About Maitreyi, from Maitreyi .
Placements: Our course generally doesn't have students sitting for placements because it doesn't offer job-friendly skills. If someone is willing to enhance their skills, they can definitely go for it. But, most companies only want commerce and math students in their interviews.
Infrastructure: Although, I am not in the hostel.
Faculty: Faculty is nice and helpful if they are willing to help. Otherwise, professors, especially in our department, can be moody at times. But, they are quite knowledgeable and have great research skills, which help us apply classroom knowledge to real-life scenarios.
Other: Overall, the college is nice. There are several departments. Some are good, while others are not, but the crowd is quite nice and disciplined. The infrastructure and the garden add to the beauty of everything around, and the annual fests and other gatherings of Maitreyi are quite popular in the DU circle. Other than this, the Centre for Research is very active, and the Department of Sociology is an active member, giving their students exposure to research. I can tell you about the course. The course is interesting, but at times quite lengthy, a little confusing, and somewhat outdated. In research, we are taught techniques that are very old and not in use nowadays.

Review of Maitreyi College.
Placements: I don't want any placement from my college as I will be preparing for civil services after my graduation. The highest package offered in our college is 21 Lacs per annum. The average package is 5.3 Lacs per annum. The placement percentage is around 40%, which is a decent percentage.
Infrastructure: I'm impressed by the infrastructure of the college; it's quite good though it's a government college. The building is not too old, but it is good-looking too. The classrooms, labs, and library are well-maintained here. Hostel facilities are also provided by the college. Good quality of hostel rooms with all facilities required: table, B.Ed almirah, AC, Wi-Fi, and many more.
Faculty: There are a lot of faculty members in our college, and everyone is too nice to be hated or disliked. This is because the level of comfort and joy while they teach is absolutely wow. In a year, there are two exams: mid-semester and final semester. The course curriculum is quite relevant.
Other: I opted for this course because I love to do social work, and from my class 11, my interest developed in this course. Events and fests are organized occasionally, and the connectivity of the college to the nearest metro is approximately 2 km.

Good college, great faculty, and amazing college life.
Placements: Placement cell was quite active, but I don't have detailed knowledge of their activities and events organized by them since I wasn't a part of the cell. We had summer internship projects, and students came up with very good and interesting project ideas which were quite interesting to watch.
Infrastructure: The canteen was good. During summers, some of my fondest memories were of going to the Mother Dairy booth outside the canteen and enjoying ice cream with my friends. The open audit was also a good place to relax if classes got over early. The library provides a good atmosphere for quiet study and work.
Faculty: I belonged to the Department of Sociology, and although I belonged to the Covid batch and was worried about my CGPA and overall learning, I'm very happy and proud to say that my teachers were a constant guiding presence. I am forever grateful for their constant efforts and help in guiding and refining my knowledge of the subject.
Other: I had a very good college life at Maitreyi - speaking in terms of both academics as well as extracurricular activities. I myself was a part of the English Literary and Debating Society Trenchant, and I had wonderful seniors who guided me as well as intelligent and lovely juniors who were an absolute pleasure to be with. I was able to connect with various people from different courses in Trenchant and overall had a very enriching and wholesome experience.

Q:   Can students with a minimum cutoff for B Sc. get a seat at Maitreyi College?
    A:

Hello Nishar Ahmed, let me first explain the concept of cutoff and then answer your query for easy understanding of the whole issue. Because of its standing amongst the students Maitreyi college gets a large number of students who are seeking admission. The admissions are actually controlled by Delhi University through its portal designed specifically for admissions to different colleges which are affiliated to it. In such a scenario if a student with very less percentile applies to Maitri then that student is bound to get disappointed when he will not get this college of a choice. To avoid this from happening and also to avoid having false hopes of admission Maitreyi college announces cutoffs on its website for every round of admission. This actually is for the information of students so that those who have scored less than the cut of need not attempt admission because their chances of getting admission are next to nil. This also helps students in identifying an alternate college and giving that as the first choice. This definitely does not mean that anyone having the percentile of cutoff is going to get admission but it's only an indicator that there is some possibility or probability of getting admission.

Now to answer your query. For student with minimum cut off for BSc, which has been declared by the college, normally are not likely to get admission because many more students who have more percentile, are going to compete for the limited seats available in this college.

    Best wishes to you.

    AskShikshaGPT on App
Q:   Can I get direct admission for the BCom programme at Maitreyi College?
    A:

No, students cannot get direct admission to the BCom programme available at Maitreyi College. Admission is based on merit through CUET. For registration, candidates have to sign up for the accepted entrance exam and appear for it, followed by the CSAS counselling process. All this assures that the selection of the students will be fair and transparent, which results from the performance in the entrance test conducted by the NTA. There is no direct entry in the BCom course provided by Maitreyi College. Candidates interested in this course are allowed for admission only through the registration and application process via CUET.
