Review of NIT Calicut - National Institute of Technology.

Placements: In my batch engineering physics we have 35 students in our class. 35 students out of 16 will be placed and others are for higher studies. In engineering physics, the highest package is 12 LPA. The lowest salary is 5 LPA. The average salary is 8 LPA. Top companies are Amazon, Microsoft, Google, Wipro, and Infosys. 60% of students got internships in our college itself and some other students in Google, Wipro, and Infosys. Top role is research scientist.

Infrastructure: All facilities are available like Wi-Fi 24X7. Classrooms are okay. We will have 6 fans and 4 lights. It has good environment actually. Library is very big and we will have all books over there. Quality of food is fine as it is a hostel so we cannot expect much. Canteen is very good and we will get all things. About medical, we will be having a health center here available 24X7. Sports are good and they are encouraging students.

Faculty: Teachers are very helpful. They are encouraging students and of course they are qualified. Teaching is very good and in a supportive way. Semester exams are very difficult here. Pass percentage is around 70%. This course is very helpful for students who are interested in doing research.

Other: I chose this course for higher studies and in the research field. Improvements are needed in labs as some equipment is not working properly here so we are facing problems in the lab. College life is very good huge crowds at fests we will have Tathva and Ragam two of the biggest fests. Schlorships are available for students who are below 1 lakh.

Really good in infrastructure and placements.

Placements: Hi, I am Mahesh, currently studying at NIT Calicut in the Engineering Physics branch. Our class strength is 35. Out of 35 students, 13 are placed and the others are going for higher studies. The highest package last year was 42 LPA, the average package was 12 LPA, and the lowest was 5 LPA. But this year, packages have totally changed, the highest is 6 LPA. As this is an Engineering Physics course, we can't expect more companies to hire us because most of the students will go for a Master's. Some of them learn coding and secure jobs at companies like Amazon, Microsoft, Google, Wipro, and Infosys.

Infrastructure: The college has all the facilities like, Wi-Fi is available everywhere in the campus, we can use it by using institute email id. The labs are actually good, but in the first year, we had a mechanical workshop, honestly, there were no fans in it. Classrooms are very nice, we have 6 fans and 4 lights. The library is very big, we can find large number of books there. It is open till 12 O'Clock. Hostel is very good, in a room, there are 2 persons, and the food is average as it is a hostel. Health centre is open 24/7.

Faculty: The teachers are very helpful, qualified, and their teaching is very good. NIT Calicut's curriculum is totally different from other NITs as they aim student's to concentrate on their studies and make students think analytically. Semester exams are very difficult at this college. In my class, there are 6 students who failed in Quantum Physics. The pass percentage is 65%.

Other: In my batch, there are 35 students. I chose this course because I want to become a research scientist. The best ability to bridge the gap between fundamental physics and practical engineering applications. Improvements are needed in communication with faculty and equipment in the labs. There are lots of events going on in the college, and we have two the biggest fests, they are Ragam and Tathva. Scholarship will be provided to students those who belong to middle class families.

I am satisfied with our college.

Placements: The highest salary package offered in our course is 44 LPA. Almost 100% of students got placed in our course. Around 16 out of 35 students got jobs. Many students opted for further studies in various famous institutes. Many students got placed in the IT sector and research field.

Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is available on campus. The Wi-Fi speed is not good in boys' hostels. It is good in the girls' hostel. All labs and classrooms are good. The library is the best. The mess is not good. Sports and games are good.

Faculty: All teachers are qualified and helpful. They are Ph.D. holders. They are post-doctorates. The course curriculum for the B23 batch is changed now. Each branch has specialisation courses instead of common subjects for first-year students.

Absolutely satisfied by the infrastructure.

Placements: 100% placements are offered. The average package is INR 7 lacs. The lowest is INR 2 Lacs. The highest is INR 50 lakh. NDE research companies recruited from the college. Around 80 percent of students got internships. Many research opportunities were offered in the last years, and also our college NIRF rank got improved, and also in innovation, it came on the 8th rank.

Infrastructure: Everything is well established in our department; free Wi-Fi is available everywhere; but, in the hostel, food quality is not too good, but other facilities like the canteen are well maintained, and there are three canteens altogether. Cleanliness is the main issue in the hostel.

Faculty: All teachers are well qualified and graduated from prestigious colleges. The difficulty level is moderate to tough, and the percentage of students passing is around 80 percent. This is very good for the student's industry experience, as a lot of students get opportunities in various fields of their respective interests.

Other: I have a great interest in Physics and want to do research. More experiments should be done individually. Our fest is very good.

Placements: NIT Calicut provides good placement offers, according to your skills. NITC provides placement training too, so that you can improve your skills, and it is a great opportunity to gain some knowledge about computer-based programming techniques.

Infrastructure: NITC provides facilities to encourage your skills. It has a good library, with collection of rare books, and articles. NIT has a good sports background, and support you to improve your sport-based skills. The ambience is good to study.

Faculty: Professors are very interactive, and they allow us to share our ideas. They provide all the potential resources for our ideas. The exams are based on previous GATE examinations, and they provide standard question papers. The syllabus in NITC is very large, and comparatively it is hard to study.

Candidates must have passed 10+2 examination or equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory Subjects along with one of the Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/ Technical Vocational subjects in year 2023, 2024 conducted by respective Boards. Candidates should have secured the mentioned marks in the Class 12th examination or be in the top 20 percentile in Class 12th examination conducted by respective Boards. Candidates who are appearing in the Class 12th / equivalent examination in 2025 irrespective of their age, are also eligible. Note: List of qualifying examination(QE): i). The final examination of the 10+2 system, conducted by any recognized Central/ State Board, such as the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi; Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi; etc. ii). Intermediate or two-year Pre-University examination conducted by a recognized Board/ University. iii). Final examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy iv). Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling with a minimum of five subjects. v). Any Public School/ Board/ University examination in India or any foreign country is recognized as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). vi). Higher Secondary Certificate Vocational Examination. vii). A Diploma recognized by AICTE or a State board of technical education of at least 3 years duration. viii). Hey there, NIT, Calicut and NIT, Rourkela are the top two NITs among the top 5 NITs. So, there is no comparison among both the NITs. However, if you like physics then engineering physics branch is made for guys like you.
