Review of NIT Calicut College.
Placements: Every year, more than 75 percent of students find their way into management companies, typically with packages over 8 LPA. A couple of our seniors recently landed some great offers, one hitting 36 LPA. Another senior got a package of 22 LPA in mechanical engineering, while others got 16 LPA and 12 LPA in mechanical and EEE courses, respectively. These were the packages from folks I know.
Infrastructure: When we talk about the college's infrastructure, it covers all the basics clean water supply, spacious science labs, an auditorium for cultural events, and a playground for sports. There was a well-stocked library and tidy classrooms. Students could also benefit from transportation and on-campus housing if they did not have their own rides. The mess was kept clean, and while the food was decent, I think adding a few more choices that students like would be a real bonus.
Faculty: The faculty and staff really did a good job here. First-year classes felt quite a bit like high school, which honestly made the transition easier. The yearly tests were not too complicated. The college did a great job recognizing academic achievements, going out of its way to celebrate the top performers.

About good campus life and hostel facilities.
Placements: Around 70% of students are placed. The highest package is around 18 LPA. The lowest package offered is around 4 LPA. Out of all the companies, around 40% of students are in core companies. Rest of the companies are sales and marketing related. Usually, 3rd year students get internship offers, and 4th year students get placements. Internship offer percentage is less, around 20%.
Infrastructure: Hostels are good with changing room allotments by year. In the first year, rooms are shared by 3 students (earlier 4). Second and third years stay in the Mega hostel with 2 students per room. In the final year, students can choose the campus hostels or the Mega hostel, with a single room provided. Wi-Fi or LAN is provided to all the hostels. Mess food is better than that in many colleges, with multiple mess options available. There is a health center outside the main campus.
Faculty: Semester exams are moderately tough, and most of the grading system is relatively. Everyone has to get a minimum of 40% marks in order to pass. All teachers here are highly qualified. Most professors maintain good teaching quality, though a few lack in this aspect. The old curriculum was followed till 2024. But I think it is completely restructured now for 2024 admissions onwards, and may make the students industry-ready.
Other: I chose mechanical engineering as I was interested in cars. Even though its not much popular nowadays, it's still one of the core branches and its value will remain as it is for the rest of the time. During my study, the curriculum was not industry-ready. Many lack the awareness of the skills that are needed in the companies. But a lot of changes have been made in the curriculum for the upcoming batches, and I believe this will be beneficial for them. Ragam and Tathva are the 2 fests conducted annually.

It gave me an exceptionally beautiful experience.
Placements: Around 80% of the people got placed from my course. The highest package was 34 LPA, the lowest was 5 LPA, and the average was 8.5 LPA. Top recruiting companies were Oracle and Caterpillar. Very few, around 30% got the internship in companies like Oracle, TVS, Bajaj, etc. Top roles offered were like application developer, associate engineer, etc.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure was excellent, I would say. The infrastructure of the hostels, etc., from outside would be conventional, but the facilities are top-notch. The Wi-Fi is provided, power laundry is available, and the issues, if any, raised are also taken care of by the management with utmost care.
Faculty: The teachers are well-qualified and knowledgeable in their fields and put their maximum efforts to deliver high-quality teaching to the students. The course is relevant to the curriculum, and it does make students ready for the future industry they will be going to work in. The semester exams are moderate to hard level, and they are designed to test our skills. The pass percentage varies from faculty to faculty, but I would say 35-40 percent.

It has a good college life, unbelievable fests, good faculty, and nice placements.
Placements: More than 75% of students get placed every year mostly in management companies with a basic package above 8 LPA. Our seniors got placed recently with the highest package one with 36 LPA. One of our seniors got placed with a package of 22 LPA in the mechanical course. Students got placed with a package of 16 LPA in the mechanical course. Students got placed with a package of 12 LPA in the EEE course, and these are packages of my known seniors.
Infrastructure: There are many grounds for sports like kabaddi, kho-kho, badminton, football and basketball. Grounds are different for every sport. Many canteens like the main canteen, micro canteen, and nano canteen are available in each radius of the college. There is a mini hospital-like emergency health center, which is free for emergency or health issues.
Faculty: Our college has experienced faculty members. They have good teaching skills, but the problem is some faculty members are very strict. Keeping strictness a part, the teaching is good, and strictness is not at all a matter for students who are study dedicated. During college hours, some are very kind in explaining doubts.
Other: I chose Mechanical Engineering because it has very good placements. The mechanical faculty members are the best here.

A college with good campus life and teachers.
Placements: The percentage of placements of our 5th year is about 94%, but for the 4th year, it is about 89%. The highest package is 36.5 LPA, which is a software job, whereas in core, the highest is 19.5 LPA, the lowest is 6 LPA, and the average is about 9 LPA. Recruiting companies include Ford, TVS, HPCL, BHEL, etc. A very few students got internships in the 3rd year, and the 89% also includes those who got internships. Roles like data analyst, management, designing, etc., are offered.
Infrastructure: Bus facilities from the hostel to campus are offered, and separate buildings for separate departments are also offered. The labs with high equipment are offered, and not only that, each year has different hostels with Wi-Fi facilities. The quality of the Wi-Fi and medical facilities is good, and there are various options in the sports field, but the food quality is average.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful and supportive regarding extracurricular activities. They also give us mental support. They have a very good knowledge of subjects, except for a few. The course curriculum is relevant, and it makes the student industry-ready. Along with it, an extra pressure is also added to the student due to conciseness in the subject and combining two subjects into one, which makes it more difficult to understand and more pressure-filled. The semester exams are not very difficult.

Good for your life, good facilities, and campus life.
Placements: The placements are good, for many years it has been consistent regarding placement percentage at an average of 90% considering all branches. The average salary package right now for mechanical engineers is 10 LPA and the median package is nearly 13 LPA.
Infrastructure: Classrooms are good, well-lighting. The hostels and their facilities are very good. You can choose whichever mess you want every month. College life would be great if you participated. You can enjoy your life on the campus as there are festival celebrations and fests also.
Faculty: The curriculum is structured very well enough for gaining knowledge and matches the level for students to be ready for placement. The assigned faculty for each course are well-knowledgeable and experienced. Exams are good and covers the outcome of the course.

Absolutely satisfied with my college except for food.
Placements: Overall, the college is awesome. The first thing is Kerala is very clean so the college campus is also nice except for some places like under trees because crows can do anything to you. Also, the placement of mechanical branch is awesome as I asked one of my mechanical senior, she got 18 LPA packages in only core branch in 3rd year. The attendance policy is a little tough like 80%. But overall college is awesome.
Infrastructure: Hostel facilities are good like washrooms are clean. There is a vending machine in girls hostel. But for North Indians mess food is a little disappointing but you will get used to it but its healthy and variety is also there. Sports places are not that much developed in the hostel but in college sports facilities are good. But they are working on it in the hostel.
Faculty: Faculty members are very nice. If anyone wants to study then the faculty and their way of teaching are very nice. Also, the course curriculum is very relevant, it will surely make you industry ready. The semester exams are not that tough but its tough but if you study then it will not be tough for you.
Other: The campus life is awesome. We celebrate every festival. There are back-to-back fests and functions. I assure you that in case of fests and functions, you will not be disappointed.

Highly recommended for academic excellence, placements, and vibrant campus life.
Placements: Around 80–85% of students got placed from our batch. Core companies, software firms, and analytics roles offered placements. Top recruiters included L&T, Tata Elxsi, Schlumberger, MathWorks, and ITC. Design engineer, analyst, and graduate engineer trainee are common roles.
Infrastructure: Mechanical Engineering department has good labs like CAD, Thermal, and Fluid Mechanics that make learning hands-on. Classrooms have Wi-Fi and projectors, and the library has all the books you need. Hostel rooms are decent and are getting renovated, with good Wi-Fi and solar heaters. The Mega Mess serves okay food, and we recently got a new AC gym. Sports are a big part of life here, there are great facilities for football, basketball, cricket, and more. Inter-department sports competitions are held every year and are super competitive and fun. Ongoing campus upgrades are making student life even better.
Faculty: Faculty members are highly knowledgeable and supportive, with many holding PhDs from top institutes. The curriculum is updated periodically with electives relevant to industry needs. Exams are moderately difficult. The pass percentage is high, but maintaining a high CGPA requires consistent effort.
Other: NIT Calicut offers strong academics, industry exposure, and an amazing campus life. Placement training and internships add great value to career readiness. Hostel life is memorable, and the cultural diversity is enriching. Clubs like IEEE, Unwired, AeroUnwired, and RIG teams offer amazing technical exposure. We also have non-technical clubs like the Audio Visual Club (AV), Club Mathematics, and various adventure clubs that enhance the overall student experience. A lot of construction and infrastructure upgrades are ongoing at NIT Calicut, both on campus and in the hostels, which is great for student life. A new centrally air-conditioned gymnasium is also recently inaugurated.

It depends on your category and the percentile you scored in 12th board. if you belong to the sc/st or ph category then you will get the seat in NIT CALICUT for sure but if you are in another category then you should apply in different college also.
