IIT BHU MTech Eligibility & Highlights 2026
Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Varanasi offers a two-year MTech programme spread across four semesters. BTech graduates, fulfilling the eligibility criteria can apply for any of the various MTech specialisations. The Institute offers MTech in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Biochemical Engineering, Decision Sciences & Engineering, etc. IIT Varanasi MTech admission is through the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). Students shortlisted based on scores in the exam. Then, they must go through COAP counselling for final seat allotment. IIT Varanasi MTech admission is provided based on GATE scores.

Candidates who have BE/BTech/MSc or equivalent with (a) CGPA 6.00 on a 10-point scale or 60% marks in aggregate for General/OBC (Non Creamy Layer)/EWS. Category with valid GATE score BTech from IITs with CGPA of 8.00 without GATE are also eligible for admission. AMIE / Grad. IETE are eligible for the M.Tech programme at IIT BHU.
According to the IIT BHU cutoff 2023, the closing ranks were 3358 and 3534, for the General AI category as per the first and last rounds. BTech in Electrical Engineering admission at IIT BHU is done through the JEE Advanced rank, followed by the JoSSA counselling process. Therefore, going by the 2023 cutoff pattern, IIT BHU BTech cutoff 2024, which is to be expected, could be in the range between 3000 and 3500.

GATE Qualifying Cutoff: It is minimum mark a candidate must score so that he or she is eligible for admission. But this does not mean that a candidate is selected for admission.
