NEET PG 2026

NEET PG 2026: NBEMS successfully conducted the NEET PG 2026 exam on August 30. The exam was conducted as a computer-based test in a single shift. NEET PG exam timing was 9 AM to 12:30 PM. Based on students' feedback, there was a mixed reaction to the NEET PG exam's difficulty level. The majority of students said that the exam was moderately difficult, but according to a few students, the paper was easy to moderate. Q:   Has MCC reduced NEET PG 2025 cutoff?

Yes. MCC has reduced NEET PG 2025 cutoff percentile as well as score for each category. NEET PG 2025 percentile has bene reduced by 7th percentile for general category and 0th percentile for SC/ST category. For general category revised cutoff score is 103.

Q:   Who releases the list of centres for NEET PG?
A: 

The National Board of Examinations (NBE) releases the list of centres for NEET PG. Candidates have to choose a preference of the exam centre while applying online for the exam. Q:   Which are the institutes that do not accept NEET PG scores for admission?
A: 

15 AIIMS including AIIMS New Delhi, PGIMER Chandigarh, JIPMER, Puducherry, NIMHANS Bengaluru, SGPGI Lucknow, and Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology, Trivandrum do not accept NEET PG scores. A separate exam is conducted for admission at these institutes, i.e INI CET. The exam is conducted twice in a year in computer-based mode.

The qualifying NEET PG cutoff percentile for the general category is 50. Candidates whose percentile score is above the cutoff percentile will be considered for the admission process. NEET PG cutoff percentile score varies for each category.

Q:   How many seats are available in NEET PG?

NEET PG exam is conducted for admission to 26,168 Doctor of Medicine (MD), 13,649 Master of Surgery (MS) and 922 PG Diploma in 6,102 government, private, deemed/central universities. Candidates have to appear in the exam and qualify it with the minimum cut off marks as per the category. Thereafter, he/she will have to participate in the counselling process for seat allocation. Candidates have to register on the official website and declare choice for college and course for NEET PG counselling process. Seats are allotted based on choice declared, NEET PG rank, available seats, reservation fcator etc.

NEET PG 2026 Registration

The authority has closed the NEET PG registration. The application form was available online at natboard.edu.in. Those who meet the minimum criteria could apply online.   • Upload photograph and signature.

NEET PG 2026 Form Correction

The authority activated the NEET PG selective edit window on July 31. Candidates will have to log in for scrunity tab. They can edit their photograph, thumb impression, and signature. Follow the guidelines

NEET PG form correction window was active from July 25 to 28. Registered candidates must complete the NEET PG correction process before the deadline. They were allowed to make changes to the edited field only.

Q:   Who releases cut off for NEET PG?

National Board of Examinations (NBE) releases cut off for NEET PG. It must be noted the cut off is releases along with NEET PG result. Candidates have to score minimum cut off to qualify for the exam. The minimum cut off is different for different category. For the general category, the minimum qualifying cut off is 50 percentile marks while for SC/ST, the qualifying cut off is 40. The cut off depends on a number of factors including the difficulty level of the exam, number of candidates appeared etc.

Q:   Will the authorities reduce the cutoff percentile for NEET PG 2025?
A: 

The qualifying/ cutoff percentile for NEET PG can be lowered if there are not enough candidates for the counselling process. Such decisions will be taken in consultation with the Medical Council of India and will be informed to the test-takers via an official notification. In 2023, MCC had reduced NEET PG cut off percentile to zero for all category for stray vacancy round counselling. MCC had reduced cut off for 2024-25 session as well. Reduction of NEET PG cut off depends on many factors including number of vacant seats to be filled up. 

Q:   Does NBE reduce NEET PG cut off in any case?
A: 

Yes. NBE reduces NEET PG cut off in case seats remain vacant after counseling rounds. Reducation of cut off makes more number of candidates eligible to participate in the counselling who were earlier ineligible due to low score. NEET PG 2025 cut off percentile has been reduced for each category. 

 

NEET PG 2026 Eligibility

The Board notify some eligibility conditions for the candidates who want to apply for the NEET PG 2026. The candidates should read all the eligibility criteria notified for the exam to avoid application rejection at any point in time. The NEET PG eligibility conditions are given below:

Education Qualification

The candidates must have passed MBBS from a recognised institute in India.

The candidates must have the Permanent or provisional registration Certificate of MBBS qualification issued by NMC/the erstwhile Medical Council of India or State Medical Council. 

MBBS Internship Cutoff Date for NEET PG 2026

The candidates must have completed the one year of Internship or will be completing it by September 30, 2026.

Age Limit for NEET PG 2026

The Board does not mention any age limit requirement for the NEET PG exam. Candidates of any age can apply for the exam.

It is worth noting that the candidate found to be ineligible at any stage of NEET PG 2026 will not be permitted to appear in the exam or Counselling. The Board can even cancel the results of such candidates in case they qualify in the exam.

NEET PG 2026 Syllabus

NBE doesn’t release the word-by-word NEET PG syllabus. Candidates can refer the syllabus referred by the Medical Council of India. NEET PG syllabus 2026 mainly comprises subjects covered in the MBBS course, I.e pre clinical, and clinical subjects. The syllabus comprises around 15 subjects, mainly anatomy, physiology, biochemistry etc.

NEET PG 2026 Pattern

NEET PG 2026 pattern is released along with the official information brochure. The exam pattern of NEET PG 2026 comprises details including mode, medium of exam, total number of question and their type, marking scheme etc. As per the existing pattern of NEET PG, the exam will be held in computer-based mode. A total of 200 multiple-choice questions will be asked, and candidates will get 3.5 hours to answer them. There is a provision of negative marking in the NEET PG exam. NBE might release the NEET PG question paper and answer key.

Yes, for postgraduate medical courses like MD and MS, colleges accept NEET PG scores. For super-specialty courses, NEET SS is required. MBBS admission, however, is based only on NEET UG.

No. NEET-PG is mandatory for all MD admissions in India across all colleges, government, private, deemed, and central institutions. There is no alternative entrance exam or direct admission route for MD. Even foreign nationals of Indian origin need to qualify in the relevant entrance process.
