CPGET 2026: Notification, Application Form, Exam Dates, Syllabus, Counselling & Results

Osmania University conducts the Common Post Graduate Entrance Test (CPGET) once a year. Earlier known as OUCET (Osmania University Common Entrance Test), CPGET is held for admission to various PG, PGD (post-graduate diploma) courses, and five-year integrated courses at Osmania and other participating universities. The entrance exam is quite competitive. Nearly 65,000 students apply for the exam each year due to its widespread popularity and objective of providing admission to various universities in the state of Telangana. The stark difference between the number of applicants and seats available for each programme, the postgraduate level entrance exam is one of the most competitive entrance exams out there. 

These participating universities include Kakatiya University, Telangana University, Mahatma Gandhi University, Palamuru University, Satavahana University, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, and Telangana Mahila Visvavidyalayam.   

The courses that are offered through CPGET are mentioned in the table below.  

Applying for CPGET 2026 requires fulfilment of some specific eligibility criteria. Age is no bar. Each and every requirement is decided by the Osmania University. It differs from programme to programme based on the stream and subject. Generally, candidates must have scored a minimum of 40 per cent in the qualifying examination. As of now, OU has not provided any specific CPGET 2026 eligibility criteria. However, we have inluded a list below considering the requirements of CPGET 2025. We will update you with the latest details once available on the official website. 

The CPGET 2026 application form will be available only in online mode. When you complete the CPGET 2026 form, you have to pay application fee. It is different for each category. If you want to apply for CPGET 2026, just follow the steps below to complete the application.

Step 1: CPGET Registration

The registration is complete only when the candidates enter the required primary information including the number of entrance tests to be taken and the requisite registration fee is paid. The registration fee may be paid at any T.S./ A.P. online centres or by using Credit/ Debit Cards or Net Banking. When you finish CPGET registration, you get a Registration ID. Keep it safe, you will need it to fill the online form and later for admit cards or checking results. To register, you have to put some basic information.

Step 2: Fill up the CPGET exam 2026 application form

You have to login to cpget.tgche.ac.in website, using your registration ID, mobile number, and date of birth to fill and submit CPGET online application. Before submitting, check all the details, photo and signature are correct. After that, take a printout of your CPGET application for later use.

The candidate will be held personally responsible for any incorrect/ inconsistent entries in the online application form. The University reserves the right to cancel the admission at any stage if the particulars furnished by the candidate are found to be incorrect.

Step 3: Uploading the Documents

Before submitting the online application, the candidates must keep ready the scanned copies of their latest passport-size coloured photograph, his/ her signature, caste certificates, EWS certificate (if applicable), latest income (If applicable), Aadhaar number and PH certificate (if applicable).  

Step 4: Pay CPGET Application Fee

The CPGET application fee is INR 600 for SC, ST, PH students, and INR 800 for others. If you add another subject, you pay extra INR 450 for each. You can make the payment using debit card or internet banking. There is also a late fee of INR 500 and INR 2000 if you send the CPGET form after the last date.

CPGET Exam Centres

Exam centre cities for CPGET 2025 are listed below. Any new changes regarding CPGET 2026 test centres will be updated soon. While filling the CPGET application form, you need to choose your preferred cities. The full details of the exam centre like venue name, address and other info will be given on your CPGET admit card.

Once the applications have concluded, the CPGET admission process will have the following stages. 

Step 1: CPGET Admit Card 2026

The university will issue admit cards to successful applicants at least a week before the exam dates. They can download it from the university’s website. A passport-size photo, same as used in the application form, must be pasted on your CPGET admit card. You also need to self-attest your photo on the admit card. If you don’t bring the admit card to the exam centre, you cannot take the test.A passport-size photo, same as used in the application form, must be pasted on your CPGET admit card. Step 2: CPGET 2026

As of last years' trends, CPGET 2026 exam is expected to be held in August. Confirm dates for the test will be soon announced by OU on its website at least one week before. 

The test will be conducted for all the courses offered. The same will also be displayed on the notice board of the Convener, CPGET – 2026, Directorate of Admissions, Osmania University. The entrance tests for all the subjects will be of 90 minutes duration. For all entrance tests, the question paper will have 100 objective (multiple choice only) type questions for 100 marks. The questions will be framed only from the syllabus of the entrance test. The questions may have more than one correct answer option. 

Note: Thumb impressions and photographs of the candidates will be taken at the time of the entrance test through a biometric system. This data in the soft form will be used at the time of admission while giving hostel admission and wherever necessary.

Step 3: CPGET 2026 Results

Once the CPGET 2026 entrance exam results are announced. A rank list will be released on a designated day. candidates will be called for counselling On the basis of the rank list.

Step 4: CPGET 2026 Counselling

Admissions are conducted through a process of web-based counselling. Before admissions are allotted, qualified and eligible candidates have to exercise options through the web in the order of their preference. If the admitted candidates in each course are found to be less than 10 then that course will be cancelled for that academic year.

The exam pattern of CPGET (OUCET) 2026 is explained in the points below.

• The entrance tests in all the subjects are 90 minutes long the question paper consists of 100 objective (multiple choice only) type questions for 100 marks. 
• The entrance test will consist of any 3 or 4 varieties of objective-type items such as analogies, classification, matching, comprehension of a research study/ experiment/ theoretical point of view, etc., with multiple answers besides the usual multiple-choice items. The items will be framed only from the syllabus of the entrance test.
• The pattern of Entrance Test for admission into M.Sc. Biochemistry, Environmental Science, Forensic Science, Genetics and Microbiology are such that candidates have to appear for a common entrance test, namely BCESFSG&M comprising of Part-A (Chemistry for 40 Marks) and Part-B (One of the optional subjects studied at B.Sc. level among the: Physics, Botany, Zoology, Genetics, Microbiology and Biochemistry) for 60 Marks. 
• The pattern of Entrance Tests for admissions into M.Sc. Bio-Technology comprises of Part-A (Chemistry for 40 marks) and part-B (Bio-Technology for 60 Marks) 

Similar to CPGET eligibility criteria, the CPGET syllabus is not same for every program, you know. And then, in the CPGET entrance test, you usually get 3 or sometimes 4 kinds of objective questions, but it kind of depends. Some questions look like analogies, while others are more like matching or putting things in the right group, and there’s also stuff about reading a small study or experiment or some theory view.
You also see many answer type things, not only the normal multiple-choice ones, which make you think a bit different. All these items come only from the CPGET syllabus, so nothing is sneaked from outside it.
