Overview

RRB Group D recruitment 2026: Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) released RRB Group D recruitment notification for CEN 09/2025 on the official portal to fill 22082 RRB Group D vacancies. It was started on January 31 and closed on March 9, 2026. The notification for the same was released on January 30. The last date for fee payment was March 11, 2026. The application correction facility dates were March 12 to 21 for CEN No. 09/2025. 

RRB Group D Recruitment 08/2024

The RRB Group D 2026 result is expected soon on the official regional websites for CEN No. 08/2024. The exam was conducted from November 27 to February 10. The recruitment notification was publihed in the form of PDF (CEN No. 08/2024). The application dates were January 23 to March 1, 2025. Those candidates who want to apply for the RRB Group D exam required to satisfy the eligibility criteria. RRB Group D Exam Pattern 2026

RRB Group D exam pattern highlights the overall structure of the exam. Going through the exam pattern, candidates can know about the marking scheme, total marks, exam duration, etc. The stage-wise RRB Group D exam pattern is explained below.

RRB Group D Exam Pattern for CBT

This stage is divided into four sections-General Science, Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning and General Awareness and Current Affairs. The total marks allotted to the test are 100. The total duration of the test is 90 minutes (120 minutes for eligible PwBD candidates accompanied by the scribe). There are negative marks of 1/3 for wrong answers. RRB Group D Exam Pattern for PET/PST

Candidates qualifying the CBT are called for PET. The structure of PET/PST is given below.

Male candidates Female candidates/Transgender candidates

Candidates should be able to lift and carry 35 kg of weight for a distance of 100 meters in two minutes without putting down the weight

Female candidates should be able to lift and carry 20 kgs of weight for a distance of 100 meters in two minutes without putting down the weight
Candidates should be able to run for a distance of 1000 meters in four minutes and 15 seconds in one chance Candidates should be able to run for a distance of 1000 meters in five minutes and 40 seconds in one chance

RRB Group D Exam Pattern for Document Verification & Medical Exam

Candidates qualifying the PET are called for document verification. Shortlisted candidates of document verification are sent for medical exam. Visual acuity standard is one of the important criteria of the medical fitness of railway staff. RRB Group D medical standards are given below.

B-1  Distant Vision: 6/9, 6/12 with or without glasses (power of lenses not to exceed 4D)
Near Vision: Sn. 0.6, 0.6 with or without glasses when reading or close work is required and must pass the test for colour vision, binocular vision, night vision, mesopic vision, etc.
B-2  Distant Vision: 6/9, 6/12 with or without glasses (power of lenses not to exceed 4D)
Near Vision: Sn. 0.6, 0.6 with or without glasses when reading or close work is required and must pass test for Binocular Vision, etc.
C-1  Distant Vision: 6/12, 6/18 with or without glasses

RRB Group D 2026 Syllabus

The RRB released the detailed RRB Group D Syllabus along with its official recruitment notification. It is important for a candidate to go through the syllabus properly before starting the preparation for Level-1 exam. It will give an idea to the candidate about the topics asked in the exam to score good marks. The standard of RRB Group D syllabus is of Class 10 standard. RRB Group D Syllabus comprises subjects such as Maths, General Awareness, General Science, Reasoning.

Railway Group D Quantitative Aptitude includes 25 questions from basic and advanced mathematics and it is one of the most important sections of the exam. Through this section, candidates' calculative skills are judged. Basic Arithmetic operations questions are asked in the exam, which candidates have studied in Class 10. Further, the railway reasoning syllabus carries 30 questions of one mark each. 0.25 marks are deducted for every wrong answer. General Intelligence and Reasoning test assesses a candidate's logical reasoning.

RRB Group D Salary

The in-hand salary of RRB Group D ranges between INR 22,000 to 25,000 per month. The basic pay of RRB Group D is INR 18,000 according to the 7th Pay Commission. Besides, candidates are also entitled to various perks and allowances. Candidates through RRB Group D exam are recruited in seven departments such as including Mechanical, Electrical, Engineering, Signal & Telecommunication, Stores, Medical, and Traffic.

Q:   Will RRB Group D exam be conducted this year?
A: 

RRB Group D 2025 exam is conducted this year. RRB Group D notification 2025 has been released. The selection process comprises CBT, Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Document Verification, and Medical Examination. The recruitment is conducted to select candidates for the various posts in Level-1 of the seventh CPC pay matrix such as Track Maintainer Grade-IV, Helper/Assistant in various technical departments (Electrical, Mechanical, and S&T departments), Assistant Pointsman, and many more. 

Q:   How to prepare for RRB Group D exam at home?
A:

  • They should keep themselves updated with the national and international events

Q:   What is RRB Group D selection process?
A: 

RRB Group D selection process comprises CBT, PET/PST, document verification and medical exam. The transgender candidates are given relaxation in the PET. CCAAs trained in railway establishment are given due weightage of marks obtained in their NCVT exam in preparation of final merit list after the conduct of CBT. Based on the performance of candidates in CBT subject to their qualifying in PER, candidates are called for document verification as per their merit and options. In case of two or more candidates secure same marks, their merit position is determined by age criteria i.e., older person is placed at higher merit and in case age is same, then alphabetical order (A to Z) of the name is taken into account to break the tie. Appointment of selected candidates is subject to their passing requisite Medical Fitness Test conducted by the Railway Administration, final verification of educational and community certificates and verification of antecedents/character of the candidates. All candidates clearing the DV are called for medical exam. RRBs/RRCs only recommend names of the empanelled candidates and appointment is offered only by the respective Railway Administrations.

Q:   Can I change my state in the RRB group D form?
A: 

Yes, candidates can change their states in the RRB Group D exam. This can be done by first choosing 'Application Modification' which is available in the home page of the registration portal. After candidates have chosen the preferred state, they need to pay a non-refundable fee of INR 100 for modifying the application. Once candidates have successfully paid the application fee they can make the necessary changes and then submit it. Please note that candidates will not be able to edit your registration number, email id, mobile number, and your zone. Candidates are required to fill the application form online. The application fee is INR 500 (for all candidates except the fee concession categories). The fee for PwBD/Female /Transgender/ Ex-Servicemen/SC/ST/Minority Communities/ Economically Backward Class is INR 250.

Q:   How the empanelling of candidates is done in RRB Group D exam?
A: 

Empanelling of candidates in RRB Group D exam is done based on their performance in CBT, subject to their qualifying in PET. The appointment is offered to selected candidates provided they qualify the requisite medical fitness test and document verification. In case two or more candidates secure the same marks, their merit position is determined by the age criteria. The letter of appointment is issued by the Railway Administrations. Appointment of selected candidates is subject to their passing requisite Medical Fitness Test to be conducted by the Railway Administration, final verification of educational and community certificates and verification of antecedents/character of the candidates. It may also be noted that all candidates successful in DV are sent for Medical Examination. Clearing of such Medical Examination by additional candidates (those called for DV beyond the notified number of vacancies) will give such candidates no right to be considered for appointment. Candidates may note that RRBs/RRCs only recommend names of the empanelled candidates and appointment is offered only by the respective Railway Administrations.

CCAAs trained in railway establishment are given due weightage of marks obtained in NCVT for preparation of the final merit list. They are also exempted from PET/PST.
