Q:   How many exam cities can be chosen while filling the NEST 2026 application form?

NEST 2026 exam will be conducted in 140 cities across India. Applicants have to select three cities in order of preference. Every effort will be made to allot the centre of first preference. The final decision lies with the authorities. The exam conducting authorities will release the NEST 2026 admit card on May 15, 2026, which will mention the allotted NEST exam centre to the applicants.

Important things to remember for the NEST 2026 online application are mentioned below:

  • The correct email address should be provided. The NEST office communicates with candidates through this e-mail ID only. 
  • The phone number that is provided during the application should be accessible by the candidate. The NEST office uses this phone number to reach a candidate or to send SMS messages whenever necessary. 
  • A properly scanned and cropped recent passport-sized photograph should be uploaded. A properly scanned and cropped signature should be uploaded. 
  • The photograph and signature files must not be more than 80 KB each and must be in. JPG or JPEG format only. 
  • Applications incomplete in any respect will not be accepted.

Details About Photograph to be Uploaded on NEST 2026 Application Form

The photograph uploaded on the NEST 2026 application form should fulfil the following criteria:

  • The photograph should be passport-sized
  • The photograph should be in colour
  • The face should be completely visible, including the ears
  • The background of the photograph should be white
  • Candidates should not be wearing sunglasses, caps, mufflers, earmuffs, headphones, etc., while getting the photograph clicked
  • The photograph should not be older than six months
  • The photograph should not be over or under exposed
  • Selfies will not be accepted
  • There should not be any filter used on the photograph.

Details About Signature to be Uploaded on NEST 2026 Application Form

Candidates have to fulfil the following requirements regarding the signature to be uploaded on the NEST application form 2026.

  • The signature has to be made on white paper
  • The signature should be done with a blue or black ballpoint pen
  • Students should make a rectangular box and sign in the centre
  • Full name has to be written in the signature and short forms will not be allowed

The details about the Domicile Certificate to be uploaded on the NEST application form should include the following details.

How to Apply for NEST 2026

The application form for NEST 2026 has to be filled in online mode only. The procedure is given below.

  • Visit the official website, i.e. nestexam.in
  • Click on the tab Register Now or directly click on the link - https://cdn3.digialm.com/EForms/configuredHtml/1834/97119/Registration.html
  • Fill up the mandatory fields
  • Generate Username and Password
  • Login with the registration details
  • Fill up the application form and upload documents 
  • Pay the application fee
  • Once the registration form is submitted then students must take a printout and save it for further usage.

Candidates belonging to the reserved categories, such as Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Persons with Disabilities have to produce the category certificates during the admission or NEST counselling process.

The NEST 2026 exam will be conducted on June 6. It is a national-level entrance exam for admission to five-year Integrated MSc programmes at NISER Bhubaneswar and Mumbai University -Department of Atomic Energy Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences (UM-DAE CEBS).

NEST 2026 will be conducted in a computer-based mode for a three-hour duration. There will be 200 questions from Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics. Candidates have to attempt at least three sections. Physics and Chemistry are compulsory, and one subject from Biology or Mathematics must be attempted.

Yes, candidates who have passed class 12 with PCM or BiPC can appear for NEST. They alos need to obtain 60% marks (55% for SC/ST/ Divyangjan) in aggregate.

A good score in NEST is considered to be 150+ marks. However, NEST safe score varies for each categories. To secure admission to the top programs offered at NISER and UM-DAE CEBS candidates belonging to GEN category must obtain 150+ marks, while SC/ST need to obatin 90+ marks.
