IIT Jammu MTech Eligibility & Highlights 2025
IIT Jammu MTech course is offered across different specialisations. Some of the offered course specialisations are Data Science, VLSI Design, etc. Admission to this course is based on a GATE score followed by COAP counselling. Eligible students seeking admission must qualify for the entrance exam for admission to IIT Jammu. Candidates who wish to apply to MTech at IIT Jammu must have a valid GATE score. The candidates are screened based on their CGPI in BE/BTech and GATE scores.
The shortlisted ones are further called for a written test and interview.

Yes, while applying for the MTech programme at IIT Jammu, a student has to first register compulsorily on COAP portal. It is also mandatory for all candidates with valid GATE score to register at COAP (Common Offer Acceptance Portal) and use the COAP registration number while filling the application form of IIT Jammu. The application fee for M.Tech registration at IIT Jammu portal is INR 200 for SC/ ST/ PwD category candidates and INR 300 for other category candidates.
The minimum eligibility required is a bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science (4-year course) or a master's degree in Science with marks not below the specified minimum. Relaxation of 5% aggregate or 0.5 CPI is offered to SC/ST/PwD category candidates on the minimum eligibility score.

There are multiple steps included in the IIT Jammu admissions, such as GATE registration, appearing for the exam, release of cutoff, and COAP counselling. The steps to be followed for IIT Jammu MTech course admissions are:
STEP 1: IIT Jammu MTech Application Process 2025
Candidates willing to apply to IIT Jammu for MTech are required to register at the Common Offer Acceptance Portal (https://coap.iitb.ac.in) and a COAP registration number is mandatory for filling out the application form on the IIT Jammu application portal. Admission offers are made via the COAP portal. Hence, the applicants are responsible for the information provided.

After registering on the COAP website, candidates must also apply on the IIT Jammu website https://eg.iitjammu.ac.in/pgapplication. The application fee per department (non-refundable) is INR 300 for General/ Gen-EWS/ OBC category candidates and INR 200 for SC/ ST/ PWD category candidates. For the self-sponsored category, however, the application fee (non-refundable) is INR 500.

STEP 2: Appear for Exam, Cutoff Release & Counselling
The applicants need to take the GATE exam and secure a good score. Shortlisted candidates need to take a written test and take part in the interview round. Candidates who meet the cutoff criteria need to participate in COAP Counselling for seat allotment.
STEP 3: Admission Confirmation

Yes, GATE 2024 exam dates have been announced. IISc Bangalore will conduct the GATE 2024 exam on February 3, 4, 10, and 11. The GATE 2024 application form will release on Aug 24 on the official website at gate.iisc.ac.in. The organising institute for GATE 2024 is IISc Bangalore. The exam will be conducted online as a computer-based test for 29 papers. Students will be required to solve 65 questions in 180 minutes (3 hours). The admission to MTech at IIT Jammu is entrance-based. Candidates are required to appear for GATE exam and secure a good score. A cutoff list is then released to declare the minimum score required for selection. Candidates who meet the cutoff score become eligible for participation in COAP counselling. During counselling, the seat allotment process is carried out. The candidates who get a seat in IIT Jammu MTech courses shall report at the institute to submit important documents and pay the admission fee amount.
IISc Bangalore (result announcing body of GATE) will announce the GATE 2024 result on March 25. To check the result, students will need to enter their GATE enrollment ID, registered email ID, and date of birth. In 2024, IISc Bangalore will conduct the GATE exam. The GATE MTech entrance exam 2026 will be held on different dates in two shifts- forenoon and afternoon. Registrations for GATE 2026 started on August 28.
IIT Jammu has released the placement report for M.Tech in Tunnel Engineering for the year 2023. As per the placement statistics 2023, the highest package offered was INR 5 LPA. As of now, no previous year placement data has been found for Tunnel Engineering. Tunnel Engineering course is part of M.Tech Civil Engineering. However, no placement data for the previous last two years for Tunnel Engineering has been found on the official website.
