The following is the syllabus important for ISI Admission Test for the BStat and BMath courses.
B Stat/ B Math Syllabus
Algebra: Sets, operations on sets. Rational and irrational numbers. Prime numbers, factorisation of integers and divisibility. Permutations and combinations, basic probability. Binomial Theorem. Logarithms. Theory of quadratic equations and expressions, Polynomials: Remainder Theorem, relations between roots and coefficients. Inequalities involving arithmetic, geometric & harmonic means. Arithmetic and geometric progressions. Complex numbers. Matrices and determinants.
Geometry: Plane geometry. Geometry of 2 dimensions with Cartesian and polar coordinates. Mensuration. Distance from a point to a line, Equation of a line, angle between two lines. Concept of a Locus. Area of a triangle. Equations of circle, ellipse , parabola, hyperbola and equations of their tangents and normals.
Trigonometry: Trigonometric and inverse trigonometric functions. Trigonometric identities, including addition formulae, solutions of trigonometric equations. Measures of angles. Properties of triangles. Heights and distances.
Calculus: Functions, one-one functions, onto functions. Tangents and normals. Maxima and minima. Sequences - bounded sequences, monotone sequences, limit of a sequence. Using calculus to sketch graphs of functions. Limits and continuity. Methods of integration, definite and indefinite integrals, and evaluation of area using integrals. Derivatives and methods of differentiation. Slope of a curve.
