CUET 2023 Analysis: CUET 2023 exam has begun on May 21. The exam is being conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in three shifts. Unlike last year, the exam commenced smoothly in CUET 2023 centres across India and abroad. There were a few cases of technical glitches reported, which NTA is looking at. Due to server error, Slot 2 got delayed in some centres and Slot 3 got postponed as well. As per the candidates appearing in the exam in the first slot of Day 1, the difficulty level of CUET 2023 has been termed as easy to moderate. The first slot of CUET 2023 had two sections or subjects, English and General Test. While the English Test was easy, the General Test was of moderate difficulty level.

While the Language and General Test difficulty level has been termed as easy to moderate, the Domain subjects’ level of difficulty is expected to be moderate to tough. The difficulty level for Section II or the Domain-Specific subjects varied from subject to subject, as well as from student to student. Let us take a detailed look at the CUET 2023 exam analysis.
From the year 2021 onwards, CUET is conducted in computer-based mode. Till 2020, the exam was conducted in paper-pencil based (PBT) mode. The exam will continue to be conducted in the computer-based mode or online mode. As per the CUET exam pattern, the exam was conducted in two to three slots, depending on the number of applications received in a subject. There were three sections on Language, Domain Subject and General Test (optional). The number of questions and marks will vary from paper to paper.
More than 200 CUET participating universities, including central, state, government, private, and deemed institutes offer admission to various undergraduate and integrated courses through Common University Entrance Test (CUET-UG). Each CUET college offers the courses across Science, Humanities, Commerce, Management, Law, Engineering, and other streams. Students planning to get admission through CUET exam have to check the courses offered by their target university on their official website, NTA official website, or at Shiksha page.
CUET 2023 Exam Pattern and Structure
CUET 2023 is a computer-based test (CBT) carrying multiple-choice questions (MCQs). The table below brings the CUET 2023 exam pattern and broad structure of the test in terms of the number of questions in each section along with the duration.

Now we will analyse the sections of CUET 2023.
CUET UG 2023 Analysis – Section I
Section 1 is the Language Test, which is further divided into two sub-sections. The question types comprised Reading Comprehension and vocabulary. The difficulty level of this section was easy. The passages were of moderate length and the language was simple and lucid, which provided ease to candidates.
CUET UG 2023 Analysis – Section II
The second section iss on the Domain subjects opted for by the candidates. A detailed analysis of this section will be brought once the section is conducted in Slot 2 and Slot 3.
CUET UG 2023 Analysis – Section III
The third section of CUET UG 2023 was General Test. The difficulty level of the exam or the question types was moderate to tough. The areas from which the questions are asked include General Knowledge or Current Affairs, Numerical Ability (Basic Mathematics) and Logical and Analytical Reasoning. The questions on Current Affairs were on Sports, Politics, Business, Awards and Accolades and Literature. The GK questions were easy for candidates well-versed in current affairs. On the other hand, the questions on Numerical Ability, Logical Reasoning and Analytical Ability were slightly tricky, hence termed moderate.
On analysing the CUET UG cut off for the academic year 2025-26, scoring above 700 marks can be considered a good score in CUET UG. Candidates scoring above 700 may fall in the category of 95+ percentile. Candidates can get admission to top central universities like University of Delhi, Banaras Hindu University, Jawaharlal Nehru University and other universities in the desired course. Given below is the range that is considered good for admission:
- Very Good Score: 700 and above
- Good Score: 650 and above
Score range between 400-649 is considered an average score. Admission on the basis of the average score can et into any decent college in India accepting CUET scores.
CUET 2023 Student Reactions

Rakesh: I appeared for the English and General Test. The difficulty level was average. There were no technical glitches in this shift. I am planning to take BTech admission at DU.
Vinay: The difficulty level of this slot of CUET 2023 was moderate. I am going to appear for Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects in later dates and slots. I plan to take BSc admission at DU.
Kanishka: I am from Humanities stream. It was an easy paper. The overall exam-taking experience was also good according to me. Through CUET, I plan to take admission in Language courses at JNU.
Varun: I appeared for General Test and English. The difficulty level was moderate with some questions being on the tougher side. I am planning to take LLB admission at DU or JNU.
Ansh: I found the English section questions to be easy and the General Test to be moderate. Although there was no technical glitch during the exam, there was one question in the General Test section which was repeated. There was a difficulty during the biometric checking process. As far as the Domain subjects, I am appearing for Physics, Chemistry and Biology papers.
CUET 2023 will be conducted till June 6 and June 7 and June 8 have been kept as reserved dates. As many as 14,99,788 candidates have applied for the exam.

The difficulty level of the CUET exam varies between moderate and tough.
