The NEST 2026 subject-wise syllabus has been released by the exam authorities. The national-level entrance exam for admission to the Integrated MSc programme tests candidates’ knowledge on the core subjects of Science stream. The NEST syllabus includes the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics. The syllabus of NEST 2026 is the same as Class 11 and 12 curriculum, and in-line with the NCERT subject and topics.

The NEST 2026 exam will be conducted in a computer-based mode for three hours. The details of the NEST exam pattern are provided in the table.

Candidates appearing for the exam for three sections will get two hours duration for the exam. Candidates belonging to the PwD category will get a compensatory time of 20 minutes per hour as per the Government of India guidelines.

NEST 2026 Syllabus for Chemistry

The NEST Chemistry syllabus includes chapters and topics from Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry and Physical Chemistry. The syllabus for NEST 2026 Chemistry section is given below.

  • Important For Physical Chemistry: Measurements in chemistry,  Mole concept, Gaseous and liquid states,  Atomic structure and chemical bonding, Thermodynamics, Chemical equilibrium, Solid state, Solutions, Electrochemistry, Chemical kinetics.
  • Important Topics for Surface Chemistry: Absorption, Colloidal state.
  • Important Topics for Inorganic Chemistry: Classification of elements and periodicity in properties, S-Block elements, P-Block elements, Coordination compounds, D-Block elements, F-Block elements, Metals and metallurgy.

No, NASM, Mumbai, requires candidates to pass Class 12 with atleast 45% aggregate in order to be eligibile for the offered UG programmes. A student who has just passed Class 10 must Pass Class 12 and apply for admission after results for Class 12 have been released.

NASM, Mumbai offers UG programmes for 1 year - 3 years. For programmes at PG level, the duration is 1 year - 2 years. The total tuition fee for UG programmes is INR 99,000. Likewise, the PG programmes fee is INR 1,80,000 - 3,60,000. Students can pay the fee amount via online or offline mode.

The NEST question paper is divided into four sections. The questions are based on Class 11 & 12 Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology. Each section has 20 questions. Every question carries 3 marks. Negative marking is done for wrong answers.
