NEET-SS 2023 candidates have reported glitches at examination centres located at various cities including New Delhi, Ahmedabad and Bhubaneswar

The NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) SS exam, for admission into programmes like Medicine (DM) and Master of Surgery (MCh) commenced today with some students facing difficulty at some of the exam centres. At some of the NEET SS exam centres, there was a delay of over two hours.

Medha Sohane, one of the NEET-SS candidates sharing her ordeal of facing problems at the examination centre shared on X: β€œEven after taking more than 4k exam fees, all we get is uncertainty, delays and technical glitches. Today there was a delay of 1.5 hours in the NEET SS exam pan India. NBE never fails to fail.”The NEET-SS exam will be held on September 29 and 30, 2023.

Federation of Resident Doctors’ Association (FORDA) India also shared the issue students had to face at the examination centre and stated that Gross mismanagement by NBEMS for #NEETSS2023, Morning session delayed by 2 hours today at @GangaIntlll school. It writes: β€œCharging so much money and acting so callously is not acceptable. At least these doctors deserve a smooth & hassle-free exam process!”

The NEET-SS 2023 exam will be held for different groups on both days of the exam in order to accommodate a broad range of students, as per the National Board of Examinations (NBE). The exam will be held in two shifts: the morning shift will be conducted between 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and the afternoon shift from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

One of the parents of a NEET-SS candidate, Dr Hiren Jobanputra tagged Railway Minister Ashwini Vishnav in his tweet and wrote: β€œSir today my son appears for NEET SS examination at Ahmedabad. Here Center said that due to server problems exam starts at 11:00 a.m. instead of 9:00 a.m. Sir, I’m digital era that is really ridiculous. You must prepare for the same. Take strict action responsibly.”

The exam paper will consist of a total of 150 questions and candidates will have a maximum time limit of 150 minutes to answer all questions.

NEET-SS 2023: Group-based examination

The NEET SS exam scores will be accepted by all private medical colleges, universities, deemed universities, and military medical service institutes with the exception of AIIMS, New Delhi, PGIMER, Chandigarh, JIPMER, Puducherry, NIMHANS, Bengaluru, and SCTIMST, Thiruvananthapuram.

This year NEET-SS 2023 has introduced a group-based examination structure, where the paper exclusively includes questions from the primary feeder of the chosen broad speciality.

The NEET SS will be a group-based examination consisting of questions from only broad specialty primary feeders. Candidates will now be able to appear in any of the super-specialties as per feeder subject. All DM, MCh, and DrNB courses offered for admission through NEET-SS 2023 are combined into 13 different groups, which means there will be a common question paper for admission to all the super-specialty courses covered in a particular group.
