GATE 2026 Exam Centre: IIT Guwahati has released GATE admit card 2026 for students appearing Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering. According to latest update, the name and test centre address for GATE centre code - 2082 have been revised, and a new hall ticket has been issued to candidates. The details regarding GATE exam centre 2026 have been updated on GATE admit card.

The Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati, has released the list of GATE 2026 exam centres on website. Candidates must know that centres are available for eight zones.While filling GATE application form 2026, candidates had to select upto three exam cites from same zone. There are no international test centres for foreign nationals. Applicants have to travel to India to appear for exam.  Students must reach at least 90 minutes before commencement of GATE exam

IIT Guwahati has released the updated GATE exam centres 2026 along with the information brochure. The GATE 2026 exam centres have eight zonal centres - IISc Bangalore, IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, and IIT Roorkee. The GATE zones are the authorities that perform any operations related to the GATE examination. These are managed by the GATE offices of IISc and IITs. The list of GATE zones is as follows-

Q:   How many exam centres can I choose while filling the GATE application form?

Besides that, it has to be noted that the three centres must be from the same zone. Thus, based on the availability, the centre will be allotted to the candidate for appearing the GATE 2026 exam.

GATE 2026 Exam Centres for Foreign Nationals

As per the GATE 2026 official notification, "There are no international centres for the GATE examination. Interested foreign or Indian nationals interested in appearing for the GATE examination will have to travel to India to appear for the test."

How to add GATE test centres during application form correction

Candidates can select their exam centres at the time of filling application form. Here's how you can do it -

  • Visit GATE's official website
  • Click on the account and click on exam city option
  • Add or change within the zone list
  • Make the payment and submit

Choice of examination city: The candidate can choose three cities from the list of examination cities in the above table. All three exam city choices must be from the same GATE 2026 zone. In addition, the authorities have the right to add a new city or remove or allot any city from the choices submitted by the aspirant.

Q:   Can I change my GATE exam city after the release of admit card?
A: 

No, changing exam center after release of GATE hall ticket is not allowed. Hall ticket of GATE 2026 will be released anytime soon. The GATE admit card release date has been postponed. 

Q:   Can I change my exam city after the submission of the GATE 2026 application form?
A: 

Yes, candidates have the facility to change their exam city/centre, but during the application form correction window. The form correction facility will be available once the registration process is over. However, applicant can only change their exam centre from the same zone only (as mentioned earlier while filling the application form). 

Q:   In how many cities will GATE 2026 exam be conducted?
A: 

The GATE 2026 exam will be conducted in more than 200 cities across eight zones in India. There are no international centres. Candidates who wish to appear for the exam must travel to India. The details regarding the test city and address will be mentioned in the GATE admit card.

In GATE, normalisation process generally makes a gap of 4 to 7 marks (approximately) between actual and normalised scores. However, if difficulty level of paper was high then the marks might increase. On other hand, for easier paper, marks may reduce offering fairness across sessions.
