Integrated B.Tech. + M.Tech. in Material Sciences and Engineering - Batch of 2028

Fully satisfied with what it provides, good infrastructure and facilites.
Placements: 13 out of 15 (87%) students were placed from the batch 2024-2025 in our course where the average package was 18 LPA-19 LPA given that not a lot of them were for core (in material science) positions because core companies like Applied Materials Inc. and Loham are offering upto 30 LPA offers. The highest package was 46 LPA in Meesho for the SDE role and the lowest was around 12 LPA. Some of the companies that came were Walmart, Citi Bank, Jarvis (business analyst role), Meesho, and Loham. 2 students got internships out of 15 and off-campus because companies came for circuital branches.
Infrastructure: Our material science department has complete high-speed Wi-Fi connectivity all over the same in the lecture halls. Department has AC-furnished rooms but not lecture halls as of now. Also, material science department has some world-class quality instruments for research so research-oriented students can surely come. My hostel (Satish Dhawan) reading rooms are equipped with AC and good food quality in a mess with both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food options. Canteens are open from 3:00 PM up to 4:30 AM. 3 large common rooms with TV, chess, and seating are available. Every room has Wi-Fi and ethernet.
Faculty: Teachers are highly qualified, and many research papers published, M.Sc. PhDs from foreign universities medallists. Teaching quality is exactly like how science must be taught with examples with creativity, and very interactive in the class with all students. Course curriculum is also industry-relevant and keeps on adapting every year. Exams are as difficult as expected and sometimes stand out with questions such as trying to make a question utilizing all the knowledge learned through the course applied to a real-world problem, but the grading is relatively depend on the people around you.
Other: Clubs are good like every society you name it, astronomy club, business club, robotics club, COPS (Club of Programs), SNTC (science and technology council), quant club, football, and student alumni interaction cell. The only IIT in India that recorded a positive growth in placements such as good training and placement cell which provide classes for hard DSA topics and guidance. Fee remission is there if family income is below 5 LPA and many scholarships keep coming throughout the year. Spardha India's biggest sports fest and Kashiyatra and Technex, FMC Week are conducted.

Admin here is so friendly with students and never makes any judgment calls.
Placements: College provides PBL (project-based learning) activities in groups, which are innovative but not very useful. Internships are not fully provided. If students want an internship, they have to find it themselves, but if they are skilled enough, the college can help them out. The stipend for internships ranges from Rs. 6,000 - Rs. 15,000. The role of the internship depends on your branch, skill, and experience in that particular field.
Infrastructure: Annual fest always creates hype. It is one fest that creates hype not just in North Campus but all across Delhi and NCR. The campus has a vibrant and decorated garden at the front. On the left of it is our college's refreshment center. Exactly opposite our gate is St. Stephens College. Vishwavidyalaya Metro Station is just a mile away.
Faculty: Faculty members are open-minded and friendly, but once students upset them, our internals are at risk. They will take revenge, taunt them, and spread negative things about them to both students and staff. Exams are mediocre, but students have to study hard. Some subjects are very tough.

IIT bhu- The dream of many.
Placements: The percentage of students placed in our batch is around 90 percent, and most of the students get placed in high-profile companies with recruiters coming from companies including Apple, Google, Microsoft, etc. There is also a special start-up incubator, Training and Placement Cell, etc., which contacts alumni for strong placement rates.
Infrastructure: The hostel accommodation is provided by the institution only, as every student is accommodated in the hostels, and there is no hassle. The facilities in our class include AC, a strong Wi-Fi connection, and the library also contains a lot of books and is equipped with AC. The classes have projectors.
Faculty: The faculty is very helpful and is very educated, as they completed their Ph.D. from reputed institutes and have various awards and honors under their names. The faculty helps us in every possible way and makes our concepts crystal clear. The semester exams are also not difficult and are very easy to pass.
Other: I have chosen this course because I have an interest in pursuing Materials Science and would like to explore more about the aspects. The events and fests are conducted every month so that students feel less academic stress. There are also many scholarships announced according to merit.

IIT BHU—a dream college.
Placements: The placement rate at IIT BHU is great. Too many recruiting companies, such as Apple, Google, Microsoft, and Infosys, come for internships and placements. The highest package offered was ₹1.3 crore, while the average package was ₹31 crore per year. The percentage of student places was 85–90%.
Infrastructure: The facilities and infrastructure provided by our institute are of top-notch quality. The whole campus is surrounded by greenery everywhere. We also have a strong Wi-Fi connection provided here. The labs and the classrooms are also well-equipped with AC. The classrooms have a seating capacity of 100–150 students. The quality of the mess and canteen is also good. Medical facilities are also provided.
Faculty: The teachers at IIT BHU are well-qualified and highly knowledgeable, as each and every teacher teaching here studied at prestigious institutions across the country. They explain our doubts pretty well and make our concepts crystal clear. The course curriculum is relevant. The semester exams are a little difficult as students are competitive. The pass percentage on our campus is about 90%.
Other: I have chosen this course as I love to explore more about materials and their applications in day-to-day life. Our college has many events and festivals, such as Kashiyatra, Technex, FMC Weekend, etc.

The college were my destiny lies.
Placements: This year's placement season has been tough. Several of my seniors are still awaiting placement. The highest package this year was 1.68 crore, and a total of 749 students were placed in our college. NK Securities was the top recruiting company. The internship season this year was exceedingly challenging, leading to many students with a CPI of 9+ not securing an internship.
Infrastructure: As it is an old IIT, previously known as IT-BHU, the infrastructure is quite old, and the food here in Banaras is not that great, but it serves its purpose for survival. Overall, the college is good. The labs are well-equipped, although some of the equipment is old; however, certain labs have newer, high-tech machines.
Faculty: Professors are so helpful that they encourage us to focus more on core subjects. Their guidance pushes us towards deeper, research and development-based studies. Some semesters are challenging, while others are easier.
Other: I chose this course because it was only available in a Tier 2 college, and I wanted more exposure, so I selected this college. The placement opportunities here are excellent. All the events in IITs are very happening, especially the FMC weekend held in IIT BHU Varanasi. It is incredibly helpful as it encourages newcomers in the field of digital arts, such as cinematography and photography.

Great campus life and a good place to study.
Placements: 100% students were placed in my course. The highest package was 32 Lacs with an average of 19.4 Lacs. All the packages were in non core sector. Top roles offered were in SDE. Many students in materials Science and technology have fetched an internship off campus as well as on campus.
Infrastructure: In the department of materials Science and technology, amazing facilities are available. We GAT good Wi-Fi, air conditioned classrooms, water cooler system in our department. We also have nicely built labs with all the required equipments. Hostel facilities are pretty average. Since it's a 100 years old campus. But the hostel life is amazing. Mess food is obviously like everywhere else. We have outstanding sports facilities. We also get free medical help.
Faculty: The teachers here are very helpful and highly qualified sharing their amazing knowledge with us. The course curriculum is relevant. We have manufacturing practices and various other required courses which makes us industry ready. The semester exams are average, not very difficult and at the same time not very easy.
Other: We have an amazing campus life here. The fests held here are kashiyatra, technex, fmc weekend and many more.

Review of IIT BHU, Varanasi - Indian Institute of Technology.
Placements: Placements are good. Most of our seniors got good placements. The average salary package offered was 30 LPA. Branch-wise placements are very good. The highest salary package offered was 1 crore per annum. The maximum salary package offered was 1.2 crores per annum.
Infrastructure: In our college, Arayabhatta Hostel is big and all facilities are available. Our campus is huge. Mess is available. There are 2 canteens that remain open till 4:00 AM. It has stationery shops. Badminton court is available. We have a common hall. Classrooms are spacious. There is a gym facility on our campus.
Faculty: The government spent more money on IIT than other government colleges. Faculty members are good and they will help us in all situations. They tell the students to come when they have free time to ask for doubts. There are different fields so the students are spread among all kinds of fields according to their interests. All courses are good at this college. Semester exams are tough. You have to study well because the questions are concept based.
Other: The campus is crowded and nearby to the Ghats of Banaras. The transportation facility is not good. Everything is available on our campus.

IIT BHU is a heaven in itself!
Placements: Placements in IIT BHU are phenomenal. Last year, the highest package was 2.05 crores and median package of Material Science branch was about 17-18LPA. This year however, due to global layoffs, less companies visited the campus but amidst this also the highest was 1.2 crores awarded to 4 students by Graviton. This year however, average and median packages have risen.
Infrastructure: The quality of hostel rooms is okay, but hostel culture and life are amazing. Freshers are given Aryabhatta hostel which is the largest hostel in the institute, with about 1000-1200 students living in it. Mess food however is very good. You get 4 types of rice, 3-4 types of sabzi and roti, sweet everyday. Compared to other IIT's, infrastructure wise, we are lacking a little bit since it has been converted to IIT in 2012 only. But compared to previous years, it has improved significantly. Like 30 crores, Student Activity Centre has been made, new hostels are being made etc. In coming years, it will improve the infrastructure manifold.
Faculty: Since our classes started late, our semester has been shrunk to 3 months only. Due to this, professors have been going very fast on completing the syllabus. Though professors are good but since they are going very fast, it is difficult to comprehend so much information. But still it feels very good to study among the top brains of the country. Curriculum is very diverse and a lot of subjects are taught from different fields like Engineering Drawing, Manufacturing Practices, Physics etc. The semester exams were not very tough but neither easy. If you have studied daily for even 1-2 hrs, it would be a piece of cake for you. But majority of students (Including me) study on the night before exams, so for them it is a bit difficult.
Other: There are many fests that keep happening in our college like E-Summit (Entrepreneurship Summit), Kashi-Yatra (Cultural Fest), Technex (Technical Fest), and Spardha (Sports Fest). Apart from this, there are very activities happening in college like festival celebrations, freshers' party, guest lectures etc. In short, IIT BHU is a world in itself, just come here and become a part of this 100+ year-old legacy.
