RRB NTPC exam is conducted to select candidates for various Non-Technical Popular Categories (NTPC) positions in the Indian Railways’ Zonal Railways and Production Units. The posts include Junior Clerk cum Typist, Accounts Clerk cum Typist, Junior Time Keeper, Trains Clerk, Commercial cum Ticket Clerk, Traffic Assistant, Goods Guard, Senior Commercial cum Ticket Clerk, Junior Account Assistant cum Typist, Senior Clerk cum Typist, Senior Time Keeper, Commercial Apprentice, and Station Master. Candidates must fulfil RRB NTPC eligibility laid down in terms of age limit, educational qualification and medical standards.
RRB NTPC Eligibility 2026: Nationality
Candidates applying for RRB NTPC must be:
- An Indian citizen
- A subject of Nepal or Bhutan
- A Tibetan Refugee who came over to India before 1st January 1962 to permanently settle in India
- A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam with to permanently settle in India.

RRB NTPC Medical Standards
Candidates must ensure that they fulfil the prescribed medical standards for the posts they are applying. Candidates must be medically fit to carry on their duties and responsibilities for the applied post. Before final appointment, the medical fitness of candidates will be checked by the Railway Administration. Visual Acuity Standard is one of the important criteria of medical fitness of railway staff. RRB NTPC Typing Proficiency
Candidates must also have typing proficiency as per RRB NTPC eligibility. This is required for the positions such as Junior Clerk Cum Typist, Junior Time Keeper, Trains Clerk, Accounts Clerk Cum Typist, Commercial Cum Ticket Clerk, Senior Clerk Cum Typist, Senior Time Keeper, Junior Accounts Assistant Cum Typist, and Station Master. Candidates are required to undergo typing test in the second round of selection.
- The test is conducted in Hindi, and both Kruti Dev and Mangal fonts is available for typing on a Personal Computer
- Candidates with certain permanent disabilities such as visual impairments (Blindness/Low Vision), Cerebral Palsy, and Locomotor Disability (with not less than 40% permanent disability) are exempted from the Typing Skill Test. Such candidates must upload a scanned copy of the Typing Skill Test Exemption Certificate issued by the Competent Medical Board on the respective RRB’s website before the typing skill test
- Merit is determined only for candidates who have qualified in the typing skill test

The age limit for undergraduate posts is between 18 and 30 years whereas the age limit for graduate posts is between 18 to 33 years.
