RRB NTPC Medical & Vision Standards

RRB NTPC Medical Visual Standard 2024: Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) prescribe RRB NTPC medical standards in the notification. Candidates appearing for RRB NTPC 2024 exam must fulfil the medical standards defined for different posts. According to RRB NTPC medical standards, candidates recommended for appointment will have to pass requisite medical fitness test conducted by the Railway Administration to ensure that the candidates are medically fit to carry out the duties connected with the post. RRB NTPC medical visual standard is one of the most important criteria of medical fitness of railway staff. RRBI NTPC   medical standards for different categories are provided on this page. The examination authority verifies the RRB NTPC medical visual standards at the time of document verification. 
RRB NTPC exam is conducted to select candidates for various graduate and undergraduate posts such as  Junior Clerk cum Typist, Accounts Clerk cum Typist, Junior Time Keeper, Trains Clerk, Commercial cum Ticket Clerk, Traffic Assistant, Goods Guard, Senior Commercial cum Ticket Clerk, Senior Clerk cum Typist, Junior Account Assistant cum Typist, Senior Time Keeper, Commercial Apprentice and Station Master. RRB NTPC Eye Standard

Candidates must be physically fit in all respect. The RRB NTPC eye vision prescribed for the posts is given below.

RRB NTPC Medical Standard NTPC Eye Criteria

A-2

Distance Vision: 6/9, 6/9 with or without glasses (No fogging test),

Near Vision: Sn: 0.6, 0.6 with or without glasses and Must pass test for Colour Vision, Binocular Vision, Night Vision and Myopic vision

A-3

Distance Vision: 6/9, 6/9 with or without glasses (power of lenses not to exceed 2D),

Near Vision: Sn: 0.6, 0.6 with or without glasses and Must pass test for Colour Vision, Binocular Vision, Night Vision and Myopic vision

B-2

Distance Vision: 6/9, 6/12 with or without glasses (power of lenses not to exceed 4D).

Near Vision: Sn: 0.6, 0.6 with or without glasses when reading or close work is required and must pass test for  Field of Vision (Binocular Vision), etc.

C-2

Distance Vision: 6/12, 6/18 with or without glasses.

Near Vision: Sn: 0.6 with or without glasses when reading or close work is required.

Important Points related to the RRB NTPC Medical Standard

Few important points related to RRB NTPC medical test are given below.

  • RRB NTPC medical standard prescribed by the RRBs applies for candidates in general
  • Candidates who have undergone lasik surgery or any other surgery are not eligible for the post having medical standard A-2, A-3 and B-2
  • Different medical standards apply to Ex-Servicemen as provided in Para 534 of Indian Railway Medical Manual (IRMM) Volume I
  • Candidates need to fulfil RRB NTPC post wise medical standard as per RRB NTPC Selection Process

  • Traffic Apprentice

RRB NTPC Medical Visual Standard A3

The post that comes under medical visual standard A 3 is of Trains Clerk.

RRB NTPC Medical Visual Standard B2

  • Commercial Cum Ticket Clerk
  • Senior Commercial Cum Ticket Clerk
  • Commercial Apprentice

RRB NTPC Medical Visual Standard C2

  • Senior Clerk Cum Typist
  • Junior Accountant Assistant Cum Typist
  • Senior Time Keeper
  • Junior Clerk Cum Typist

  • Junior Time Keeper

Station Master Eye Standard

The post of Station Master comes under A2 band of RRB NTPC medical standard. According to Station Master eye standard, the vision of candidates should be 6/9, 6/9 with or without glasses (No fogging test). The near vision should be Sn: 0.6, 0.6 with or without glasses and Must pass test for Colour Vision, Binocular Vision, Night Vision and Myopic vision.

Stages of RRB NTPC Recruitment

Two stage Computer Based Test (CBT) followed by Skill Test (Computer Based Aptitude Test and Typing Skill Test) will be conducted for Station Master and Traffic Assistant, Junior Clerk cum Typist, Junior Time Keeper, Accounts Clerk cum Typist, Senior Clerk cum Typist, Junior Account Assistant cum Typist and Senior Time Keeper. This will be followed by document verification and medical examination.

For Trains Clerk, Commercial cum Ticket Clerk, Goods Guard, Senior Commercial cum Ticket Clerk, Commercial Apprentice, there will be two stage CBT followed by document verification and medical examination.

The minimum qualifying marks for the RRB NTPC CBT 1 graduate posts are for UR & EWS 40%, for OBC & SC 30% and for ST it is 25%.

The RRB NTPC 2026 Graduate posts difficulty level in general is considered a Moderate. The CBT 1 is basically Easy to Moderate where as CBT 2 is Moderate to Tough due to the level of the questions asked which are advanced and analytical.

The authority will release the RRB NTPC 2026 Graduate posts answer key for CEN No. 06/2025 within a few days after the conduction of an exam. The Graduate posts exam will be conducted from March 16 to 27.

Generally, the RRB NTPC exam for the Graduate posts is considered to be Easy to Moderate in difficulty level mainly for the CBT 1 and for CBT 2, it can be considered as Moderate to Tough.
