LPA, lowest is 6 LPA, and average is 9 LPA - 10 LPA. Top recruiters are PWC, JSW, BPCL, TCS, and many more. About 90% of students got internships, whether paid or non-paid.
Infrastructure: Facilities and infrastructure are good in the department. We have seminar hall, Wi-Fi, labs, and well-equipped classroom. There is also a library. Quality of food offered in hostel is much good. Canteen is available at affordable cost. Medical facilities are also provided by the institute. Sports club and gymnasium are also well-equipped.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful and highly qualified from top institutes in the country. Teaching style is flexible. Mode of teaching is English. Course material is relevant and makes the students industry-ready. Semester exams are there. Two exams are there per semester equipped with several class tests and assignments. Pass percentage is good.
Other: Civil engineering is one of the oldest courses offered by the institute with good placement records. Highly qualified teachers are there to guide. Several events and seminars are organised by the department. Department fest is also there. Scholarships are also provided for meritorious students.

My honest review about my college.
Placements: Campus placements are excellent 100% placements. Summer placements 2019-20 1.31 LPA (2 months) were offered. In final placements 2018-20 18.76 LPA were offered. Aspirants can go through the placement report of the college for further information. Every student has to go through a summer internship program for 2 months (April-May). The college offers on-campus internship opportunities and many renowned companies visit the campus.
Infrastructure: So far we have not come to the electives stage that will be given to me in the second year but in the first year, I have to study all three subjects that are physical, organic, and inorganic chemistry. I will opt for physical chemistry as my elective in 2nd year. I am staying in PG and I pay Rs. 6000 per month and the facilities are not very much good but they are just fine to stay. Food is not quality food but it does the job and is better than eating fast food.
Faculty: Faculty is just more than my expectation. I am being taught by scientists and researchers some of them have done their research and some have written books on NCERT and other boards. Most of the faculty here have either done their Ph.D. or postdocs from abroad. They have worked with many Nobel Prize winners in chemistry. We have only 12 classes and 3 labs per week and are awarded Saturday off along with Sunday. So we had enough time to have fun and spend time on other activities.

My honest review of my college.
Placements: It is awesome. Some of the best companies of international standards visited our campus for campus placements and offered a very attractive compensation package. Infosys, Wipro, Intel, L&T, IBM, Tech Mahindra, Iflex Solutions, CMC Ltd., HP, Dell, ONGC, IOCL, etc., are some of the reputed Indian companies to mention and there are many more remain to be mentioned.
Infrastructure: There is no hostel facility in the college as the college is located at a prime location of Jabalpur where a lot of coaching classes. Hotels and PGs are available at a very economical rate which we will not find anywhere else. It is small. The hostel facility is the most attractive thing in this institution and I can definitely suggest one who needs the hostel facility to choose this college.
Faculty: The course is designed based on CSIR, NET, and JRF (for PhD and UPSC CGE through which we can get a job in GSI or CGWB. Faculty members are highly qualified. They are PhD holders from prestigious foreign universities. Teacher interaction is very good in the classroom and they are helpful outside the classroom also. Exams are semester and mid-semester basis. Weekly class tests are also conducted for the assessment of the internal assessment. The course curriculum is perfect for today's needs, and it includes both theoretical as well as practical knowledge. As geology is a field science, it includes field trips to different parts of India. The course is designed keeping in mind the demand of industries as well as to fulfill the knowledge of research-oriented students.
