The cutoff trend for B.Tech at IIT Madras - Indian Institute of Technology has been increasing in the recent years. In 2021, the closing rank for B.Tech. under general category for all India quota was 3259. In 2022, it increased to 3881. Likewise, the cut off ranks have changed from 1584 to 1666 for OBC, 961 to 1248 for SC, 558 to 500 for ST, 610 to 862 for EWS, 86 to 165 for PWD. No—if you scored 44 when the cutoff is 45 in JEE Main, you would not qualify for JEE Advanced. Without qualifying JEE Advanced, admission to Indian Institute of Technology Madras is not possible, since IITs admit students only through that route.

With a 98.5 percentile in JEE Main, you have a strong chance of getting into good NITs, but admission to National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli depends on your category, home state quota, branch preference, and yearly cutoff trends. For highly competitive branches like CSE at NIT Trichy
