The negative marking scheme is as follows:
Section A: For each wrong answer to a one-mark question, 1/3 mark will be deducted. On the other hand, for each wrong answer to two-mark questions, 2/3 marks will be deducted. There is no negative marking for any questions left unanswered.
Section B: There is no negative marking in this section. Also, there is no partial marking provision in this section.
Section C: There is no negative marking in this section, as well.

IIT JAM Shift 1 Exam Analysis
Candidates who will be appearing in the IIT JAM 2026 Exam for 7 MSc courses may find the exam moderate. Questions will be designed in such a manner to test their analytical and practical approach to the concerned subject.

Mayank Shukla: The overall difficulty level of IIT JAM Mathematics subject was found to be moderate. The topics that were found to lengthy were Group Theory and Integral Calculus. Most of the questions came from the subject group theory.
